Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 280: Chapter 214: Liu Li vs. High-level Earth Elemental Spirit

The shadowy Phase Space faded, and the figures of Isaac and Liu Li quietly appeared. The crimson Evil Eye in Harmon’s palm pulsed with an eerie, bloody light, which poured into the valley along with the constantly regenerating Dimension Apostles.

Normally, even the dull-witted Earth Elemental Spirits would have grown wary in the face of such strange Magic Power.

But unfortunately, they were already exhausted from the Dimension Apostles’ constant harassment. Already agitated from being defeated and driven from their home, they failed to notice the eerie, bloody light.

Of course, that was only for the Ordinary Earth Elemental Spirits. The six High-level Earth Elemental Spirits were a bit more perceptive. After a moment, even they, as slow-witted as they were, sensed that something was amiss!

Unfortunately...

It was too late!

Although the Flesh Mutation had yet to completely dismember them, most of the Earth Elemental Spirits’ defenses had already crumbled to dust!

Not only did they lose their defensive capabilities, but those very defenses had turned against them!

The High-level Earth Elemental Spirits were faring better. They were powerful, and their resistance to the Flesh Mutation was the strongest. So far, the thick Stone Armor on their bodies had only loosened slightly.

But it was a different story for the Ordinary Earth Elemental Spirits!

Their defenses had been almost completely dismantled!

Even without their thick Stone Armor, the spirits’ defenses were still considerable. However, the Dimension Apostles’ attacks were nothing to scoff at. Their combat power might have been unimpressive, and they knew no Combat Techniques, but they were Dimension Apostles, after all. They surged with nearly infinite Dimensional Magic Power, each one a powerhouse Secret Mage. While they hadn’t learned any complex Secret Skills, they could still manage simple ones like Magic Beam.

Faced with the eerie and Profound Dimensional Magic Power, a single volley was enough to make even a Tier Two Earth Elemental Spirit perish on the spot.

But the ones in the most wretched state were the Tier One Earth Elemental Spirits who had luckily survived in the sub-plane. They were far too weak. Even though their nature as Elemental Spirits granted them relatively high Magic Resistance, the power gap between them and Isaac was simply too vast, and thus the effects on them were all the more severe.

Under the influence of the Flesh Mutation, they lost all combat capability!

Some were covered in small, serrated mouths that gnawed incessantly at their own bodies. Others had all four of their limbs split apart and undergo Activation. Still others sprouted eyes all over their bodies, recklessly blasting Magic Power in every direction...

In that moment, the entire valley was like the scene of a grotesque Evil God’s Divine Descent!

Eerie!

Grotesque!

Absurd!

”ROAR!!!”

Seeing this tragic sight, the largest of the Earth Elemental Spirits threw its head back and roared, its murky yellow eyes filled with rage. ’The last time my people suffered so horribly... wait, there was no last time. This is the worst it’s ever been!’

”Heh.” Outside the valley, Isaac heard the Earth Elemental Spirit’s roar and smiled faintly. He turned to Liu Li behind him. ”Want to go give it a try?”

Liu Li paused for a moment, then nodded and stepped forward. Violet-black Magic Power coiled around her, and in an instant, her simple white dress transformed into a full suit of Leather Armor.

Yes, Leather Armor, not plate mail.

This was gear that Isaac had procured for Liu Li in Nebula City. The reason it wasn’t plate armor was because she used Magic Power, and heavy armor would interfere with its flow.

That was why Combat Mages wore specially-made Magic Windbreakers; not only did they offer a degree of protection, but they also significantly amplified the power of their Magic.

Of course, Liu Li leaned more toward the Warrior side, so there was no need to get her a Combat Mage’s outfit. That would have been too extravagant; Leather Armor was perfectly suitable.

In addition to the Leather Armor, five Longswords hung at her waist. One was the Relics: All Things Severed, which she had obtained during the Divine Lamp Trial. The other four were Advanced Longswords that had been purchased with the armor, meant to be used in conjunction with her Authority, [Invisible Hand].

Normally, [Invisible Hand] was at its most powerful when used by itself. Its three traits—being invisible, imperceptible, and inaudible—pushed stealth to its absolute limit, making it incredibly effective in actual combat.

However, that was under normal circumstances.

But for Liu Li, things were different. Shortly after her creation, she had already demonstrated a masterful Four-Blade Style. Later, she studied Swordsmanship extensively under Smith. Now, her four Invisible Hands could each wield a Longsword while she held another in her own hand. This allowed her to attack with five distinct swordsmanship styles from five directions at once, making it impossible to defend against her.

Most crucially, when necessary, she could control the Longswords with her Magic Power, freeing up the Invisible Hands to launch a surprise attack.

Thus, the Five-Blade Style had now become Liu Li’s signature method of combat.

And indeed, the next moment, four Advanced Longswords unsheathed themselves from her waist and flew out, hovering above Liu Li’s head with their sharp edges exposed.

CRACK!

The next instant, stone fragments scattered from beneath Liu Li’s feet as she vanished. When she reappeared, she was already in the valley, standing before the tallest and largest of the High-level Earth Elemental Spirits.

”ROAR!”

The Earth Elemental Spirit roared. A large amount of rubble gathered from the void and solidified around its right fist, which it then brought smashing straight down!

”All Things Severed!”

A cold light flashed in Liu Li’s eyes. The Longsword at her waist flew from its sheath, unleashing a bone-chilling flash of light!

The High-level Earth Elemental Spirit’s right arm was instantly severed. Not only that, but the moment it was cut off, it crumbled into a pile of rubble!

After Liu Li advanced to Tier Three, the might of All Things Severed had grown with her. When it sliced off the High-level Earth Elemental Spirit’s arm, the limb’s connection to the spirit’s Elemental Magic was completely cut. Naturally, the severed arm turned back into a pile of rubble.

”ROAR!”

The High-level Earth Elemental Spirit roared, and a heavy, yellow wave of Magic Power pressed down on Liu Li!

Liu Li’s body sank under the pressure, and the ground beneath her feet cracked apart!

Authority: [Gravity]!

With Liu Li restricted by Gravity, the spirit gathered the ochre-colored Magic Power on its remaining left arm, forming it into a longsword that it slashed straight at her!

This was the Demon’s simple tactic: restrict its target’s movement, then strike them down!

Simple, but effective!

But...

Ferocious Magic Power gathered on the Advanced Longswords hovering in the air, transforming into four beams of light that shot down!

With four swift slashes—SWISH! SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!—the stone Longsword was instantly cut into four segments!

However, unlike the stone arm, it didn’t crumble into a pile of rubble. Instead, its momentum spent, the pieces circled in the air before flying back and reforming, good as new.

Of course, though the attack had been neutralized, the Gravity pressing down on Liu Li was not lifted. This was Gravity originating from an Authority, and unlike ordinary Gravity Magic, it wouldn’t dissipate just because its Magic Power was in disarray.

Power that comes from an Authority will not fade even with the death of its user.

However, it wasn’t a major problem.

After circling once, the four Advanced Longswords flew back and engaged the High-level Earth Elemental Spirit in a fierce tangle.

From his vantage point, Isaac watched Liu Li and the High-level Earth Elemental Spirit in the valley with great interest. Although he had seen Liu Li fight Smith many times, those were ultimately just sparring matches, a far cry from a true battle. As such, he was still very curious about Liu Li’s actual combat strength.
