Pokémon Invasion: Explaining Pokémon to Save the World

There wasn’t much information about the World-Origin Tree, and Chen Mo had only explained it a few days ago. So, after a brief moment of recollection, countless viewers quickly found the most important point.

[If we’re talking about the most miraculous aspect of the World-Origin Tree, it has to be the fact that despite being a towering rocky mountain, it’s actually alive…]

“Correct.”

Having found the answer he wanted among the comments, Chen Mo slowly spoke.

“Putting aside the matter of dragging continents, there’s another widely circulated story about Regigigas. According to legend, Regigigas once used special rocks, glaciers, and magma to create three special Pokémon that resembled itself. Their names were Regirock, Regice, and Registeel.”

“To be honest, when I first heard this legend, I wondered what kind of extraordinary rocks could possibly allow Regigigas to create a Legendary Pokémon.”

“But now, the answer is quite clear.”

“The World-Origin Tree, which has existed since the birth of the world and possesses life itself—the rocks taken from its body are the most extraordinary rocks in existence!”

Before Chen Mo had even finished speaking, the entire livestream had already erupted into unprecedented turmoil.

[Holy crap! Holy crap! Holy crap! Teacher Mo, what did you just say!? You mean that Pokémon called Regirock, which Regigigas created, is a Legendary Pokémon!? Then what about the other two made from glaciers and magma…]

[The answer is obvious! They’re all sculpted by the same dad! There’s no way Regice and Registeel are any weaker than Regirock!]

[Three Legendary Pokémon!? And they were literally handmade!? Damn, the Lord of the Colossi is even more awesome than Ho-Oh, isn’t he!?]

[What does Ho-Oh count for in front of Regigigas? Now that we’ve confirmed souls really exist, the hardest part of creating life is giving it a soul!]

[Exactly! Ho-Oh merely resurrected three dead Pokémon. If we’re talking about actually creating Pokémon, you have to look at Regigigas! From now on, I’m voting for the Lord of the Colossi as the strongest!]

[I was wondering why there were murals of Regigigas inside the World-Origin Tree. Now we’ve solved the mystery.]

[Ho-Oh is dead. Regigigas shall rise!]

“These people!!!”

Although he was inside the Shadow World, Marshadow could directly peer into Chen Mo’s mind and see the livestream comments perfectly clearly.

Knowing that every single comment represented an actual human, Marshadow was practically furious.

It had been fine before.

Whenever viewers compared the Legendary Pokémon in terms of strength, the arguments could get quite heated, but Marshadow knew that Ho-Oh actually held the advantage.

But today, the moment Regigigas appeared—the Legendary Pokémon that had also created other Legendary Pokémon—it was practically a devastating blow to some of Ho-Oh’s supporters.

“I don’t care! Lord Ho-Oh is the strongest!”

Marshadow gritted its teeth, yellow-green flames crackling above its head.

“Chen Mo! Give me your phone! Forget it, I’ll get it myself!”

Using the shadows on the ground for cover, Marshadow quickly slipped into Gengar’s shadow. After retrieving the phone Gengar used every day, it immediately opened the livestream.

It was just about to passionately argue with the commenters when—

Marshadow suddenly realized something extremely serious.

It couldn’t read.

“Chen Mo!!!”

Chen Mo had witnessed the entire spectacle and could only feel helpless.

Why are you yelling so loudly…

You can’t read. What am I supposed to do to teach you how to read right now…

Besides.

Chen Mo felt that he had already been quite restrained when explaining Regigigas to the viewers.

He hadn’t even mentioned that Regigigas had actually created five different species of Legendary Pokémon.

After thinking for a moment, Chen Mo decided he had better change the subject.

Otherwise, judging from the current atmosphere in the livestream, Marshadow would eventually go berserk.

“As for why Regigigas created these pillar-like Pokémon that resemble itself, there’s a relatively well-accepted theory in the academic community of another world.”

“And some viewers actually mentioned it earlier.”

“It was most likely because of loneliness.”

“When the world was first born, there weren’t many forms of life capable of communication. Regigigas, which had long been accustomed to living alone, might not even have understood what loneliness was at first.”

