Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 125: Chapter 123: Two Cakes

At the end of July, Ottery St Catchpole welcomed a special guest.

Hagrid had been discharged from the hospital. With the help of Newt and the Healers, he remembered everything that had happened before. At the same time, he also learned about the events in the Forbidden Forest at the end of the term from other professors.

Hagrid could hardly believe it. Kael had encountered life-threatening dangers twice a month ago, both related to him.

”It’s all... my fault... this... fool!”

In the Kael family living room, Hagrid covered his face with his hands, sobbing: ”I’m the reason you almost died in the Forbidden Forest, and it’s also because of me that you encountered a Werewolf at St Mungo’s. I should be expelled from Hogwarts and live as a Muggle forever!”

Hagrid was trembling all over, overwhelmed with sorrow and regret. This nearly four-meter-tall giant was crying like a child whose lollipop had been snatched away, large tears soaking into his beard.

”Hagrid, calm down.” Kael handed him a tablecloth and comforted him: ”Wipe your face, don’t forget you were a victim in Oren’s matter. Also, I compared it, and the content on that note wasn’t written by you, was it?”

Kael glanced somewhat sympathetically at his own sofa.

Supporting Hagrid was already a heavy task for it, and with Hagrid shaking like this... Kael could distinctly hear the creaking sound coming from the sofa, as if it might give out at any moment.

”But you almost lost your life!” Hagrid said, sniffling: ”I told Oren about Fluffy, which gave him the chance to trick you there.”

”He would’ve found a way.” Kael said: ”Don’t forget, he was my Defense Against Dark Arts professor; he would have found a reason to take me to the Forbidden Forest.”

”But you would have been on guard against other excuses!” Hagrid’s shoulders were still shaking, ”And at St Mungo’s, you only encountered the Werewolf because you came to see me.”

”That was an accident.” Kael shook his head and said: ”And luckily I ran into it; otherwise, how many innocent patients do you think would have died... or turned into Werewolves that day.

We successfully averted a major crisis, Hagrid.

Also, I should be thanking you, because thanks to the Werewolf incident, I’m likely going to be awarded the Merlin Order Medal soon. Professor Cecily promised she’d be my nominator.”

”Galloping Gorgons, the Merlin Knight Order...” Hagrid finally raised his head, looking at Kael in shock: ”You might be the youngest recipient of the medal.”

”Who knows.” Kael shrugged, ”Have a candy, it might cheer you up a bit.”

”Thank you, Kael.” Hagrid accepted the toffee Kael handed over and wiped his nose with the back of his hand, saying: ”That reminded me, I brought you a gift too.”

Kael looked a bit nervous, frowning: ”It’s not the new flavor of Weasel Sandwich, is it?”

Hagrid finally managed to chuckle, ”If you like that, I can make it for you next time, but not today.”

He took out a large box from behind him, saying: ”I just found out your birthday is tomorrow too.

Happy birthday in advance, Kael, this is a cake I made with my own hands.”

Kael opened the box to find a large chocolate cake covered in icing sugar, with ”Happy Birthday Harry?” written on top in green icing.

Hagrid had written the wrong name, but it seemed that’s what he meant.

But that wasn’t the point.

Kael squinted, his face full of confusion and bewilderment: ”Is this... for me?”

When did his name change, do Chris and Diana know about this?

”Of course, you don’t like it... Sorry, I mixed them up.”

Hagrid looked at the words on the cake and slapped his forehead with enough force to knock over a cow, then took out another box from another inner pocket of his coat.

”This one’s for you.”

The same icing chocolate cake, the same spelling mistake, but the icing was yellow this time and had Kael’s name on it.

”You and little Harry share a birthday, I mixed up the two cakes.”

”Thank you, Hagrid, I like it very much.”

Kael immediately cut a small piece of cake and put it in his mouth, and then... nothing else happened.

A rich sweetness burst from his mouth directly to his brain, the feeling as if he had taken a sip of concentrated syrup.

Indeed, he should never eat anything Hagrid gave!

Kael gritted his teeth and swallowed that small piece of cake with difficulty.

”How does it taste?”

”Fantastic.” Kael gave a thumbs up and said: ”I’ve never had such a sweet cake.”

”I’m glad you like it.” Hagrid said happily: ”Want to have more? There’s plenty left.”

”No, no, it’s not the right time now.” Kael shook his head repeatedly: ”I plan to share it with my friends tomorrow.

Such a delicious cake would be a pity for Fred and George to miss, and Cedric will be back soon, I plan to save a piece for him too.”

”Yes, good things should be shared with friends.” Hagrid laughed: ”If you all like it, feel free to come to me anytime after school starts.”

”Ahem... Absolutely, absolutely.” Kael felt his throat tighten, quickly changing the subject: ”By the way, you’ve prepared a cake, is it to deliver to Potter?”

”That’s right, Dumbledore agreed for me to take him to Diagon Alley, but...” Hagrid frowned and said: ”I was supposed to go tomorrow, but for some reason, the acceptance letter has never reached him. So Dumbledore asked me to go ahead and check to avoid any accidents.”

Kael raised an eyebrow and said: ”That does sound a bit odd.”

”Yes, so I’ll be heading to Surrey, London this afternoon to deliver the letter to him personally.” Hagrid continued: ”You know, Harry can’t miss the start at Hogwarts.”

”No need to worry, it might just be an owl problem.” Kael looked out the window, thought for a moment, and said: ”Some Muggles don’t like birds, maybe they chased away the owl trying to deliver the letter.

How about this, give me the letter, I’ll let Ladon help send it over, and you just need to take him to Diagon Alley then.”

”Wouldn’t that be too much trouble?”

Hagrid hesitated, he still wanted to hand the letter to Harry personally.

”It’s no trouble at all.” Kael waved his hand and said: ”Owls delivering acceptance letters is a Hogwarts tradition, it’s very meaningful, and every young wizard only gets to experience it once, if missed, there won’t be a second chance.”

After hearing Kael’s words, Hagrid suddenly froze for a moment.

Yes... how did he forget about this?

”Alright then.” Hagrid hesitated for a moment before taking out a pale yellow envelope and handing it to Kael. ”Thank you for your trouble.”

”It’s no big deal.” Kael accepted the envelope.

Afterwards, Hagrid stayed for a while before preparing to leave.

Before he left, Kael suddenly asked: ”By the way, Hagrid, how was that toffee just now?”

”Oh, I haven’t eaten it yet.” Hagrid replied with a smile: ”I plan to give it to Harry to try, he must not have tasted sweets from the Magic Realm yet.”

”......”

Fine then.

After Hagrid left, Kael called for Ladon and entrusted it with the acceptance letter, taking care to remove the toffee sneakily wedged beside the wax seal.

”Be careful, that family isn’t very friendly, they might even have weapons.”
