Pokémon Invasion: Explaining Pokémon to Save the World

[That day, humanity finally remembered the terror of once being ruled by giants, and the humiliation of being imprisoned in a birdcage.]

[The guy above, you’re watching the wrong anime~]

[Holy crap, is that Xingtian!? It doesn’t even have a head!]

[It should be a Pokémon, right? But isn’t this thing way too huge!?]

[Teacher Mo mentioned before that among ordinary Pokémon, the largest in terms of physical size is Wailord. The Pokémon in this mural is obviously even larger than Wailord, so I can confidently say it’s a Legendary Pokémon. (Confident face)]

[It’s not like we haven’t seen Legendary Pokémon in Teacher Mo’s livestream before. But this giant on the mural is practically about to pierce the heavens! Even the Light Giants from the M78 Nebula aren’t this tall!]

[Could it be like the secret realm situation at Hongjingpo Forest?]

Back when Chen Mo first entered the Arceus Ruins, many viewers had followed the camera he controlled and seen the gigantic mural of Zekrom at first glance.

Compared with Zekrom, who commanded thunder and lightning above the clouds, the Kingdom of Arceus below looked unbelievably tiny.

At the time, the viewers’ understanding of Pokémon was still fairly limited, so they had instinctively assumed that this was Zekrom’s normal size.

It wasn’t until later, when they saw the murals depicting Zekrom traveling alongside Arceus, that everyone realized the artist had simply used an exaggerated artistic style.

“This giant… should be the same, right…?”

Just as countless people were thinking this.

Chen Mo’s voice slowly came through the screen.

“If I had to classify this mural, I’d say it’s probably done in a realistic style.”

[???]

[Realistic style!? What the hell!?]

[Teacher Mo, you’re joking, right?]

Chen Mo glanced at the screen filled with question marks before turning his gaze back to the enormous mural.

He said softly.

“I’m not joking. The Pokémon depicted in this mural is called Regigigas. It belongs to the Legendary Pokémon category known as the ‘Colossal Pokémon.’ In the Pokémon world, it’s also known as a ‘Giant.’ Humans who worship Regigigas refer to it as the ‘Lord of the Colossi’ or the ‘King of the Colossi.’”

Even among Legendary Pokémon, there were differences in stature.

Just hearing titles like “Lord” and “King” was enough for many people to realize that this existence known as Regigigas was probably among the most extraordinary of Legendary Pokémon.

Facing the curiosity of countless viewers, Chen Mo didn’t deliberately keep them in suspense this time and quickly began explaining everything he knew about Regigigas.

“The history of the world where Pokémon originally lived actually has quite a few similarities to the history of our Earth.”

“But…”

“Because various Legendary Pokémon exist there, their tremendous powers caused history to diverge in certain ways.”

“And Regigigas occupies an extremely important position in the history of the Pokémon world.”

At this point, Chen Mo suddenly paused and asked the countless viewers in the livestream:

“I wonder how many of you learned about the theory of continental drift in elementary school.”

Although the question was somewhat strange, countless viewers in the livestream eagerly responded, looking just like children being called on in class.

[Back when I was in school, whenever we got new textbooks, the first things I read were always the Chinese and history books. I still remember quite a few of the stories in them. If I remember correctly, Teacher Mo should be talking about The Discovery Inspired by a World Map.]

[I’m extremely familiar with this! After listening to that lesson from my teacher, I felt like my entire understanding of the world had expanded. Before that, I’d never imagined that the continents separated by different oceans had once been connected into a single enormous landmass!]

[The continental drift hypothesis really is classic. But Teacher Mo, why did you suddenly bring this up? Does it have something to do with Regigigas?]

[Could it be…]

A vague yet exciting thought flashed through countless people’s minds.

Then.

Chen Mo gazed at the towering giant standing between heaven and earth and slowly said:

“In the world where Pokémon originally lived, countless regions have passed down a legend.”

“When the world was first born, there was a giant who once used ropes to drag the continents across the world!”

“And that giant was Regigigas!”

Before their screens.

Countless viewers widened their eyes, their hearts trembling.

