Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 416: Chapter 304: The Beginning of a Heroic Undertaking?

Normally, as the ultimate technique of a Knight of God, it naturally wouldn’t be so pathetic. Although the Divine General’s agility was hindered by its massive body, its dramatically increased stats completely compensated for this weakness. It could be said that ordinary attacks wouldn’t even penetrate its defenses.

Not to mention, its agility wasn’t actually low; it was just hampered by its massive body.

But that was only against ordinary attacks!

The Ogres’ Magic Cannons, however, originated from an Authority. Furthermore, as creations of a Demon God, although they weren’t entirely suffused with Dimensional Magic Power like a Dimension Apostle, the nature of their Magic Power was still somewhat similar and highly corrosive. This could hardly be considered an ordinary attack.

This is what led to the Blood Flame Knight, who had originally been dominating the Ogres, becoming a living target. After using [Blood Incarnation] to manifest the Divine General, it was instead hindered by the limited space of the Miracle Battlefield!

It was blasted apart in just a few hits. The aftershocks from the Magic Cannons even struck the Flesh Nest, leading to its outright defeat!

This caused Isaac, who had been watching the spectacle from high above while silently observing the framework of the Miracle Ceremony, to sigh. He summoned his Demon Claw, preparing to intervene personally.

Yes, he would act himself.

The two sides in this Miracle Ceremony were not the Blood Flame Knight and the Ogres, but rather Isaac and the out-of-control Underground Palace!

What happened before was simply a test of the new Flesh Nest’s power. And the results were quite satisfactory. Though it had many flaws, there was fortunately plenty of room for improvement.

Most importantly, Isaac had confirmed one thing: Magic could indeed be combined with Divine Power!

This offered another choice for the new Wizard Path!

Isaac had this idea a long time ago. After all, he had received a great deal of ”favor” from Deities throughout his journey. Naturally, this created a certain path dependency when he considered creating a new Wizard Path.

But Outer Gods are not to be trifled with. The only reason he had come this far so smoothly was because he had a cheat.

Isaac was quite self-aware about this.

So, the idea was fleeting, and Isaac quickly abandoned it. However, it resurfaced after the emergence of the Virtual Deity. And now, this experiment had helped him break through some of the key difficulties.

’Perhaps a Wizard Path based on Deities will come into being even before the path of the Bloodline Mages...’

But that was just a side-note. Isaac had his own pace for his research projects. The new Wizard Path was certainly important, but it wasn’t the time to study it, even though it was originally on his research agenda for the Endless Tower.

But who could have known that the humans in this Wilderness Dungeon were incapable of embarking on the Path of the Extraordinary?

This was even more goddamn hopeless than the Muggles in the Real World!

Therefore, the focus of Isaac’s trip remained on the Miracle Ceremony. Letting the Blood Flame Knight and the Ogres fight to the death was a way to let him concentrate on observing the Miracle Ceremony’s framework, collect data, and prepare for optimizations.

He didn’t fully understand it all yet, but Isaac hadn’t expected to grasp everything on his first try, so he wasn’t too concerned about this temporary setback. After the Blood Flame Knight was blasted to pieces by the Ogres, a thought crossed his mind. A hideous Demon Claw emerged from behind his head, and a Demon Eye tore open in its palm!

An uncanny, magical radiance instantly showered the wilderness below!

In a mere instant, all Ogres below Tier Three dissolved into masses of fleshy tendrils, writhing and wailing on the ground as they tore into one another!

The ground was gradually stained crimson!

Only the Ogres of Tier Three and above, protected by the Authority granted to them by the Demon God, were spared. But even they were only barely holding on.

After all, Isaac possessed Authority as well. This Flesh Mutation not only incorporated the Divine Power of the Master of Blood—just like the Flesh Nest, giving it the power to counter other Authorities—but it also integrated the [Analysis] Authority, greatly enhancing its specific effectiveness against them.

This bizarre, uncanny radiance caused the Ogres unbearable suffering. They could barely survive, let alone launch a counterattack; even just holding on was extremely difficult.

Sure enough, after a little while, under the influence of [Analysis], the uncanny magic of Flesh Mutation broke through the defenses of [Magic Enhancement]. It mutated the remaining High-level Ogres into piles of sludge sprouting strange limbs and organs!

”Tsk.”

Despite the easy victory, Isaac pursed his lips in dissatisfaction. The reason was simple: this method was too damn sinister!

’One look and you can tell this isn’t the work of a good guy!’

’Looks like my aesthetic needs a major correction. I guess the Evil Eye will never see the day it becomes one of my Servant Demons. From now on, only True Gods can be my Servant Demons!’

Isaac, focused solely on changing his aesthetic, clearly didn’t realize how heretical his own thoughts were. His attention had already been captured by the changes in the Miracle Ceremony.

Although the Ogres on the battlefield had lost their lives, their current forms were a fate worse than death. The outcome of the battle had long been decided, so the Miracle Ceremony: Sealing God changed accordingly.

A strange, massive net appeared, blanketing the Void. Streams of Magic Power imbued with the Concept of [Miracle] surged within it, flowing along the net toward two Golden Wheels at its very center. As the [Miracle] Magic Power poured in, the Magic Runes on the Golden Wheels gradually distorted and faded, becoming even more divine and mysterious!

At the same time, a searing, pale-gold flame ignited within the Golden Wheels, exuding a divine and wondrous aura.

Watching this scene, Isaac was lost in thought. Gradually, he gained new insight into how to walk this great path.

Or rather, he had some new ideas on how to pluck the fruit of his labor!

Yes, to pluck the fruit.

Pioneering a new path and perfecting the Wizard System was indeed a way to achieve ultimate attainment. But a problem remained: how could he secure his own interests?

This was a very practical problem, but it didn’t diminish the greatness of the path itself.

After all, even in Isaac’s past life, there was a saying that one should judge a person by their deeds, not their intentions.

And now, Isaac had some ideas about it. The key, he suspected, lay with the ceremony...

Simply proposing a Concept and demonstrating certain technical results would certainly drive the development of the Path of Wizardry, but it wouldn’t bring him much personal benefit. In the end, while a Heroic deed would be accomplished, it might not be what made him a Great Wizard!

The reason was simple: the undertaking was too massive for Isaac to complete on his own!

Perfecting the Path of Wizardry would inevitably require the combined efforts of most Wizards. Once it was accomplished, the credit would naturally be shared.

Of course, Isaac believed there had to be a solution. For instance, the Great Wizard behind the Truth Association had become a Great Wizard through the path of the [Arcanist].

However, the creation of the Arcanist path wasn’t the work of a single Wizard. It took the lifeblood of several generations of Wizards. Yet in the end, only one person, or perhaps a few, used it to become a Great Wizard. That fact spoke volumes.

But Isaac didn’t possess such methods, so he had no choice but to research it on his own.

The ceremony was his answer!

At least, it was the answer for now.
