Reborn One Week Before the Apocalypse

Chapter 73: Chapter 67: He’s Here

Tang Mo had fought an Intermediate Beast before, but back then she had only been in a minor support role, assisting Qin Ling.

But now, this was her show.

Tang Mo’s greatest advantage in battle was her spiritual power, which allowed her to sense her opponent’s next move. It might only be a one-second warning, but that was enough.

This enabled her to dodge fatal attacks and find the optimal angle of approach.

Tang Mo and the wolf would clash for a few seconds before quickly disengaging, then begin the next round.

She gripped her blade tightly, channeling spiritual power into her forearm with every strike to increase her damage output.

Moreover, she didn’t just have to face the Black Wolf; she also had to spare some attention for Tiegen, firing a few shots to relieve the pressure on him.

’I have to keep them both alive.’

In order to make every strike draw blood, Tang Mo couldn’t perfectly dodge all of the Black Wolf’s attacks.

Just as she landed another strike on the Black Wolf’s back, a heavy claw struck her shoulder.

Staggering, Tang Mo grunted in pain and fell back several steps.

She glanced at her shoulder; blood had already soaked through her clothes.

The Black Wolf wasn’t faring much better. It was covered in blood but still stood its ground, waiting for the next opportunity to attack.

Tang Mo licked the corner of her mouth, tasting the Black Wolf’s blood.

Whether it was the taste of blood or something else, an inexplicable excitement began to course through Tang Mo, like an adrenaline rush.

A strange thrill shot from the soles of her feet to the top of her head, and every pore on her body seemed to scream.

’Fight.’

Rationally, she knew the best strategy was to stall for time until Qin Ling arrived.

But now, she was losing control. She had to follow the deepest desire of her heart.

This time, Tang Mo took the initiative, lunging at the Black Wolf with Wind Breaker in hand.

The Black Wolf didn’t just wait to be struck; it leaped up to meet her.

Tang Mo swung her long, powerful right leg in a sweeping kick toward the wolf’s abdomen.

The Black Wolf dodged to the side, running right into the path of Tang Mo’s calculated strike. Another deep gash, exposing the flesh beneath, split open on its body.

”AWOOO—”

The Black Wolf landed awkwardly and rolled several times, crying out in pain.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Tang Mo pursued it, raising her leg for another high kick.

She discovered her legs were both flexible and powerful. In battle, they worked in concert with Wind Breaker, bringing her entire body into coordinated motion.

Her neck and waist allowed for agile dodges, while her arms and legs worked together to attack.

Her eyes had to remain fixed on her opponent, watching every move, subconsciously calculating the next attack based on the flow of the fight.

And her brain could never stop thinking. In a fight between two opponents of similar strength, the smarter one held an absolute advantage.

In her battle with the Black Wolf, Tang Mo gradually entered a trance-like state.

It felt as if the battle wasn’t painful. Instead, she was enjoying it, enjoying the process of slowly carving herself into a fighting machine.

Without realizing it, her fight with the Black Wolf had moved farther and farther away from Tiegen, so far that she could no longer spare any attention for him. She was completely immersed in her own battle.

Soon, she turned the tide of battle, moving from a disadvantageous position to one of dominance, and began an overwhelming assault.

”Boss, is that her? She’s pretty... fierce.”

At some point, Qin Ling and his team had arrived at the entrance to Taoyuan Village.

Qin Ling took in the two fierce battlefields at a glance. He observed Tang Mo’s condition and, instead of rushing to help her, he ordered his men to first clean up the few remaining wolves by Tiegen.

Thanks to Tang Mo’s occasional covering fire, Tiegen, though consistently on the defensive, hadn’t sustained any life-threatening injuries from the wolves.

Tiegen now lay on the ground, his clothes in tatters and his body covered in blood, but he was still breathing.

Qin Ling had someone give him a pill and then left him on the ground.

He had more important business to attend to: watching his girl fight.

The people Qin Ling brought this time were his Personal Guard Team, his most direct subordinates. Outside of S Base, every single one of them was a powerhouse in their own right.

A dozen men in black combat gear now stood behind their boss, their eyes glued to the sight of their boss’s wife in battle.

When they were told they were going with their boss to rescue his wife, they had imagined a scene of a delicate young woman cowering in a corner, waiting for their boss to play the hero and save the damsel in distress.

They never expected to arrive and find that they weren’t here for a rescue mission, but to watch their boss’s wife thrash a Black Wolf.

Each of them was silently comparing their own strength to hers, only to discover with a sense of resignation that they couldn’t even measure up to their boss’s wife—a woman.

If any one of them were to face an Intermediate Beast alone, they would surely die.

They might be able to put up a fight, but the outcome would undoubtedly be defeat.

It was nothing like what they were seeing now. She was fighting this Black Wolf as if it were child’s play, as if her opponent wasn’t an Intermediate Beast but some neighbor’s big black dog she was bullying.

’How is it that the boss is a monster, and the wife he finds is also a monster? Are they even going to let the rest of us live?’

The men stared resentfully at Qin Ling’s back. They knew now: Qin Ling had brought them here specifically to mess with them.

His intentions were just plain evil.

Meanwhile, Qin Ling’s eyes were shining. As he watched Tang Mo’s every move, only one thought filled his mind.

’How can my darling be so damn cool when she fights? I have to marry her and take her home as soon as possible.’

He had seen her use a blade in the very beginning, and her skills now were leagues beyond what they were back then.

As he watched, Qin Ling suddenly felt that something was wrong. He noticed the bright red on Tang Mo’s shoulder.

That was... blood!

Qin Ling’s expression instantly turned cold. An icy aura emanated from him, and even the dozen men standing behind him could feel the sudden, dangerous shift in the atmosphere.

Qin Ling was done waiting. Just as he stepped forward to help Tang Mo end the fight, she ripped her blade from the Black Wolf’s stomach and, in the same motion, kicked its massive body away.

Tang Mo’s spiritual power had improved significantly, enough to allow her to simultaneously enhance three parts of her body for the duration of a fight.

Her eyes, her right arm holding Wind Breaker, and her right leg.

This time, the Black Wolf could not get back up. It writhed on the ground for a moment before going completely limp, signaling the end of the battle.

Still in her combat state, Tang Mo forced herself over to the Black Wolf and sliced its neck several times with Wind Breaker for good measure.

Always be cautious and clean at the end. Never be careless. This was a habit Tang Mo always maintained in battle.

Only after all this was done did she finally release a tense breath, drop her blade, and collapse onto the ground.

The battle had exhausted nearly all of her physical stamina and spiritual power.

If that wolf had held on just a little longer, it was hard to say who would have won.

However, the returns from this total exhaustion were immense. Tang Mo could feel the changes this single battle had wrought upon her.

It was as if she had a sudden epiphany, and her combat prowess instantly ascended to another level.
