I'm Pretending to Cultivate in Kindergarten

Chapter 94: Chapter 94: Who Is His Girlfriend

Starting today, Jiang Qian would occasionally pop up with some strange questions.

The frequency wasn’t as high as a certain ”fox,” but the Second Miss would suddenly ask about Lin Zhengran’s living habits. For example, when the teacher asked deskmates to discuss problems, Jiang Qian would throw out her questions. This way, Lin Zhengran wouldn’t get annoyed answering them.

”Class rep, how many years have you been learning the piano?” Holding a math book, Jiang Qian looked completely serious.

Lin Zhengran replied casually, ”I haven’t really studied it professionally. I just occasionally watched others play the piano before and picked it up for a while. After all, I don’t have a piano to practice on at home.”

Jiang Qian’s expression turned gloomy. If it were anyone else saying this, she might not believe it, but Lin Zhengran’s casual response felt incredibly genuine to her, especially since she had already witnessed his skills.

A moment later, that gloominess transformed into shyness. Lin Zhengran asked, ”What’s wrong?”

She blushed and turned her head away. ”Nothing, just asking.”

She increasingly marveled at what kind of powerful genius the boy sitting next to her was—so powerful that for several days in a row, her curiosity about Lin Zhengran hadn’t diminished, but instead had grown even stronger. Her heart beat faster.

All these scenes of shyness were seen by Fang Meng from the back of the classroom. She stared blankly at Jiang Qian. ”Qianqian...”

Fang Meng suddenly pressed her lips together, her eyes resolute. She knew that if this continued, something bad would happen sooner or later! As her assistant, and more importantly as Jiang Qian’s childhood friend and bestie, she felt she had to do something! She had to help her! So she clenched her fists, determined to find this man’s flaws!

Right at that moment, the bell rang for the end of class. A pure-looking girl with a ponytail walked past the door of Class One’s classroom. That was, naturally, Xiao Heqing.

As Xiao Heqing walked past Class One, she peered through the back door to check on Lin Zhengran sitting in the classroom. Seeing that his deskmate was Jiang Qian and that the two were still talking, she bit her lip in jealousy. She thought to herself, ”How did they end up as deskmates? Why are they getting closer and closer?”

She slowly walked past, heading toward the girls’ restroom. This entire scene was fully witnessed by Fang Meng.

Because Lin Zhengran had shown off his brilliance during the military training exercises and the freshman gala, he had attracted countless fangirls and upperclasswomen who came to strike up conversations with him. At first, Fang Meng didn’t pay much attention, because her own Qianqian also had many boys hitting on her at the start of every school term, but the aloof Qianqian wouldn’t speak to anyone she wasn’t interested in.

But this pretty girl with the ponytail... she had once seen Lin Zhengran talking to her for quite a long time. She knew very well that Lin Zhengran, just like Qianqian, rarely paid attention to the opposite sex. Since he was willing to talk to this girl, it must mean their relationship was very special.

Since a direct investigation had yielded no results, she might as well start with her.

Fang Meng took another look at the blushing Qianqian. As soon as the bell had rung to dismiss the class, she walked straight out of Class One’s classroom and headed to the entrance of the girls’ restroom, waiting for the other girl.

After using the restroom and pulling up her pants, He Qing unexpectedly heard girls chatting in the next stall.

”By the way, did you watch that same-sex drama from last week? It’s been super popular lately.”

”What same-sex drama?”

”You know, the ’butterfly knotting’ kind of drama. Isn’t it really popular recently? And I heard there are quite a few girls like that in our school, too.”

”Really? Who with who?”

”I don’t know, I just heard about it. Let me tell you about the details of a novel I read recently. The female lead starts out just making friends... and then...”

At first, Xiao Heqing was a bit confused, not knowing what ”wings knotting” meant. It wasn’t until she heard the detailed description that she suddenly blushed and felt awkward. She thought, ”Girls and girls... are there really things like this in the world? That... is just too outrageous. It doesn’t feel like something normal people would do.”

