I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 89: Chapter 85: The Dungeon’s End_3

It’s as if they are facing a towering, terrifying Hunter, and they are the locked-on prey.

Suddenly, the Mantis People’s long, insect-like, reverse-jointed lower limbs compressed downward. In the next moment, they sprang forward with powered force, joints snapping crisply, propelling its body into a rapid advance.

”Tap!”

”Tap!”

”Tap!”

In the empty room, the sound of each of its leaps was exceptionally clear.

In a few flickers, its figure flashed by like a brown shadow. When it reached the center of the room, it suddenly stomped on the ground, using the momentum to easily leap onto the giant stone sphere in the room’s center, looking down at the seven of them.

Gauss gripped the White Bone Staff tightly; he could feel the indifferent killing intent conveyed through those compound eyes without any emotion.

”Be careful!”

Everyone slowly spread out.

Holding their weapons, they cautiously watched in the direction of the Mantis People.

One has to admit, the sense of oppression it gave the squad was indeed strong.

Whether it was the exaggeratedly tall physique or the fierce speed with which it had leaped over, all indicated that this was an extremely terrifying opponent, akin to a slaughter machine capable of easily massacring ordinary people.

The Ranger Apprentice Bianca drew back the string of her longbow with a resonating twang, and in the next moment, suddenly released a sharp arrow spiraling towards the Mantis People at an incredibly terrifying speed.

”Whoosh!!”

Under the skill’s enhancement, this arrow’s speed was at least twice as fast as those shot by normal Archers.

The arrow tore through the air, forming a black line directly targeting the Mantis People atop the giant rock!

The Mantis People’s compound eyes glowed red abruptly!

In an instant, its lower limbs dipped slightly, and its body seemed to flicker a short distance to the side.

”Swish!!”

The arrow was dodged, scraping past its body and continuing to shoot into the distance, finally embedding itself into the rock surface, breaking apart.

Unscathed!

Gauss swallowed.

It was also through Bianca’s attack that he keenly felt the agility that greatly belied its towering physique.

The arrow shot by Bianca after using the skill was incredibly fast, not lagging in speed too much behind his Magic Missile.

In other words, if the Mantis People could react to Bianca’s arrow, it could also track and see his Magic Missile!

”It’s coming over.”

Gauss suddenly observed the Mantis People’s power-gathering, downward movement.

He quickly warned his teammates.

The group moved swiftly, forming a front-line melee with ranged in the back, fan-shaped for support.

Just as Gauss finished speaking, the Mantis People shot out again, soaring through the air. In several jumps, it heavily landed on the ground where the team had been.

”Boom!!”

This sound also slammed into the hearts of the team members.

What speed.

In an instant, anxiety filled their hearts.

”Damn monster!”

The hands of the two Warriors holding their weapons and shields trembled slightly, but they didn’t forget their duties.

They raised their shields facing the Mantis People, shouting to draw its hatred.

As expected, after noticing the two ”little guys” nearby, the Mantis People turned its head, its compound eyes icily staring at them.

Its lower limbs sank, and in the next instant, it was in front of Liam.

So fast!

The mantis claws tore through the air.

”Whoosh!”

The shield Liam held in front was directly batted away by the secondary limbs, and after that, the primary limbs slashed with a claw attack, sending Liam flying.

”Splash!!!”

Liam, thrown back two or three meters, rolled twice, his face suddenly turning pale, bloodless.

”Cough, cough!”

Blood oozed from Liam’s mouth as he looked towards the tall silhouette of the Mantis People, his pupils trembling!

Just one strike had already rendered the Warrior in the team incapacitated!

”Magic Missile!”

Taking advantage of the brief moment the Mantis People paused after attacking, Gauss finally locked onto its figure.

If the target was too far or moving too fast, it was challenging to complete the lock-on, but fortunately, the Mantis People had to pause momentarily when attacking.

A bright blue Missile shot out from the staff’s tip!

Originally preparing for a second attack, the Mantis People sensed threatening attack waves coming from a certain direction in front and had to shift its body.

The nimble secondary limbs struck at the trajectory of the incoming Magic Missile!

”Boom!!!”

At the moment of contact between the Magic Missile and the sharp claw blade, a heavy force was immediately exerted on the Mantis People’s forelimbs.

”Crack, crack, crack!”

Compared to the arrow, this Magic Missile was closer and more unexpected.

”Thud!!”

The Mantis People staggered backward, forced to retreat a few steps.

But before the Magic Missile exploded, it still managed to slightly alter its flight path with quick claw strikes.

Moreover, using this slight space, it jumped in the opposite direction over a distance.

The deflected Magic Missile exploded in the air, producing a violent sound.

”Are its claws so strong? Or maybe my Magic Power isn’t enough?” Gauss captured the scene at the moment of contact.

”But it can’t simply endure my Missile, and it needs some time to build power and lower down before long-distance jumps, while short-distance displacements require a shorter reaction time.”

Gauss noticed the Mantis People’s secondary limb trembling, silently analyzing in his heart.

After being repelled several meters, the Mantis People also set its gaze remotely on Gauss.

However, at this moment, besides the Priest coming to help Liam, the others who had formed a line finally provided support.

Although the Mantis People’s assault speed was too fast, so at the first moment, apart from Gauss, no one else managed to offer assistance to Liam, at this point, they had to hold it down!

They couldn’t allow it to keep striking the squad singularly.

Almost no one in the team had the power to confront it one-on-one.

”Cold Touch!”

A blue phantom bone hand flew out, attempting to grab the secondary limb of the Mantis People, injecting the energy of necrotic erosion into its body.

”Bam!”

The bone hand was too slow.

It hadn’t even come close before the Mantis People kicked back a few steps, evading it.

As long as it focused its attention, with its well-developed leg muscles, it could dodge the attacks from most Bottom Adventurers.

Meanwhile, its gaze remained firmly locked on Gauss.

It seemed convinced that only he posed a threat to it in this team.