“But after dragging the continents and passing through countless ages, by the prehistoric era, Pokémon and humans had gradually begun becoming active throughout the world.”

“Everyone knows that most Pokémon, as well as humans, live their daily lives in groups.”

“And it may have been during that period that Regigigas first experienced what loneliness and solitude actually meant.”

“Seeing humans and Pokémon longing to travel alongside companions, Regigigas developed the idea of creating members of its own kind for the first time.”

“Afterward, having witnessed three different eras, Regigigas used them as the basis to create three Pokémon bearing the characteristics of those respective ages—the Regirock and the others I mentioned earlier.”

“Regirock represents the Stone Age, Regice represents the Ice Age, and Registeel represents the Iron Age.”

As Chen Mo slowly narrated these myths whose truth could no longer be verified and which existed only in the mouths of countless people, the viewers gradually fell silent.

Across all the major livestreams in Xia, perhaps only Chen Mo’s stream possessed such a unique atmosphere.

When things got lively, they became extraordinarily lively.

But whenever Chen Mo began telling these mysterious stories about ancient legends, many people in the livestream would instinctively quiet down.

No matter what the viewers were thinking, Chen Mo had always enjoyed exploring ruins and uncovering the truth hidden behind legends.

Of course.

Now that legends were descending into this world, the more he understood about them, the more options he would have when eventually facing them.

While chatting with the viewers, Chen Mo walked along the ancient stone steps and continued toward the upper levels of the World-Origin Tree.

Clearly.

The story depicted by the murals wasn’t over yet.

When he reached a space that could barely be considered the third level, Chen Mo and everyone watching the livestream witnessed the birth of Regirock.

Compared with the Lord of the Colossi himself, the first Regirock born into this world was an extremely tiny little giant.

Regirock stared at its creator with an innocent, bewildered expression.

Meanwhile, Regigigas looked rather excited. It raised both hands high into the air, seemingly celebrating the fact that it finally had a member of its own kind.

A smile appeared on Chen Mo’s face.

He had a feeling.

Regigigas, which had always remained detached from the world, had finally taken its first step toward becoming part of it.

He continued forward.

On the fourth level.

The space was considerably smaller than before, but the mural was even more elaborate.

It was divided directly into three sections.

The moment Chen Mo stepped onto the upper level and noticed the contents of the mural, he froze.

On the far left was a mysterious Pokémon whose feathers were gold and red, its entire body enveloped in dazzling rainbow-colored light.

It was flying out of the World-Origin Tree, facing Regigigas, who was apparently trying to continue using rocks taken from the World-Origin Tree to sculpt another figurine.

Marshadow’s excited voice rang out in Chen Mo’s mind.

“It’s Lord Ho-Oh!”

That’s right.

The Pokémon depicted in the mural was none other than the one Marshadow had been longing to see—the mastermind behind the three Legendary beasts, the Rainbow God—

Ho-Oh!

And once Chen Mo confirmed the thoughts of countless viewers, the comments once again exploded.

[So this is Ho-Oh! It really looks incredibly impressive! It even comes with special effects when it appears. A rainbow stretches out from the World Tree, and its body is surrounded by seven-colored light. Most importantly, Ho-Oh doesn’t look intimidated by Regigigas at all!]

[The special effects really are amazing, but look carefully. Doesn’t Ho-Oh under all that light kind of look like a Fearow…?]

[What the hell, Fearow!? I’m warning you, Ho-Oh fans don’t tolerate that kind of nonsense! Don’t insult our Ho-Oh all day long!]

[Hahaha, no, brothers, look at Regigigas in the mural! The Lord of the Colossi is still holding the rock he broke off from the World-Origin Tree, and after seeing Ho-Oh emerge from the World Tree, it looks like someone who got caught red-handed stealing something from the owner!]

[That’s strange. Why did Ho-Oh suddenly emerge from inside the World-Origin Tree? Could the World-Origin Tree actually be Ho-Oh’s home?]

Faced with Ho-Oh bursting out of the World-Origin Tree, Regigigas was clearly bewildered.

It obviously hadn’t expected another Pokémon to be living inside the World-Origin Tree.

And so.

