Reborn One Week Before the Apocalypse

Chapter 256: Chapter 246: In Exchange

”I’ve lived on the seabed for ages. My body is too large, making it difficult to move. Even though my spiritual power allows me to observe every corner of the ocean floor, I’ve still lost out on so much fun. That’s also why I have no desire to use that Life Force pearl to live even longer.”

”If you have a treasure with a comparable agility attribute, I would be more than happy to trade with you.”

Da Jing had been at the bottom of the sea for far too long. His restless nature had no outlet due to his difficulty moving.

Even the regular trips to the surface to breathe had become an arduous process.

So, compared to the pearl with the Life Attribute, a treasure with an agility attribute was what Da Jing truly desired.

’A treasure with an agility attribute...’

It wasn’t an impossible request. Tang Mo racked her brain. ’I do have some treasures with the agility attribute in my Space, but they pale in comparison to the immense Life Force in that pearl.’

Tang Mo took out every single treasure related to the agility attribute from her Space.

There were the ones she had bought herself, as well as those she had collected from the Wildman Tribe’s warehouse.

She even took out all the agility attribute Crystal Cores from her Space, wrapping them in a large Spiritual Light Ring.

”Not enough. It’s far too little.”

Da Jing was no fool. Even if he didn’t want to use the Life Force pearl at the moment, he knew it was a great treasure. There was no way he would trade a watermelon for a sesame seed.

Tang Mo knew her offering was far from enough, but she was simply out of options...

’What else do I have in my Space?’

Tang Mo thought it over and over. Da Jing’s request was simple: he just wanted to be more agile.

If he wanted to frolic freely in the ocean, then aside from a large number of treasures with the agility attribute, Tang Mo did have another method.

”Da Jing, I truly don’t have enough agility attribute treasures to allow you to move freely and smoothly through the ocean. But while my treasures are insufficient, I have a method that could let you roam the sea to your heart’s content. I wonder, would you be willing to trade for that?”

The ocean was a vast, mysterious world; the only thing truly holding Da Jing back was his own massive body.

”Really?” Da Jing was skeptical.

If there was truly a way to achieve his freedom, he didn’t care what the method was.

”Alright. If your method really works, I’ll make the trade.”

”It’s a deal!”

Tang Mo wasn’t worried about Da Jing going back on his word. After all, with his power, if he truly wanted to kill her, there was no way she could escape this stretch of ocean.

Tang Mo used her spiritual power to transmit the entire method for spiritual power enhancement to Da Jing, including the patterns and runes that needed to be condensed.

”I know you have immense spiritual power. My method uses that spiritual power to strengthen the body.”

”Whales generally move using their tail fins. If you use this method to channel spiritual power into your tail fin, you’ll naturally be able to move much more smoothly.”

Tang Mo was only teaching him this method because Da Jing showed no hostility toward humans.

”It sounds plausible enough. I suppose I should give it a try.”

Looking over the method, Da Jing thought it seemed quite feasible.

”Move aside.”

Tang Mo knew Da Jing was about to test it out. She hurriedly propelled herself upward.

’I refuse to be accidentally swatted to death by a whale,’ she thought. ’That would be a truly pathetic way to go.’

Just as Tang Mo was rapidly ascending away from the danger zone, she felt a colossal surge from below, as fierce as an undersea volcano erupting.

Underwater creatures scattered in every direction. Then, in an instant, it was as if a great mountain was on the move.

Tang Mo glanced down but couldn’t see its full form, only a massive black shadow moving off to the side.

It moved with incredible speed. If not for its immense size, it would have vanished from Tang Mo’s sight almost instantly.

It seemed Da Jing was still being considerate of her. If he had truly moved upward, he would have knocked her aside no matter how fast she ascended.

”Fast! So fast! This is amazing!”

The massive body shot through the water again and again, savoring the taste of freedom. Its voice was filled with glee.

Not once since the apocalypse began and his body grew to its immense size had Da Jing felt such exhilaration in the water.

For the longest time, his immobility had made him feel like a mountain on the seabed.

Even hunting required nothing more than opening his mouth.

He had grown sick of that life long ago!

”So, are you satisfied with trading the Life Force pearl for this method?”

Tang Mo could tell Da Jing was satisfied—so satisfied, in fact, that he seemed to have completely forgotten about her, too busy to pay her any mind.

”Satisfied! I’m satisfied!”

Strictly speaking, most of the ocean’s creatures were beings of the Spirit Attribute.

Da Jing’s Spirit Attribute, in particular, was unbelievably immense.

’Now that this method for Spirit Attribute enhancement has been proven,’ he thought, ’it’s not just for my tail fin to gain freedom.’

’I can also strengthen my stomach to improve digestion. That way, I’ll never get an upset stomach from accidentally eating some random junk again.’

Da Jing’s mind raced with delight as he thought of several different applications for this spiritual power enhancement.

’This trade was so worth it,’ he mused. ’Trading that useless little pearl for something so practical.’

To Da Jing, the little pearl that had appeared in his territory shortly after the apocalypse began was utterly useless to him, aside from being sparkly.

”I’ll take these too.”

The glowing sphere in front of Tang Mo, containing the agility attribute treasures and Crystal Cores she had wrapped in spiritual power, instantly flew toward Da Jing.

”Alright, they’re all yours.”

Tang Mo sighed in resignation. Dealing with Da Jing was no different than humoring a child.

Massive waves surged toward Tang Mo, and she could feel Da Jing approaching.

Soon, an enormous mouth appeared beneath Tang Mo. At this close distance, it was no longer a pitch-black cavern but revealed the soft pink flesh within.

”Go on in and find it yourself.”

Da Jing sounded a bit embarrassed. The pearl was simply too small for him to handle, so he couldn’t find a proper place to keep it. Yet he knew what a precious treasure it was, given the energy it contained.

Left with no other choice, he had hidden it in his mouth. That way, it would always be with him and wouldn’t get lost.

However, since some time had passed and he hadn’t paid it much mind, Da Jing could only sense that the pearl with its immense energy was still somewhere in his mouth, but he had no idea of its exact location.

A grimace formed on Tang Mo’s face.

’Fine,’ she thought. ’Seems I can’t escape my fate of going inside again. At least this time it’s just his mouth. I should be grateful the big guy didn’t say he’d accidentally swallowed it and that it’s in his stomach.’
