I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 115: Chapter 109: Newcomer Benefits and Ascending the Tower

”Please come in.”

The two walked into the office.

Shirley saw who it was, and recognized them as the newcomer Professional who had piqued her interest last time, so she couldn’t help but take a few more glances.

Regardless of being a man or a woman, they would subconsciously admire a good-looking opposite sex.

Being a Warlock, influenced by the supernatural factors in her bloodline, her desires in this aspect were stronger than ordinary people’s.

”Lady Shirley, Adventurer Gauss has completed three assessment commissions. Please check.”

”So fast?”

Shirley took the Recording Crystal Stone, held it in her hand, closed her eyes for a moment, then reopened her brown eyes.

She looked at Gauss with interest.

”There’s indeed no issue.”

”Congratulations, Adventurer Gauss, from now on, you are a Bronze Level Adventurer.”

Upon hearing the words of the lady Warlock, Gauss suddenly felt at ease inside.

Not as excited as he had imagined.

At this moment, surprisingly, his inner self was very calm.

Gauss analyzed briefly, thinking it might be because his strength was far beyond that of ordinary newcomer Professionals, so he was always certain of smoothly passing the assessments and being promoted to Bronze Level Adventurer.

Everything was simply a matter of course, naturally there wasn’t much excitement to feel.

Yet he still felt happy.

”Gauss, please come over here for a moment.” Shirley stood up, twisted her waist, and walked over to a small inconspicuous platform in the corner of the room.

”Put your hand on it.”

”What is this?”

”Recording the information, receive your Bronze Level Identity Badge.” Shirley explained a bit. ”It’s a special Magic Item that can recognize your spiritual fluctuations and upload it to the Adventurer’s Guild headquarters. After this, wherever you go to any branch of the Adventurer’s Guild, you can enjoy the corresponding benefits by presenting the Identity Badge.”

After Gauss listened, he put his hand onto it.

The smooth surface flashed a bright light the instant it touched his palm, then swiftly returned to calm.

It seemed... nothing special felt.

”It’s done.” Shirley said.

Gauss raised his hand, and the next moment, a delicate badge appeared on the platform.

It was a badge approximately the size of an egg.

Its shape was sleek, overall showing an indigo gradual hue, with a small hexagram in the center, surrounded by green glow like will-o’-the-wisp.

The Identity Badge was simple but not plain.

Quite good-looking.

This was Gauss’s first impression.

”Here is your Bronze Adventurer Identity Badge, please keep it well; if lost, it requires a fee of 1 gold to replace.”

”1 gold, that expensive?” Gauss immediately turned to look at Shirley.

Such a small badge costs that much?

”Yes, no matter which branch you go to for a replacement, the price is the same.”

After confirming he hadn’t heard wrong, Gauss quickly tightened his grip on the Identity Badge in his hand; being so expensive, he must take good care of it, losing it once and replenishing it would hurt for several days.

”The Identity Badge also records all the tasks you have accomplished.”

”And by the way, you should also remember to collect the commission from the task you just completed, 1 gold 30 silver coins.”

”Thanks for the reminder.”

”Additionally, the Adventurer’s Guild provides every Bronze Level Adventurer a rookie package; Gauss, you’re lucky, catching the good timing, it’s a welfare policy implemented only in recent ten years. We didn’t have it back then.”

Under Gauss’s direct gaze, Shirley grabbed several items from the air and placed them on the table.

She began introducing them one by one to Gauss.

”Firstly, this is a ’Meditation Method’, although I’m not clear about your specific Profession, most profession related to Casting cannot do without it; Meditation Method can help you gradually stabilize and enhance Magic Power.”

The first introduced item was a book.

Gauss nodded.

Andri had mentioned the Meditation Method to him, which is a Magic Item documenting the method of refining Magic Power.

At the apprentice stage, when the mind isn’t stable enough, ordinary people reading the information on it are prone to harm; as light as dizziness or as heavy as brain death, hence these resources are hardly circulated in the market.

Only when reaching Professional level, with greatly enhanced spiritual power and stability, can one access the Meditation Method through various institutions.

