Reborn As Noble

Knock knock.

Javier, who had just finished his work for the day, looked up while Varrick and the others were tidying up the remaining documents, organizing them into neat stacks for tomorrow’s review.

”Hmm?” Javier glanced up, his hand resting on the completed paperwork. ”Who is it?”

A voice came from outside the door. ”Your Highness. I’m a guard from the Armand estate’s main gate. I have something to report.”

”Oh... come in.” Javier said casually, putting down the paperwork. He remained standing, his hands clasped casually behind his back.

Lorcan stood up, his hand resting on the hilt of his magic sword.

Varrick’s hand slipped into his butler coat, while Mahira kept one hand gracefully behind her maid dress, poised and ready.

The grand door opened, and the guard stepped inside. He stood straight, tapped one foot crisply on the floor, placed his fist over his left chest, and bowed his head.

”Your Highness.”

Javier nodded toward Varrick and the others, signaling them to stand at ease.

”Yes? What is it, Pacjo?”

The guard’s eyes widened, astonished that a person of such high rank as the prince could remember his name, especially for someone like him, who had only recently started working as an Armand guard.

”Y... Your Highness!” Pacjo bowed lower. ”I have something to report.”

”Go ahead.” Javier smiled, his hands still clasped behind his back.

”Your Highness... your Pekko, Buddy, has been leaving the estate without you. Three times today, he has returned carrying large bundles of fresh hay in his beak. We thought it best to inform you.”

”Hmm? Buddy is doing what?”

The guard was about to explain further, but he noticed Javier raise his palm gently.

”Ah, don’t worry. I was just wondering. Thank you for your report. You may go now,” Javier said with a faint smile.

”Yes, Your Highness! If you’ll excuse me.” Pacjo bowed, took three respectful steps backward, turned, and exited the room, closing the door softly behind him.

After the guard left, Javier looked at everyone in the room.

”Thank you all for your great work today. Please finish organizing the remaining documents, then you are all dismissed to rest.” He glanced at the seemingly empty chair, a knowing smile touching his lips. ”And thank you for standing guard and assisting today. I expect the same diligence tomorrow.”

He gave a slight, respectful nod toward the unseen presence.

Javier rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

I wonder what Buddy’s up to?

What is he doing with all that hay?

Don’t tell me he’s making himself a new nest or something?

Weird.

Javier chuckled softly and walked over to the long couch. He carefully lifted both Mimi and Delya, one in each arm, settling their heads comfortably on his shoulders.

Uwah! They’re both heavy. But... ehehee... their butts are soft. Mmhmm~

Javier slowly walked toward the grand door.

Lorcan assisted him by opening the grand door.

”Thank you, Lorcan.” Javier said and headed out, walking slowly down the hallway while carrying both Mimi and Delya, who were still fast asleep.

Buddy... and hay...

I should check on my precious Pekko. I hope he’s not sulking. Or maybe it’s because of the grilled fish we had on the warship?

Or is he acting weird after riding on the transport drone?

Oh shit... now I’m starting to worry if something bad happened to Buddy.

No way, right? I don’t want any other Pekko. Buddy’s been with me since I was... err... eleven, I guess...

Javier quickened his pace, his heart tightening with concern.

No... no... noo...

The Pekko pen is already perfect, super huge and exclusive for Buddy, Pikko, Peanut, Jito, Karu, and Blitz. It’s right next to my personal workshop so Buddy never feels lonely when I’m crafting.

That means Buddy isn’t using the hay for a nest. I designed the pen to be ideal for all of them.

The water is changed daily, and they’re fed three huge portions a day, enough to feed fifty people, especially since Buddy’s such a glutton.

Do Pekkos eat hay for digestion? Like a stomach-soothing supplement for a creature his size?

Crap, crap, crap!

He kept walking toward his room while carrying both Mimi and Delya.

I need to put them in bed and head straight to the Pekko pen.

I already installed a barrier to ensure no danger comes to Buddy, even though Pekkos are the strongest monster birds with magic and barrier skills of their own.

I made sure the Pekko feed is specially prepared by my machines, the same formula used to feed all the Pekkos across Armand.

And since Buddy and my girls’ Pekkos are special, I ensure their diet is rich with meat, fruits, and premium Pekko food. I balance everything to keep them in peak condition and health.

”L... Liana!!!” Javier shouted, running toward his room and pushing the door open.

And witnessed...

Felicia lying on the bed while Liana held her leg and Gloria held her hand up.

”Oho~?” Javier narrowed his eyes, taking in the... beautiful sight.

”Y... Young Master... this isn’t what you think!” Gloria stammered.

”Y... yes, Young Master! We just... we just...” Liana panicked, her cheeks flushed.

”Oho~?” Javier repeated, a slow, intrigued smile spreading across his face. His gaze traveled over the scene. ”Is that so?”

Felicia’s eyes shimmered with relief. ”Husband!!!”

”Ah... I think I’m going to put them on the couch... and give you three some space~” Javier wiggled his eyebrows with a cheeky smile.

Liana and Gloria immediately released Felicia the moment Javier gently laid Mimi and Delya down on the long couch inside the bedroom.

”Husband!!” Felicia rushed over and hugged him tightly.

Javier returned the hug and caressed Felicia’s head. ”Yosh yosh... It’s okay... it’s okay~”

While Liana fidgeted nervously and Gloria whistled innocently, pretending to look elsewhere.

”I didn’t know... you two were interested in...” Javier paused, wiggling his eyebrows again.

”N... No!!! We were just teasing Felicia!” Liana and Gloria protested in unison, their faces flushed with embarrassment.

”Ah... I don’t mind~ Just don’t forget... you two are still mine~”

”Young master!!!!” Liana and Gloria rushed over, each grabbing one of Javier’s arms while puffing their cheeks and glaring at him.

”Jeez! I was just joking! Don’t be so mad.”
