Beneath the Red Dragon

Chapter 849: Chapter 147: Kings’ Convocation: In the Name of the Gods

In just over half a month, the entire Northern Continent of the Icaria World was surging with astonishing undercurrents beneath its surface calm.

Due to the conflict that erupted on the western coast of the Golden Empire, the prestigious Ancestral Red Dragon, the Dragon Emperor Karon Gogomola of the Golden Empire, was also called the ‘Divine Punishment Emperor’ by many.

The meaning is that even the Divine Spirits above feared this Giant Dragon’s thoughts and power, bringing down divine punishment.

However, although this briefly erupting battle shocked many, it remained unrelated to the ordinary people living in the mundane mortal world.

In comparison, the dynamics triggered by the Golden Empire due to the Dragon Madness Chaos became the focus of the entire Northern Continent and even the kingdoms and civilizations of other continents.

Not only the nobility and rulers up high were worried and fearful, but even the ordinary populace was in perpetual panic.

No matter how beautiful the propaganda of the Golden Empire might be, war is still war, and no one likes war because it means unexpected events and death.

Especially within the territories governed by the Northern Land Southern Noble Alliance, rumors were rife, and storm clouds gathered, leaving the people at the bottom in endless anxiety.

Of course, the citizenry of the Golden Empire is unmatched by any nation in this world, but the common people within the Southern Noble Alliance of the Northern Lands are not citizens of the Golden Empire.

In the Golden Empire, although the esteemed dragons certainly have fame, there are numerous stories and legends about them in the mortal world.

But within the Empire, the military corps and generals loyal to the Giant Dragons also have their reputations circulating among the common people.

For example, the Imperial Mad War Corps led by Barbarian Jib, where every member turns bloodthirsty on seeing blood, has an extremely wild battle style, typically skinning the enemy after killing them to sacrifice to the wild totem carried within them.

Therefore, Barbarian Jib is known as the ‘Skinflayer’ to the outside world.

The Dragon-blooded Centaur Chiron, who commands the Imperial Death Knights Heavy Armor Corps, is called the ‘Bone Breaker’ due to the Death Knights’ combat style.

In the past, whenever the Beastman Legions invading the Golden Empire were crushed by the Death Knights, there was almost no complete bone left on their bodies.

Dragon Descendant Werewolf Saha is known as “Bloody Skull”, and even Batorri, once a Grand Noble of humanity and Knight Order Leader of the Flying Dragon Knight Order, has been given an elegant name ‘Bloodthirsty Rose’.

Even the later-comer War Lizardman Legion Commander Reilly, who has not yet made any notable military achievements in external wars for the Empire, has earned the moniker ‘Black Hand’.

This is because this War Lizardman leader had once fought in the Empire’s central ‘Glory’ Gladiatorial Arena, and his two longsabers on the surface attack fiercely and are considered invincible.

But the third blade of this War Lizardman is said to be mysterious and elusive, often the decisive move that easily defeats the enemy, hence the name.

The reputations of these competent subordinates of the dragons in the eyes of the common folk are much worse than that of the dragons ruling the Empire, said to be enough to make children stop crying at night.

When children at home cry and make a fuss, saying that the dragons will come to take them away does not frighten them. Instead, it piques the children’s interest, leading them to ask more questions.

But if one brings up these ‘infamous’ dragon descendants, the children instantly become obedient.

However, from an outsider’s perspective, it is difficult to distinguish the affiliations and differences of the various corps of the Golden Empire, so they collectively refer to the Golden Empire’s corps as the “Beheader Corps”.

Because when opposing the Golden Empire, those terrifying warriors would cut down all enemy skulls after killing them, piling them into a pyre to showcase the military’s prowess.

In such circumstances, there were many fears and disturbances within the territories of the Southern Noble Alliance.

Moreover, the Golden Empire even gathered and invited several kings from the Northern Continent and the Western Continent for an alliance meeting, and when the news of the Eight Kings agreeing to convene for the meeting spread, it was as shocking as a tectonic shift.

Even the two Overlord Empires of the Central Continent dispatched many envoys to the Northern Continent for observation, and the farthest Southern Continent could not sit still, with countless diplomat groups from various kingdom civilizations arriving one after another in the turbulent Northern Continent.

Initially, the Southern Noble Alliance attempted to appease the people’s hearts within their territories by claiming that the Golden Empire had no conclusive evidence.

But as the Golden Empire’s propaganda department went all out, the real culprit behind the Golden Empire’s suffering in the ‘Dragon Madness Chaos’ has been placed upon the heads of those Southern Nobles amidst overwhelming public opinion.

If those Southern Nobles’ hands were truly clean, they could still find ways to divest themselves of suspicion.

Yet with the Green Dragon Antajena remotely manipulating the spies and minstrels of the Harpist Alliance with the ‘Devil’s Poison’ potion, along with a few people stepping forward as witnesses, the instigator of the war has been completely established.

These nobles like to use the excuse of justice against others, and the Golden Empire will make these nobles taste the same, making them realize that nothing will save them from regret.

War is not something that can be started on a whim; it also requires significant effort to mobilize military preparations and ensure logistics support.

And within this short month, not only was it the Golden Empire’s time to mobilize for war preparation, but it was also time for the Golden Empire to let the Southern Nobles similarly experience the ordeal of strategic annihilation.