At that time, Andri recommended that he quickly purchase it after rising to Bronze Adventurer; its price wasn’t particularly high.

But perhaps she had been away from the frontlines too long, her information was somewhat outdated.

Unexpectedly, now the Meditation Method is gifted freely as a newcomer benefit.

Predecessor, the ”version updated”.

The newer, more newbie-friendly ”version” saved him one chunk of expense.

”Next is the ’Demon Introduction Manual’, compiled by the Adventurer’s Guild, providing an illustrated guide of common Demons. As an Adventurer, you need to familiarize yourself with its contents, characteristics, and weaknesses of various Demons, so later when facing Demons never encountered before, you won’t be at a loss.”

”And here is the ’Adventurer’s Guide’, it records potential doubts you may encounter, ways to advance Profession level, realm division, adventurer level upgrade, basic Guild benefits, and such information.”

”Finally is a cash prize of 5 gold coins.”

”That’s all.”

”Thank you so much.” Gauss received the rookie package, and finally couldn’t restrain his joy on his face.

Every reward was exactly what he needed.

The Meditation Method could help increase his Magic Power, the Demon Introduction Manual could broaden his understanding of more Demons, the Adventurer’s Guide could clarify queries regarding future Profession paths and the development of adventurer career, the cash, 5 gold coins, was even more like a timely help.

Just about to spend money on supplies, these 5 gold coins came very timely.

Moreover, 5 gold coins weren’t a small amount.

The pure commission from his first three preliminary assessment tasks did not add up to 5 gold coins; now, without doing anything, it’s directly handed to him.

Rarely could he enjoy the happiness of gaining without labor.

”Then next, I won’t hold you any longer, as presumably you have many things to deal with now.” As a newcomer mentor, Shirley, after introducing various info, didn’t chat idly with Gauss like last time, though she was quite interested in it.

However, she understood that every freshly promoted Bronze Level Adventurer would enter a busy period.

”Then I’m off now.”

After simply expressing gratitude, Gauss and Petra impatiently left the office.

”Going to the second floor next?” Petra clearly knew why he hurried.

”Yes.” Gauss nodded.

Previously, he had always watched other Bronze Adventurers climbing to the second floor among the crowd.

Now he finally could get a glimpse of the second floor’s appearance.

Moreover, he himself also carried a clear goal, cherished for long.

Exiting the hall.

Instantly turned noisy.

”I’ll first help you collect the commission for the task just now.”

Petra took Gauss’s Identity Badge and proceeded to the counter.

Then handed over a money pouch to Gauss.

Gauss counted the sum.

After confirming it was indeed 1 gold 30 silver coins.

He nodded to Petra to express farewell.

Stepped forward, heading towards the staircase facing the main door in the first-floor hall.

Two armored guards stood on either side of the staircase.

Gauss showed his Bronze Adventurer Badge, and the guards immediately saluted respectfully to let him pass.

In the hall, other Bottom Adventurers noticed this scene and quietly etched Gauss’s figure in their minds.

Young man, black hair cyan eyes, wielding a rapier, not to be trifled with.

Gauss stepped onto the wide staircase carpeted with a red carpet, his heartbeat couldn’t help speeding up.

The staircase was double-run, after finishing the first run, either mirrored set of stairs could reach the second floor.

One step, two steps...

Finally, the scenery of the Guild’s second floor appeared in Gauss’s view.

Far more translucent open ceiling height than the first floor, for a moment, made Gauss confusedly feel like this was the true first floor, and what used to be just the basement.

Unlike the crowded and cramped first floor, this environment here was bright, sunny, and as soon as stepping into the second-floor area, the downstairs noise seemed muted; no more traces of sound could be heard.

In the center of the second floor was a glass atrium with excellent lighting, the azure sky comforting one’s heart.

Around the central hall were numerous shops, task halls, pervasive rest tables and chairs, small groups of adventurers in elite gear chatting quietly.

Everyone exuded a sharp presence, at least, appearing so in the current environment.
