Miracle Doctor Baby

Chapter 50: 50. Conflict

”Third Elder, huh? I thought it was a dead Elder...” Mo Jiuli said indifferently.

”You...” Just as the Third Elder wanted to say something in response, he suddenly discovered that he couldn’t speak at all. Not only that, he couldn’t even move. Furthermore, his dark energy was rapidly depleting...

In just a moment, the Third Elder collapsed to the ground, drenched in sweat. All he could do was glare furiously at Mo Jiuli and her daughter...

The couple of people standing behind him were shocked to see the Third Elder unexpectedly fall to the ground. As they were about to step forward and check on him, they discovered that their dark energy was also draining away and they could not move as well...

Upon this discovery, the group of people looked at Mo Jiuli as if she were a demon, staring at her with pure anger after their initial horror...

Yun Xia, who had been standing aside since the beginning, watched the once-pompous group of people collapse to the ground one by one, causing her immense satisfaction...

However, she immediately walked up to Mo Jiuli and asked with concern, ”Madam, you should leave quickly. Once the people from the Alchemy Guild come out and discover that you hurt their people, they will not let you go...”

”Elder Sister, why are you so afraid of them?” Mo Baobao curiously asked Yun Xia.

Yun Xia noticed Mo Baobao’s shining eyes. Despite her average appearance, Baobao’s eyes were unusually bright, curved like crescent moons – as though they could speak at any moment. Yun Xia couldn’t help but feel that there was something off about Baobao...

Nonetheless, seeing Mo Baobao’s curious gaze, Yun Xia sighed reluctantly, ”It’s not that I’m afraid of them, but almost everyone in Fengyun City is scared of the Alchemy Guild...”

”Oh? Are you an alchemist, Sister?” Baobao continued to ask.

”I’m not an alchemist. I came here because my father is sick – only the Great Elder from the Alchemy Guild has a way to help him. Unfortunately, I can’t get to meet the Great Elder...” Yun Xia said helplessly.

She had come here many times, but each time, Third Elder had blocked her way with various excuses. As her father’s condition worsened, she braved the situation today, only to endure an injury by the Third Elder and his associates without meeting the Great Elder...

”Does Third Elder have that much power in the Alchemy Guild?” Mo Jiuli curiously asked.

”It’s not that his authority is great; he’s just a nominal elder! However, the true elders in the Alchemy Guild, such as the Great Elder, are often refining pills or cultivating in seclusion, leaving matters to be handled by several nominal elders...” Yun Xia explained.

Then, Mo Jiuli understood that this so-called Third Elder was but a nominal figure. However, since the actual elders were unwilling to play a role in management, it inadvertently inflated the nominal elder’s authority...

This realization made her view of the Alchemy Guild worsen...

What did it matter if a force was powerful? If those under them didn’t behave properly, that power would decline someday...

If it weren’t for money or convenience, she honestly wouldn’t want to test her alchemist level...

”Can you refine pills?” Mo Jiuli asked Yun Xia.

”You... I can’t...” Yun Xia replied in shock, her eyes filled with astonishment and panic, which didn’t escape Mo Jiuli’s notice...

As soon as Yun Xia had approached, Mo Jiuli could smell the faint scent of medicinal materials on her. Thus, she was sure that Yun Xia was an alchemist but didn’t understand why she was hiding it...

Mo Jiuli didn’t speak further, nor did she show any intention of leaving. Seeing her hesitance, Yun Xia anxiously said, ”Madam, you should go! Otherwise, when the people inside come out, you won’t be able to leave...”

”Hmm, it’s already too late...” Mo Jiuli said indifferently.

No sooner had she spoken than several people came out from inside. The leading old man was wearing a black robe, accompanied by the man who had previously been with the Third Elder and the others...

When he had noticed that Mo Jiuli did not take Third Elder seriously, he had quietly slipped away. Mo Jiuli had noticed it but chose not to stop him...

”What’s going on here? Who are you?” The old man noticed that everyone from the Alchemy Guild was lying on the ground while Mo Jiuli and Yun Xia stood there unconcerned. He asked irritably.

”Second Elder, it was them, this mother and daughter duo, who did this to Third Elder and the others...” The man immediately stepped forward and said.

Yun Xia was about to explain when Mo Jiuli stopped her with an outstretched hand, signaling her to remain silent...

Although Yun Xia didn’t understand why Mo Jiuli didn’t clarify the situation, she chose to trust Mo Jiuli due to the latter’s eyes – filled with the belief that nothing would happen as long as she trusted her...

Second Elder glanced at Mo Jiuli and Yun Xia without saying anything. Instead, he squatted down first to examine the Third Elder’s body. His frown deepened as he discovered that almost all of the Third Elder’s dark energy was gone, and that he was unable to speak or move while staring at Mo Jiuli...

”Who are you? What did you do to the Third Elder?” Having inspected the Third Elder without finding any clues, Second Elder stood up and asked Mo Jiuli.

”We didn’t do anything. I was just here to test my Alchemist level, but I was stopped by these people at the doorway...” Mo Jiuli replied calmly.

At her words, Yun Xia chuckled involuntarily, turning her head toward Mo Jiuli only to find the latter still looking composed – Mo Baobao was as calm as ever as well...

Instantly, Mo Jiuli’s image in Yun Xia’s mind grew grander. If Mo Jiuli knew she was being admired simply for lying, she would feel miserable...

”You’re talking nonsense! Just now, Third Elder was perfectly fine. How could he suddenly become like this?” The man with the Third Elder earlier retorted angrily.

”You can’t just make accusations. If you say that we did something to them, who else saw it?” Mo Jiuli replied indifferently with a glance.

Second Elder sized up Mo Jiuli and Yun Xia. Although he didn’t know what they had done to the Third Elder, he was certain that there was something wrong with the state of the Third Elder and the others. He even failed to discern what had happened...

He had found no poison in Third Elder and the others’ bodies, which meant they weren’t poisoned...

But if they weren’t poisoned, how could their dark energy have disappeared? And why couldn’t they speak or move? This baffled Second Elder the most...