After Chen Mo’s reminder, many people realized that Regigigas might have something to do with continental drift.

Perhaps it had used some kind of divine power to accelerate and influence the movement of the continents.

But…

Almost no one could have imagined that Regigigas had supposedly accomplished continental drift through such a brutally straightforward method.

It literally dragged the continents with ropes.

What the hell!?

The Legendary Pokémon of your world were way too ridiculous!

Was there anything they couldn’t do?

Create the world itself!?

“Fake… It has to be fake…”

For many foreigners watching the livestream, their first thought was simply that this Xiaxia person was unbelievably good at exaggerating.

And it wasn’t just them.

Even many viewers who had witnessed the abilities of Legendary Pokémon such as Suicune and Zapdos couldn’t help but feel a trace of doubt at this moment.

[Teacher Mo, it’s not that we don’t want to believe you, but… this… I really can’t imagine it. I don’t even dare imagine it. It’s terrifying. Truly terrifying!]

[If dragging continents is actually true, then if Regigigas threw a punch, who knows how many Zapdos-level Legendary Pokémon would die.]

[I’ve been watching the livestream for so long that allow me to raise one question. Forget how much strength Regigigas would need to drag continents—what kind of absurdly powerful rope could possibly withstand that? And with a giant this huge, wouldn’t its arrival in our world be impossible to conceal?]

[Don’t rush. Don’t rush. Teacher Mo already said they’re legends. Those are simply legends passed down through the ages.]

[I’m starting to wonder whether a Pokémon like Regigigas was completely fabricated in the first place.]

Chen Mo had long expected this reaction and remained perfectly calm.

The Eye of Investigation wasn’t useful here.

He was merely recounting what he knew about the legends surrounding Regigigas.

However…

Chen Mo glanced at some of the comments and quickly explained.

“Let’s put aside the matter of Regigigas dragging the continents for now.”

“But this Legendary Pokémon definitely exists.”

“As for whether it has descended into our world, my personal inclination is that it already has.”

“It’s simply sleeping somewhere in our world right now.”

“As for your question about why a Pokémon as enormous as Regigigas hasn’t been discovered, that’s because some Legendary Pokémon possess the ability to freely change their physical size.”

“Think about it. Those Legendary Pokémon that have existed since the birth of the world possess incredibly long lifespans.”

“They probably learned long ago that repeatedly entering deep slumber was an effective way to pass the vast stretches of time.”

“Shrinking their bodies would help reduce their energy consumption, allowing them to remain asleep for longer periods.”

Back at Cangqing Mountain, Chen Mo had witnessed Giratina attacking Zekrom under the influence of the Origin Power.

Although he couldn’t clearly remember Zekrom’s official size from the Pokédex in his previous life, judging from what he had seen at the time, it definitely didn’t match the Pokédex’s listed measurements.

Because of this, after becoming familiar with Marshadow, Chen Mo had specifically asked it about this matter.

And he had received precisely the answer he had just given.

At this moment, the entire livestream had completely erupted following Chen Mo’s explanation.

Countless viewers who had previously remained silent were now emerging from the shadows, discussing the Legendary Pokémon Regigigas without end.

[No wonder Regigigas in this mural looks so lonely. I guess eternal solitude really isn’t that pleasant.]

[The main problem is that Regigigas lived in an era that’s simply too ancient. It was basically a primordial wasteland with nothing around. If you gave me eternal life but let me live in modern society, though… Heh, just thinking about it is enough to make me ecstatic. I’d wait for the age of virtual gaming to arrive!]

[Does Teacher Mo mean that many Legendary Pokémon that have descended into our world are currently sleeping somewhere? If we disturb them, will they wake up with a bad temper?]

[I have to admit, Regigigas has the highest aura of all the Legendary Pokémon Teacher Mo has introduced so far!]

[LOL, if we’re talking about aura, we have to mention the ‘Rainbow God’ Ho-Oh that Teacher Mo introduced back in Evergreen Forest. I’ll just say one thing: Ho-Oh created three Legendary Pokémon. What does Regigigas have besides that completely unverifiable story about dragging continents?]

