Raising Yanderes to save the world

/You are right. The world did survive. But the payment it asked for in return...are you not curious to know what it is?/

Kael was curious, but at the same time, he also felt like he was falling into a trap by admitting this fact.

Nonetheless, the corruption seemed to know what he was not telling it, and it let out a sigh.

/My dear, you should keep watching. The suffering of the stupid goddess who knew nothing is just about to begin. What an eager and pure little thing. She tried whatever she could in order to appease humans and help them out. But humans are far too easy to influence./

The corruption whispered, and Kael turned his attention toward the goddess, who was struggling to breathe. But she soon looked determined, and her body began to change.

She slowly suppressed her powers until her body turned completely human, and then she approached the humans for the first time.

But it was neither her suppressed powers nor her intentions that caught Kael’s eyes, but rather, the face she had chosen to take. He could not help but feel as if someone was playing a trick on him.

”Is this some kind of joke?”

Kael asked in a tense voice when he looked at the goddess beside him. But the female only let out a scoff at his words before she replied.

/Of course not! Does it look like I am joking to you? That face is what the foolish goddess chose to take. What? Does that look familiar to you?/

The corruption asked, and Kael did not dignify her with a response. Instead, he kept looking at the goddess who had taken Seraphina’s face.

Or rather, her face looked like Seraphina’s, but there were some differences that one could only notice if they had stared at both faces for a long time. Like the length of their eyelashes. The goddess had a fuller but smaller lash volume compared to Seraphina, and the shades of their eyes were two tones apart.

Moreover, maybe it was just Kael’s delusion, but he swore that the goddess looked far too malnourished compared to Seraphina.

Anyway, Kael tried to disassociate the goddess from Seraphina as soon as he realized who the goddess looked like. The further he kept her from his thoughts, the better he would be able to handle the pressure of seeing her like this.

So Kael took a deep breath and forced himself to keep watching. But the presence of the corruption at his side was too much for even him to ignore.

/Shall we continue further? The real tension has yet to begin./

The corruption told him before the world around them began to rapidly change and shift into something new. Even the goddess, who finally looked to be accepted by the humans, started to relax.

When the scene stopped shifting, Kael watched the goddess finally settling down in the temple and talking with her fellow humans.

”We have not had much rain this year. At this rate, the crops might all die-”

”Have you tried praying to the goddess? Maybe if you do, she would hear your plea and give you what you want?”

The goddess whispered from inside the temple, and the non-believer looked at her with an annoyed expression.

”Stop trying to gaslight us into following your goddess or whatever.”

The goddess felt her temper flaring for the first time. Because she had taken a human form, she had sealed her power. And as a result, she had gained human emotions as well.

Things like jealousy and envy were some of the new things she learned, and she did not like them. But at the same time, she could not control them either.

She knew in her mind that she needed to give humans rain, even if they never prayed to her. They deserved this much, at least.

But she could not bring herself to agree and give it to them.

As a result, a drought followed, causing people to seek her out in desperation. And the region that worshipped her was rewarded with rain.

Soon, the news spread, and even those who had been openly against her had no choice but to bow their heads in her presence.

And that was how the first religion of this world came to be.

/So, what do you think of the goddess so far? Does Aria Solwyn live up to your expectations?/

The corruption asked in an amused voice. It seemed to know what was going to happen next. But Kael could also see the future just as clearly. He could tell what had changed such a fair goddess into a ball of anger.

”I think the goddess was naive. Her goodwill was built over people’s fear and anger toward her. No wonder she drew resentment from everyone.”

/But she did this because she wanted to survive. And as the overseer of this world, she had the authority to do this. Do you still think she’s wrong? Don’t think by human standards, but by a god’s. In their eyes, you are all food./

Kael had a hard time swallowing this truth.

He wanted to tell the corruption that they were not food, but intelligent creatures. But the corruption continued to speak before he could even open his mouth.

/Humans kill other animals for food. Among those, the ones raised in captivity are particularly preferred. What makes the goddess different? She is cultivating humans for the same purpose you cultivate cattle./

The corruption reminded Kael, and he instantly wanted to argue that this was not the same. But he had a feeling the corruption was not going to change its mind.

The scene in front of him continued, and the goddess became more and more certain in her role. And finally, she decided to give out her first decree, declaring herself as the one and only supreme goddess of this world.

And humans were designed to follow their leader. Following the masses was integrated into their being, and they accepted the goddess...

Until one of them was visited by another god in their dreams.