She covered her ears, not wanting to listen anymore, and walked out to wash her hands. But as soon as she stepped out of the restroom, she saw a pretty girl with a side ponytail staring at her.

Xiao Heqing lowered her head and tried to walk past. Although her fear of strangers had improved a lot since childhood thanks to Lin Zhengran’s help, she still got nervous when a stranger stared at her like this. In fact, if the person tried to offend her, she even had the urge to throw them over her shoulder.

Who knew that Fang Meng would walk straight up to her instead. ”Hi there. My name is Fang Meng. I’m a student in Class One. Could we get to know each other?”

Xiao Heqing looked up in a panic. ”Get... get to know me?”

Fang Meng stared at her earnestly, observing her closely. ”Just to make friends with you and have a chat.”

”Make friends... have a chat?”

Xiao Heqing suddenly recalled what she had just heard in the restroom and hurriedly waved her hands, blushing. She thought to herself, ”Could this person be into that so-called ’knotting’?”

”No, no, no! Let’s forget about making friends. I have things to do, so I’ll be leaving now. I’m sorry, I already have a boyfriend!” she blurted out, and with that, she tried to flee.

Fang Meng thought, ”Why does this girl look so guarded? And what did she mean by having a boyfriend?” She turned her head and happened to hear those two girls still discussing the ”wings knotting” thing.

Fang Meng’s face also turned red. She quickly darted forward and grabbed Xiao Heqing’s arm, explaining simply and directly, ”Wait! I don’t mean it like that! I just want to ask you about Lin Zhengran! There’s nothing wrong with my sexual orientation!”

At that moment, Xiao Heqing thought the other girl was going to do something violent to her. Her vigilant nerves made her subconsciously grab the other’s wrist. If the person intended to harm her, she might not be able to hold back from throwing her to the ground.

However, when she grabbed the wrist, both Xiao Heqing and Fang Meng were shocked.

”Has this girl practiced martial arts?” Xiao Heqing wondered. Her coach had once said that you could tell if a girl had practiced martial arts just by grabbing her arm. Though her arm appeared slender, once gripped, one could feel a strength much greater than that of an average girl.

Fang Meng also looked at the way the other girl was holding her wrist, thinking, ”Isn’t this the grip for a shoulder throw? If I make one wrong move, she’ll definitely toss me to the ground.”

Both of them stared at each other warily before slowly letting go.

Only then did Xiao Heqing suddenly jolt, snapping back to reality. ”What did you just say? Lin Zhengran?”

Fang Meng also jolted. ”Wait, you said you have a boyfriend? Who is it? Is it Lin Zhengran?!”

Xiao Heqing nodded honestly. ”Yeah, my boyfriend is Lin Zhengran.”

”Ah?” Fang Meng was stunned. ”Lin Zhengran has a girlfriend?”

She thought, ”Wait... then wouldn’t Qianqian become the other woman destroying someone else’s relationship? No! With Qianqian’s personality, if she knew he had a girlfriend, she definitely wouldn’t be blushing over him. After all, I just don’t want to see Qianqian get trapped by her simple curiosity.”

Fang Meng was suddenly overjoyed. ”Thank you! Goodbye!”

Xiao Heqing let out an uncomprehending ”Ah,” but then quickly understood something. She thought, ”She must be another girl who likes Lin Zhengran... After all, she just said there was nothing wrong with her sexual orientation, and she’s from Class One, the same class as him.”

Jealous, Xiao Heqing clasped her hands together in front of her. ”Now that he’s in high school, there are so many more pretty girls who like him... I’m so unhappy...”

Xiao Heqing slowly walked back to her class. What she didn’t see, however, was that Jiang Xueli had just walked out of the classroom at the exact same time, and she happened to overhear Xiao Heqing’s words, freezing in place.

”What did He Qing just say? ...Zhengran is her boyfriend... Ah?!”
