Reborn One Week Before the Apocalypse

Chapter 85: Chapter 77: Life Force Upgrade

Now that she had money, Tang Mo started planning. S Base had the most abundant resources in the country, and there were many things she needed to prepare. She’d only been holding back because of her limited funds.

Now that she was rich, it was time to prepare properly. After all, she wasn’t going to stay here for long.

No matter how well-equipped the training camp was, it could never inspire one’s fighting spirit like the jungles of the wild.

As for the arena, she could place a bet now and then if she was desperate for cash, but if she won too often, everyone would soon find out about her Spiritual Ability.

She was only ranked one-hundredth in all of Huaxia. There were far too many powerhouses ahead of her.

As she organized her belongings, Tang Mo carefully considered what she was still missing and what she needed to replenish.

After stowing the large box of Crystal Cores, there wasn’t much empty room left in her Space.

She needed to get to the Alliance Exchange soon and trade off all that wolf meat.

The exchange accepted all Exotic Beast Meat to be used as a raw material for Energy Bars, though the price was extremely low.

As for abnormal treasures, besides her Space Jade Pendant, she also had a Life Energy Short Sleeve to bolster her defense.

Then there was the potted flower from Taoyuan Village. Tang Mo had already tested it; when the flower was inside her Space, its rich spiritual power couldn’t be emitted. It only worked when she took it out.

It was a bit of a hassle, but it also prevented a lot of trouble.

Otherwise, any powerful spiritual power user passing by would notice something was off, which would be far too dangerous.

Nowadays, Tang Mo usually waited until night to concentrate on cultivating her spiritual power. She would place the flowerpot next to her, letting the dense spiritual power fill the air around her, and her spiritual power would grow at a terrifying rate.

In about a month, the flower would be in full bloom. At that point, its only remaining use would be to be eaten.

The Wind Breaker was still the most suitable weapon for her, and she was also quite comfortable using her armor and Poisoned Dagger.

Inside her Space was the pistol Qin Ling had given her...

The thought of the pistol reminded Tang Mo that she had used up all her bullets back in Taoyuan Village. It was time to restock her ammunition.

The Alliance now had an open policy on firearms and ammunition; as long as you had the money, you could buy them.

But the prices were exorbitant. The average person couldn’t afford them, and it was considered quite impressive for a squad to pool their funds just to own a single gun.

Deciding to act, Tang Mo opened her ID Watch, pulled up the Alliance Store page, and began browsing the options for firearms and ammunition.

The Alliance Store was a sort of offshoot of the Alliance Exchange, operating exclusively online.

As long as you were in the base, your order would be delivered to you quickly after you placed it.

”Guns are this expensive?”

Tang Mo found the same model of pistol Qin Ling had given her. The price was ten Intermediate Crystal Cores. Even for Tang Mo, who had become rich overnight, that price was outrageous.

Fortunately, the price of ammunition was something Tang Mo could stomach: ten Basic Crystal Cores per round.

Gritting her teeth, Tang Mo steeled herself and placed an order for one hundred rounds.

’One hundred rounds cost 1,000 Basic Crystal Cores. It really is easier to spend money than to make it,’ she thought.

After restocking on bullets, Tang Mo considered her current strengths and weaknesses. Her spiritual power was her greatest advantage, and her agility points were also very high. It wouldn’t be a stretch to call herself an agile superpower user.

Her Strength wasn’t high, but since Tang Mo didn’t follow a strength-based build, it didn’t matter.

Looking at her overall attribute values, her Life Force was quite low. Among superpower users with similar combat power, Tang Mo was what you’d call a ”glass cannon.”

’That won’t do. Glass cannons die first.’

Tang Mo mulled it over. Her Life Force was definitely too low.

She fished out two green, Life Attribute Intermediate Crystal Cores from her collection, held them in her palm, and quickly absorbed them.

Two Intermediate Crystal Cores were the limit of what her body could handle at once.

Brushing the Crystal Core dust from her hands, Tang Mo still wasn’t satisfied.

’Life Force is too important. If I can’t win a fight, I at least need to survive it.’

But it wasn’t something she could train; it only increased little by little. ’No, I have to find a way.’

Tang Mo opened her ID Watch again, tapped on the abnormal treasure section, and searched for items related to Life Force.

After browsing for a bit, Tang Mo had only one thought...

’Expensive. So expensive.’

The abnormal treasures in the Alliance Store were divided into two types. One was consumable, directly increasing an attribute value.

The drawback, however, was that like Crystal Cores, their use was limited by one’s physical tolerance.

The other type was equippable, items that needed to be carried on one’s person. Tang Mo’s clothes, Jade Pendant, and flower all fell into this category.

While consumable abnormal treasures were also expensive, the prices weren’t too outrageous.

Although they also contained attribute values, the strain that abnormal treasures put on the body was much less than that of Crystal Cores, and they could also improve one’s physical constitution to a certain extent.

Therefore, the price of an abnormal treasure was far beyond what the value of a Crystal Core could compare to.

Equippable abnormal treasures were even more expensive. Because they had no usage restrictions, their prices were driven to astronomical heights.

Tang Mo checked her funds. At most, she could afford a Life Force abnormal treasure that provided 20 attribute value.

It was a Wrist Guard, which would be quite convenient to wear all the time.

The price was thirty Intermediate Crystal Cores.

Thirty Intermediate Crystal Cores were no longer equivalent to three hundred Basic Crystal Cores.

Everyone now understood the importance of one’s physical constitution. As such, Intermediate Crystal Cores, which could improve it, were considered a completely different class of item from Basic Crystal Cores. There was no way to convert or exchange them based on attribute value.

’Thirty...’

The newly-minted rich woman Tang Mo felt a sharp pang in her heart.

’Oh, well. Money is meant to be spent.’

Steeling herself, she placed the order and bought a pair of Wrist Guards.

A pair of Wrist Guards provided 40 points of Life Force and cost sixty Intermediate Crystal Cores.

In reality, Tang Mo didn’t need to be so frugal. She was just so used to being poor that she couldn’t bring herself to spend money lavishly.

In fact, the number of Crystal Cores Tang Mo now possessed was comparable to the entire wealth of a small base.

However, anyone with a clear head knew that it was hard to survive in the apocalypse by relying purely on external means for improvement.

True powerhouses still had to temper their strength through countless battles and rigorous training.

The Wrist Guards were delivered to her quickly, and Tang Mo put one on each wrist.

’Mmm, very expensive, and very comfortable.’

Her Life Force had shot up by 60 points in a single day, which gave Tang Mo a great sense of security.

What did this mean?

’Before, one stab might have killed me. Now, I can take it and keep going. If I’m in good shape, I might even be able to counterattack.’

’That’s really important in a fight.’

Tang Mo headed out to the Alliance Exchange and traded all her wolf meat for space-efficient Energy Bars. Only then did she return home, finally able to sleep in peace and end her exhausting day.
