Chapter 1490 Trial of Power(12)

Chapter 1490: Trial of Power(12)

The manʼs eyes were red with anger, and he rushed toward his sonʼs attacker, disregarding the consequences of such an action.

The man in question was grinning at first, but when he saw that it wasnʼt just an angry roar, he turned pale. He was no match for the attacker, so he immediately looked to his allies for help.

Unfortunately for him, no one tried to help him. The attacker grabbed the manʼs head and picked him up. Without wasting any time, he immediately put pressure on his hands, and the head exploded like a watermelon.

As the hot blood touched the attackerʼs face, his eyes started to lose the red. A sense of confusion appeared since he would never be that rash, but before he could understand what was happening, a heavy pressure appeared out of nowhere and pushed him to the ground.

The attacker wanted to speak but was unable to open his mouth, and the pressure on him kept growing. It was as if a heavy plate was pressing on him; a few moments later, there was nothing left of the attacker. Even his blood turned into vapor due to the intense pressure.

The entire tent seemed to have awakened at that moment, and they immediately bowed toward the seat in the center. There was no one sitting there, but the next moment, a man appeared out of nowhere on the gigantic chair.

It was none other than the leader of the Helennis tribe, the only Level 4 in the range of ten thousand miles. He didnʼt look at the leaders of the tribes he instigated to battle but outside the tent.

Huo Jinglin felt a chill crawling down his spine, feeling as if locked by a predatory aura. He didnʼt need to think much about who was staring at him since who could it be other than the Level 4 leader of the tribe?

Huo Jinglin was ready to run but found that the aura disappeared as if what he felt was only an illusion.

Inside the tent, Hiron had an ugly expression on his face since he never expected to find the challenger to infiltrate the Helennis tribe.

When Huo Jinglin got the challenge, Hiron also got the challenge. It was to stop Huo Jinglin from finding out the truth in thirty days. He would get five low Experience Cores as a reward, two cores higher than Huo Jinglinʼs reward.

The failure penalty was also very high. If Hiron failed the challenge, his level would regress to Level 3, and he would receive a red mark. It would be his third red mark, so failure meant death.

It sounded easy from the details since Huo Jinglin was only Level 1, but there was a requirement Hiron needed to fulfill to complete the challenge.

He couldnʼt directly or indirectly harm the challenger using his prestige as the leader. So even though he knew about Huo Jinglin infiltrating the tribe, he could neither attack him nor tell his subordinates since that would also be akin to harming Huo Jinglin.

***

Huo Jinglin gasped for breath as he finally escaped the group of enemies chasing him. It had been twenty-three days since he received the challenge, and he only had a week left to complete it.

Things went well for Huo Jinglin, as he not only found the instigator but also infiltrated the camp to further close down on his goal. On the seventeenth day, Huo Jinglin finally reached a dead end, unable to find what caused Hiron to initiate the war.

Since he was at a dead end, he needed to do something drastic to flip the table so that he could find something. His actions slightly changed the tone of the challenge, and he finally saw a way forward, but it also brought a new problem for him.

To flip the table, Huo Jinglin used his identity as a member of the Helennis tribe and attacked a small tribe involved in the war. Members of the Helannis tribe had stayed away from the war until that moment, but his involvement lit up the fire.

The tribe he attacked in disguise immediately withdrew from the war since no one would dare face off against a tribe led by Level 4 when the small tribeʼs strongest member was only Level 2.

Huo Jinglin didnʼt randomly choose the small tribe but selected the one where the daughter of the leader was married to a Level 3 tribe leader. Immediately after Huo Jinglinʼs attack and the tribeʼs withdrawal, the news reached the Level 3 tribe leader.

The man immediately rushed to the Helennis tribe with a few other tribe leaders who were in the same camp and appealed to the audience of Hiron. Unfortunately for them, Huo Jinglin had fully calculated things and attempted them after clear calculations.

Hiron had left to meet another Level 4 tribe leader due to another issue caused by Huo Jinglin, so when the group of tribe leaders appealed for an audience, they couldnʼt meet Hiron.

Hironʼs son couldnʼt tell the group of leaders that his father had left to meet another Level 4 tribe leader, so the group thought that Huo Jinglinʼs attack was done at the behest of the tribe.

The entry of a behemoth like the Helennis tribe into the war was a completely different situation. In the battle, there needed to be a winner and a loser, and the loser needed to have some chance of winning, or it was nothing more than a suicide attempt.

If the Helennis tribe became involved in the war, the other side had no chance of victory at all, so even before the war began, the tribes thought of giving up.

Hironʼs son could smell the conspiracy of a new party on the scene. He was unaware of the challengerʼs involvement in the war, but he was aware of why his father instigated it. The item that caused the war was a rare resource that could help his father reach closer to Level 5. In the range of one hundred thousand miles, there was no Level 5, so Hiron reaching that level was akin to becoming an overlord of that much territory.
