I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 88: Chapter 85: The End of the Dungeon_2

But considering there were seven people in the team, this number was actually quite substantial.

One couldn’t expect temporary teammates to weaken the monsters and then hand the final blow to him.

On one hand, he didn’t have that much influence, and on the other hand, it was indeed impossible.

Monsters weren’t something you could easily mold; they weren’t pushovers that you could handle as you wished.

So, Gauss was quite satisfied with this kill efficiency.

The main thing was the consistency, with a certain number of kills recorded every day.

Compared to those missions requiring a lot of time searching for monsters and traveling long distances, the efficiency here was much higher.

Wake up, wash up, eat, organize equipment, go down the dungeon every day.

Although the process was monotonous and oppressive, if it could continue, he was actually willing to endure it.

Unfortunately, this exploration was coming to an end, and who knew when they’d have such an opportunity again.

Opportunities to explore such uncharted ancient civilization dungeons weren’t always available.

After roasting the rabbit, everyone shared a bit to eat, and a simple meal was over.

Gauss watched others return to their tents to rest.

He stood up to add some wood to the campfire; he was the first to watch the night tonight.

”Boom!”

After adding fuel, the flame soared and burned more vigorously!

...

”Rumble!!”

The deafening rolling sound behind them grew louder!

”Tatatata!”

The urgent and orderly footsteps echoed rapidly in the sloped passageway.

In the narrow passage, Gauss and the others ran swiftly, sweat dripping down their skin and splattering tiny droplets on the ground!

”Sure enough, I shouldn’t have agreed to Lawrence’s half-time champagne ’celebration party’ yesterday, nor asked Sok about the money issue.” Gauss, sandwiched in the middle of the team and soaked in sweat, kept running.

But hearing the increasingly loud rumble behind him, he dared not stop.

The exploration that day had started smoothly until they entered this narrow passage. Before long, it was like a hidden mechanism was activated, and a massive boulder with a two-meter diameter dropped, relentlessly pursuing them with gravity’s potential energy.

The team was forced to keep running forward in the passage.

Stopping meant becoming minced meat.

”Are we near the next exit yet?”

The sloped passage was terrifyingly long.

Under the pressure of the boulder, everyone squeezed out all their strength, desperately accelerating.

”Almost there!” Sok at the front had already seen a sliver of light at the tunnel’s end.

”Run faster!!”

Lawrence at the end of the team shouted loudly towards the front.

He initially thought the last position was safe, but now he felt it was terrible.

If the boulder rolled over, he’d be the first to die.

Under the team’s desperate run, the light at the end gradually enlarged!

”Boom boom!!”

Almost simultaneously, as everyone dashed out of the passage, diving to the side, the massive boulder rolled out too.

The scattering splinters flew out, crashing at everyone’s feet.

They watched with hearts racing.

A second slower, and they’d have been crushed into pulp by this giant stone.

Unexpectedly, the first soul-stirring crisis of this dungeon exploration was brought on by a rock.

”Bam!”

As the team members lay on the ground, gasping heavily, the massive boulder fell into the groove right at the room’s center.

”Thud!!”

The heavy stone gate dropped again at the passage they came through, sealing their retreat.

They were used to this.

This wasn’t the first time it happened.

So, what monster would appear?

Lying on the ground panting, everyone blinked and suddenly realized something was off.

The ceiling above seemed absurdly high, at least ten meters high.

With a sideways glance at the whole room, unlike the previous small rooms of dozens of square meters, this place was spacious like a small plaza at first glance.

”Something’s wrong here! Be careful, everyone!”

Having just survived a life-and-death moment, the team’s nearly relaxed hearts tensed once more.

This place didn’t look right at all.

Unlike any room they had encountered before.

”Rumble!”

As everyone anxiously got up.

The ground began to tremble.

The few who hadn’t completely gotten up quickly supported themselves on the ground, maintaining balance.

They focused their gaze towards the room’s end, where the vibration was coming from.

They saw a stone cage slowly squeezing out of the tall rock wall.

”Bang!!!”

As the stone cage squeezed out, it shattered like an eggshell, and amidst the dust, a sound of shells scraping echoed.

A tall humanoid monster finally stepped out of the shadows, appearing before everyone!

Its height was about two and a half meters, covered in a chitinous hard shell with a metallic sheen, with four scythe-like forelimbs, and a pair of stronger and sturdier hind limbs.

The gigantic, menacing mantis head had a pair of compound eyes glowing red and serrated blade-like mandibles.

”It’s a Sriklan Mantis People!!”

Seeing its form clearly, Lawrence’s pupils contracted sharply as he gasped.

For the seven-member team, the mantis person with a Challenge Level 1 was a deadly foe!

Gauss gulped.

Even from a distance, he felt an amazing aura of power emanating from it.
