I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 91: Chapter 86: Slaying the Mantis People 2

With a fierce push off the ground, his leg acted like a spring, compressing against the ground, propelling his entire body high into the air!

”Jump Slash!”

His spine bent backward like a taut bow, his neck, chest, and abdomen forming a tense arc in mid-air, presenting the shape of an inverted crescent moon.

The raised Great Sword tore through the air with a thunderous roar, striking savagely toward the target ahead.

This all-out, imposing attack, even a life-for-a-life tactic, forced the Mantis People to momentarily abandon Gauss from afar and turn to use its auxiliary limbs to block Sok’s slash.

”Clang!!”

After the loud metallic clash, sparks burst forth.

Sok, leveraging the impact inertia, skill, the gravity potential from the downward Jump Slash, and forcibly activating his bloodline power, delivered a combined strike that reached nearly the limit of his current attack power!

However, the physical gap between Sok and the Mantis People was still too large.

The unguarded Mantis People, in the initial turn, couldn’t fully exert its strength and only stepped back slightly.

Once it stabilized its figure, its full power burst again through its upper limbs.

”Bang!!”

Sok’s weapon was knocked away, and under the enormous recoil, he stumbled back two steps, using his numb, trembling arms to support himself on the ground to avoid falling.

”Cold Touch.”

Beside him, the trick Lawrence released finally hit the Mantis People for the first time.

The blue bone hand touched the surface of the Mantis People’s body, and a chilling undead aura seeped into its body through the bone hand.

This chilling energy made it tremble all over, causing an extremely short pause, preventing it from further attacking the wide-open Sok.

Gauss, climbing up from the ground, also captured the hard-earned attack opportunity created by the two.

He gripped the White Bone Staff tightly again and launched a Magic Missile, accompanied by a brilliant burst of light from the staff!

”Magic Missile!”

Not just one, but two consecutive missiles were rapidly shot out.

”Whoosh!!”

Unfortunately, perhaps due to the Mantis People’s overly keen Perception and agility, or perhaps its head’s small target area, the first missile, which Gauss had high hopes for, aiming for the head, was dodged as it tilted its head, brushing past its cheek.

Fortunately, the second one, likewise targeting another abdominal weakness, managed to hit.

Like most shell-covered creatures, its waist and abdomen, where the respiratory spiracles also cluster, were concentrated here, and to ensure body flexibility and agility, the shell strength was relatively low.

Moreover, the waist and abdomen area was larger, making it harder to dodge.

Plus, the Mantis People seemed to experience another brief stiffness just now.

”Boom!!!”

The Magic Missile successfully hit the Mantis People’s waist and abdomen, blooming in a brilliant light.

A massive force spread from the explosion center, with the impact force even knocking over the more than two meters tall Mantis People.

Lawrence and Sok’s eyes widened, showing delight on their faces.

”Thud thud thud!”

The Mantis People staggered forward a few steps, barely stabilizing itself, and on its back waist area, the originally light brown shell was now scorched black, with yellow-green viscous liquid subtly oozing, though it hadn’t entirely pierced through its armor, it evidently caused some damage.

Gauss, after rapidly launching two Magic Missiles, was panting heavily.

His Magic Power was still sufficient, but the rapid consumption within a short time made Gauss somewhat fatigued, with sweat continually dripping from his forehead.

Fortunately, it was all worth it.

The successive Magic Missiles finally inflicted a substantial wound on the Mantis People.

With one success, there could be a second.

Moreover, Gauss vaguely noticed a detail just now...

While Gauss was silently pondering and briefly catching his breath,

the Mantis People regained its posture, only to be hit again by an arrow from the Ranger Apprentice Bianca not far away.

”Thump!”

The metallic arrowhead struck the Mantis People’s chest armor, leaving a white mark where it hit.

Noticing the successful hit, a smile appeared on Bianca’s face.

Though it didn’t penetrate the enemy’s armor, as long as it could cause damage, it indicated the battlefield situation was increasingly tipping in their favor.

With their numerical advantage, they would eventually be able to wear down and exhaust the opponent to death.

Especially after Gauss had just succeeded in hitting a forceful Magic Missile, leaving a clear mark, it reignited their previously waning morale, giving them renewed hope of victory.

They could win!

The Mantis People, already agitated due to the Magic Missile impact causing persistent pain in its abdomen, now felt insulted as the annoying ”mosquito” it had consistently ignored had successfully hit it and showed a seemingly taunting joy.

The Mantis People appeared to feel humiliated.

Its attention finally shifted from Gauss.

The red compound eyes stared intently at Bianca!

”Swoosh!”

Despite getting hit by the Magic Missile on its waist and abdomen, it didn’t lose its mobility capability, if anything, it only slightly reduced its movement speed.

But this speed deficit might, for most present, make no significant difference.

”Watch out!” Gauss, having just adjusted his breathing, suddenly felt a bad premonition seeing this scene.

Yet, as soon as he spoke,

the Mantis People had already leaped in front of Bianca.

The towering shadow engulfed his figure.

Before he could react,

the sharp, scythe-like forelimb sliced through the air, leaving a white streak, finally slashing diagonally at Bianca’s neck.
