I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 144: Chapter 129: Moving Into the New Home

”You’ve truly worked hard.”

In the blink of an eye, the sky was turning dark.

Gauss and Aaliyah had been busy all day, and finally, things were settled.

They met with the intermediary, discussed, finalized details, ran to the food workshop to commission processing...

The jerky was paid to be processed by a merchant, and it would take a week to complete, and that’s an expedited result; otherwise, it would take even longer following normal procedures.

Moreover, the finished product should have a reduction in weight, producing only about two hundred pounds of compressed jerky.

Of course, for Gauss, it was enough to eat for quite a while.

After all, these frog thigh essence jerkies are absolutely high-calorie foods.

Even a hundred grams were enough to chew for a long time.

But in future missions, he still needs to carry some other food, perhaps less dry food, but he can’t go without it entirely.

Firstly, it’s to maintain nutritional balance and avoid long-term intake of a single food.

Secondly, as demon jerky, although it doesn’t affect him, apparently Aaliyah can’t eat too much in a short time, or her mouth will go completely numb.

It’s clearly a delicacy, but due to a weak digestive system, she can’t consume it in large quantities, something Gauss genuinely felt sorry for her.

Then there was buying clothes and shoes, followed by a visit to the house for a site inspection and signing the contract.

...

At this moment, Gauss collapsed on the chair, not wanting to move at all.

Feeling that these daily chores are more exhausting than killing monsters.

But he looked at this standalone two-story small house bought for 1 gold and 15 silver.

In the small living room, the oil lamp emitted a warm yellow glow, and the orange-purple sunset outside the window streamed into the room, evoking a sense of warmth in his heart.

Gauss felt it was all worth it.

After being in this world for half a year, he finally had a place to rest.

”So... this will be my home from now on?”

Gauss felt a bit dazed.

Living through two lifetimes, this was the first time he bought a property.

In his previous life, he was just an ordinary worker who had just left college and naturally couldn’t afford a house.

In the past, this body’s owner always took this as a goal for his struggle.

But the progress, well, couldn’t be said to be swift; it could only be described as unattainable.

Or, in the eyes of outsiders, buying a house for this poor country boy had nothing to do with reality, just a foolish kid’s unrealistic fantasy, busy running around all day.

Now finally realized, Gauss felt a bit mixed in emotions.

”Need to buy some furniture..... A counter is needed here... The curtains on the window are a bit dirty, should we wash them or replace them with new ones...”

Aaliyah walked around the living room, advising Gauss along the way.

This house initially had some furniture but wasn’t particularly complete, and Gauss would definitely need to buy some later.

Fortunately, temporarily living here wouldn’t be a big problem.

Especially for Gauss, who mastered ”Magic Tricks” and ”Dance of Wind”, he planned to use magic tonight to thoroughly clean the house, especially the main bedroom, bed, wardrobe, and bathroom.

It’s crucial to make significant areas spotless, removing the traces left by the previous owner.

”Then, I won’t disturb you...”

”Won’t you join me for dinner?”

”Forget it, you just moved in, you probably have many personal items to organize, keep it up.” Aaliyah encouraged Gauss before leaving his little house, heading towards her place not far away.

Gauss rested for a while.

He then sat up from the chair, stretched lazily, and took out the White Bone Staff from his Storage Pouch.

”Next... is a tough battle!”

”Dance of Wind!”

”Magic Tricks!”

”This wooden floor is a bit damaged... Repair Technique!”

...

In the following hours.

Gauss kept using tricks to clean the room. Occasionally, when encountering damaged small items or furniture, he would use Repair Technique to see if he could fix them; of course, not every attempt was successful.

When the magic power was exhausted, he began to use energy from the Energy Storage Glands to replenish magic power while eating to restore energy and continuously clean the house afterward.

This cycle repeated.

By midnight.

Gauss looked at the newly transformed, shining wooden floor of the house, finally breathing out in relief.

Who could tell that this is a second-hand ”old house”, even new ones couldn’t be this bright and tidy.

Even if you hire someone specifically to clean, they could never achieve this effect. After all, no matter how diligently you clean, it only makes the house clean, but they can’t restore old, damaged items.

This is the magical power of Magic!

Though Gauss consumed much of his energy, he was still very satisfied with the cleaning results.

Moreover, there’s a small gain — several tricks increased in proficiency due to extensive use.

”Magic Tricks proficiency +5”

”Dance of Wind proficiency +3”

”Repair Technique proficiency +3”

The Dance of Wind and Repair Technique both leveled up from lv1 to lv2 in proficiency.

Gauss went to the kitchen, lit the flame, boiled some hot water on the stove, moved it to the large tub in the bathroom, mixed it with cold water to regulate the temperature, and happily soaked in.

Wrapped in a towel, leaning on the tub, watching the steaming heat, Gauss’s vision gradually blurred.

Yet, his heart gradually settled, a feeling of peace emerged.

A small home is established.

Though it seemed bought with money, it was actually a modest benefit brought by his substantial professional-level capabilities.

Next, he needed to continuously strive, improve personal strength levels, and endeavor to lead a better life in this world.

”Gauss, come over here, there’s something for you.”

Though he had acquired a house and later officially invited a few acquaintances to celebrate at his place, Gauss still scheduled gatherings at the hotel lobby.

He had just entered, and Sofia called him over.

”There’s something for me?”

Gauss looked at the well-wrapped parcel in Sofia’s hand, a question mark over his forehead.

Did this era also have deliveries? Yet he hadn’t made any recent purchases?

He lacked a lot of acquaintances, if anything needed handover, it should be given face-to-face, no need to trouble placing it at the hotel counter, asking Sofia to hand it over.

”Who sent it?” Gauss took the parcel, asking curiously.

”It was a skinny girl, covered with a black cloak, walking like a cat, making no sound, scaring me when she came.”

Hearing Sofia’s description, Gauss had a faint guess in his mind.

Opening the parcel, what appeared before Gauss was a set of adventure mechanisms and disassembly tools, along with a letter.