[If you guys are going that far, then I’m voting for Lugia. After all, Lugia was at least Ho-Oh’s colleague back in the day. Its strength probably isn’t inferior to Ho-Oh’s.]

[Teacher Mo is the Ideal Hero. How the hell can you not go all-in on Zekrom!? Brothers, I’m going in first! Zekrom is the strongest! I don’t accept any objections!]

Here we go again.

The livestream’s traditional segment.

Chen Mo helplessly sighed inwardly.

Whenever a new Pokémon appeared, viewers always liked comparing it with the Pokémon he had introduced previously, especially when it came to combat strength.

And whenever he introduced a Legendary Pokémon—

Well, then the livestream would become completely uncontrollable.

They hadn’t even seen the true forms of most of those Legendary Pokémon, yet they could still use Chen Mo’s previous snippets of information to argue endlessly with one another.

Chen Mo shook his head.

He decided to wait until the livestream calmed down a little before continuing his explanation.

First, he released the Pokémon in their Poké Balls.

Then he led them deeper into the interior of the World-Origin Tree.

From the outside, it was already possible to see stone bridges connecting the various spaces inside the World-Origin Tree.

Those bridges were clearly not naturally formed.

Chen Mo could more or less guess what had happened.

The World-Origin Tree and humanity had probably once enjoyed a long honeymoon period.

In fact, even in the modern era of the Pokémon world, the World-Origin Tree had apparently maintained some kind of connection with Aura Guardians around the world.

“Pika-pi!”

A cry interrupted Chen Mo’s thoughts.

Pikachu, who had gone ahead with Gible and Jirachi to scout the path, had already returned.

It beckoned Chen Mo over, saying that they had discovered another enormous mural on the level above.

Chen Mo wasn’t surprised at all.

After all.

The humans who had transformed the World-Origin Tree into what it was now couldn’t possibly have created only one mural here.

As he followed Pikachu forward, Chen Mo observed the livestream comments.

Although arguments about the relative strength and status of Legendary Pokémon were still present, they had diminished somewhat compared with before.

At least he could now see comments discussing other matters.

“Pika-pika!”

(It’s right here!)

Pikachu stopped ahead.

Chen Mo raised his head.

The next second.

His eyes widened slightly.

The central figure in the enormous mural was once again the Lord of the Colossi, Regigigas.

This time, it was sitting beside a gigantic tree that reached straight into the clouds.

Although its overall appearance differed somewhat from the tree they knew today, both Chen Mo and the viewers in the livestream immediately recognized it.

It was the World-Origin Tree.

What was Regigigas doing?

In the mural, Regigigas extended one hand toward the World-Origin Tree, which was considerably shorter than itself, and broke off a piece of rock from the tree.

In its other hand, it held a strange stone.

It resembled a humanoid figure, but clearly hadn’t yet been fully sculpted.

Chen Mo immediately understood.

The entire livestream instantly filled with question marks.

[Compared with the World-Origin Tree, Regigigas looks even bigger here…]

[I’m really curious what Regigigas is doing. Why does it look like it’s making an action figure? Am I imagining things?]

[You’re not imagining it. This bastard really is making an action figure, and it looks like he’s sculpting it in his own image!]

[We’re doomed. Earlier I said that with Regigigas’s stature and status, it would probably have a hard time making friends, so going into hibernation was probably unavoidable. But now it looks like Regigigas’s condition is even worse than we imagined. No friends, no family, so it decided to sculpt one for itself?]

[Heh, this idiot thinks he’s Ho-Oh or something? What’s the point of sculpting an action figure? It doesn’t have a real soul.]

[Actually, I think it’s pretty nice. So what if it doesn’t have a soul? Regigigas just needs something to relieve its loneliness. Sigh, suddenly I think Regigigas is kind of adorably dumb. Poor thing!]

The viewers continued arguing back and forth.

However.

At that moment.

Chen Mo, who had been silent for quite some time, suddenly spoke.

The next second.

The entire livestream erupted once again.

“Regigigas is indeed sculpting an action figure based on itself.”

“But this isn’t an ordinary action figure.”

“Everyone, think carefully about the information I’ve explained before regarding the World-Origin Tree.”
