After Jin Xuechu finished his first sentence, he added another as an afterthought. “Yan Qingsi, I’m looking forward to the day that you become my girlfriend.”

Jin Xuechu was in love with Yan Qingsi. This woman was special. He was not an old fashioned, conservative person. Having been in the entertainment industry for so many years, he could tell that Yan Qingsi was also not the person she claimed to be. Instead, people who were like this had hearts that were purer than anyone else’s.

Jin Xuechu had suffered Yue Tingfeng’s plots multiple times but never made a decision to chase Yan Qingsi. The past few times always felt like more of a joke, but this time Jin Xuechu was serious. Using Yue Tingfeng’s latest plot as an excuse, he had finally made up his mind.

He was going to pursue Yan Qingsi.

Jin Xuechu was the God of Song. His voice was beautiful, magnetic, and deep. He was very serious about this.

Yan Qingsi laughed. “Girlfriend? Are you sure it’s not friends with benefits?”

Jin Xuechu could not help himself. “Yan Qingsi… Why must you—”

Yan Qingsi finished his sentence for him. “Why must you speak so unscrupulously? But… in this world, how can there be such a perfect relationship?”

“I like you, honestly. My desire to pursue you is sincere even though… I also want to use it as an opportunity to take my revenge on that young master. But that’s just an excuse to give myself the bravery to say this. You don’t know how much courage I had to muster to say what I just did!” Jin Xuechu said earnestly.

Yan Qingsi honestly could not see why Jin Xuechu would like her. Truthfully, did a woman like her—a complete villain—even deserve love?

“We can be friends. This is the most honest and sincere feelings I can give to you. However, to be your girlfriend? I’m afraid I can’t do that.”

Love was the one thing she could not give anyone. She did not even love herself. How could she love someone else?

Jin Xuechu smiled. “It’s good that you can still speak honestly with me. The fact that you’d be able to be friends with me means that at the very least you don’t hate me. Whether or not you accept my feelings is your business. Just as whether or not I pursue you is mine. At the end of the day, whether or not you would give me your love is also your business. If I have done everything that I could, and you are entirely unmoved, then I’d say that it isn’t a problem with you, it’s a problem with me. I didn’t do well enough, and that’s why you didn’t fall in love with me.”

Yan Qingsi sat there for a long while, unmoving. Jin Xuechu’s words shook her to her core.

This was not the first time someone had confessed their feelings to her but this would be the first time anyone had done so in the way that Jin Xuechu did. ‘I pursue you because I love you, whether or not you accept it has nothing to do with me.’ This kind of reckless passion was most enviable.

Yan Qingsi feared she would never find someone like Jin Xuechu, who was able to allow their warm and impassioned heart to embrace their feelings so irrevocably.

“What are you dreaming about?” Miss Mai gave Yan Qingsi a push. She had approached Yan Qingsi and noticed her staring at blank space, daydreaming.

“Jin Xuechu just called me to tell me he wanted to court me.”

“Oh. Hasn’t he always liked you that way?”

Yan Qingsi looked up at Miss Mai. “Previously it was always just jokingly. This time, he’s serious. Do you think he truly understands me if he could love me? Does he know what kind of person I am?”

“Do you not realize how good you are at seducing people? Yet, you’re asking me?” In the past, Miss Mai would definitely see this as a good thing, but now, with Young Master Yue prowling in the background, how dare Xue Jinchu?

“Does he know that the rumors flying about online about you and him being just a promotional gimmick, is the work of Young Master Yue?”

Yan Qingsi sighed. “It’s because Xue Jinchu knows that he wants to chase me. Yue Tingfeng gave him that determination.”