In the second mural, Regigigas had put down the rock it had taken from the World-Origin Tree.

The three pairs of eye-like circles on its body were half illuminated and half dark.

It spread its arms as if trying to explain something to Ho-Oh.

At Regigigas’s feet, Regirock placed one hand against its creator’s calf and timidly looked up at Ho-Oh, whose entire body radiated dazzling rainbow-colored light.

“See? What Lord of the Colossi? In front of my Lord Ho-Oh, it still has to behave itself!”

Marshadow stood inside the Shadow World with its hands on its hips, looking extremely smug.

Chen Mo had figured something out.

Whenever someone praised Lord Ho-Oh, Marshadow would immediately make this exact expression, just like an excited child.

However…

“Although we’ve discussed before that Ho-Oh may have lived inside the World-Origin Tree a very long time ago, Marshadow…”

“Ho-Oh here isn’t the real Ho-Oh.”

Chen Mo communicated with Marshadow through their mental link with practiced ease.

“What do you mean?”

Marshadow had just enjoyed a rare moment of triumph thanks to the mural and hadn’t yet understood.

But—

The next second.

After calming down, Marshadow saw the contents of the third mural through Chen Mo’s mind.

The sensible Gengar noticed Chen Mo turning slightly and immediately shifted the camera.

On the third mural, Ho-Oh’s figure had completely disappeared.

All that remained was Regigigas.

Its arms and legs were flailing in apparent panic, its head slightly lowered as though it had witnessed something completely unbelievable, while its body kept retreating in alarm.

[Where’s Ho-Oh!? Where did that huge Ho-Oh go!?]

[What happened!? Did we miss a mural?]

[No! Look down there! There’s another Regirock!]

[Huh?]

Following Regigigas’s gaze, they saw a Regirock standing beneath the World-Origin Tree.

It was staring from a distance at the Regirock standing in front of Regigigas.

Everyone was stunned.

Not only were the Regigigas and Regirock depicted in the mural bewildered, but countless viewers watching the livestream were equally confused.

“Wait, that doesn’t make sense.”

“Didn’t we just see that the second Regirock hadn’t been created yet?”

“Where did this Regirock come from?”

“Could it be that Regirock was actually an existing species of Pokémon all along?”

At the Anping City Pokémon Battle Center, Song Qingyun stared at the screen, his face covered in question marks.

At the same time, someone beside him spoke with a smile.

“Qingyun, you’ve really been influenced by Tianming.”

“Teacher Mo already said that Regirock was created by the Lord of the Colossi. So before the Lord of the Colossi had finished sculpting the second Regirock, how could there possibly be another one?”

“Therefore, it’s obvious.”

“That Regirock is actually the Ho-Oh from just now.”

“That’s why the Lord of the Colossi, who personally witnessed Ho-Oh transform into Regirock, looks so shocked.”

After being reminded, Song Qingyun immediately looked enlightened.

But then another wave of confusion surged through him.

“Wait, that doesn’t make sense either.”

“Does Ho-Oh actually have the ability to transform?”

“I don’t remember Teacher Mo mentioning anything about that when he explained Ho-Oh before!”

“As far as we know, there should currently be two Pokémon with transformation abilities.”

“First is the Zoroark beside Teacher Mo. Through illusions, it can achieve something resembling transformation.”

“Second is a Pokémon that exists in the Pokédex but Teacher Mo hasn’t encountered yet. It’s called Ditto. According to the brief description in the Pokédex, it possesses the ability to transform into other Pokémon.”

Xiao Fan spoke rapidly while staring at the mural.

After a brief pause, he added:

“But honestly, whether it’s Zoroark or Ditto, they’re both ordinary Pokémon.”

“It just feels… completely out of place with everything we’ve seen in these murals so far.”

Just as everyone’s confusion was reaching its peak, Chen Mo’s voice slowly came from off-screen.

“Although the World-Origin Tree possesses life, it basically has no self-awareness.”

“However, there is one Legendary Pokémon that has a symbiotic relationship with the World-Origin Tree.”

“It is a being that lives alongside the World Tree.”

“Therefore, it can also be regarded as the consciousness of the World Tree.”

“Its name is—”

“Mew!”
