Chapter 401: Chapter 177: Ying Zheng: My Two Grandsons! (Part 2)

No one in the court would have any objections.

Zhao Feng would also not be the target of public criticism.

”Great King.”

”Now, to take action against Wei, aside from military strategy.”

”We can also manipulate trade and transportation.”

”I have already devised a plan.”

”First, cut off the trade between Qin and Wei, especially the sale of provisions.”

”Next, cut off Wei’s trade relationships with other countries.”

”All grain, copper and iron, leather and cloth required by the army, warhorses, and the like, must not be allowed to cross Qin’s borders.”

”After disrupting Wei for several months with this strategy, it will surely yield miraculous results.”

”Then, when Qin takes military action against Wei, great success is certain.”

Yu Liao was speaking and meanwhile took out a booklet of strategic plans from his robe, respectfully handing it to Ying Zheng.

Ying Zheng accepted it, glanced at it solemnly, then nodded: ”Good.”

”This matter.”

”I entrust to you to execute fully, I will ensure all relevant ministers cooperate.” Ying Zheng said in a serious tone.

”Thank you, Great King, for your trust.” Yu Liao immediately accepted the order.

”One more thing.”

At this moment!

Ying Zheng’s tone shifted, a smile appeared on his face: ”After Zhao Feng headed to Yunzhong City to take up his post, the King of Yan sent congratulations to Qing Qin, and also mentioned arranging a marriage alliance with Zhao Feng, offering the Princess of Yan State to him as a concubine.”

”Minister Wang, do you have any objection?”

Wang Jian smiled: ”Since Yan wants to send a princess, how can Qin refuse?”

”Yet.”

”Their means are too foolish. Although my son-in-law is not overly shrewd, he is quite astute.”

”I suspect the King of Yan intends for Zhao Feng to marry grandly, causing members of the court to propose impeachment.”

”Now it has reached the Great King’s ears, and the plot of Yan has naturally fallen apart.”

In this era.

Compared to the legitimate wife.

A concubine holds no real status.

Everything is dependent on the husband’s favor.

Regarding his daughter, Wang Jian naturally has no worries.

Because in this era, there are no stories of concubines competing for favor unless the king is too partial. In ordinary families, or where the legitimate wife’s family has strong background, if provoked by a concubine, the legitimate wife could even directly punish her.

That is the absolute authority of the legitimate wife as the mistress of the household.

Even Wang Jian, who has a legitimate wife, also has many concubines.

”Since the Senior General has approved.”

”I naturally will not oppose.”

”A Princess of Yan State given to Zhao Feng as a concubine is considered Yan’s reaching above their station.” Ying Zheng laughed.

The words were even filled with pride.

However.

Neither Yu Liao nor Wang Jian, despite their intelligence, caught the deeper meaning in Ying Zheng’s words.

”I will issue a royal edict for Zhao Feng to marry the Princess of Yan State directly.”

”Since Yan wants to play, let Zhao Feng accompany them thoroughly.” Ying Zheng chuckled lightly.

He naturally hoped his son would marry more and flourish in descendants.

Currently, Zhao Feng’s mansion has only one legitimate wife, alongside a Princess of Han and a Princess of Zhao State — both concubines.

For Ying Zheng, this was certainly not enough.

Princesses from all Six States.

Ying Zheng intended to bestow one upon Zhao Feng.

”The Great King is wise.”

”This time, the King of Yan can only suffer silently.” Wang Jian agreed with a smile.

”By the way.”

”I wonder if the Senior General’s two grandsons are in the mansion?” Ying Zheng suddenly asked.

Inquiring this question.

Ying Zheng harbored a bit of anticipation in his heart.

In past encounters, Ying Zheng had noticed them, still during Zhao Feng’s attendance at Wang Ben’s wedding banquet.

From that first glance, Ying Zheng felt an intangible sense of affinity.

Now everything was clear.

For they are his grandsons!

Connected by blood.

His grandsons should naturally be acquainted with him.

How could they always remain distant?

Though unclear why Ying Zheng suddenly asked about his two grandsons, Wang Jian still replied honestly: ”Returning to the Great King, my daughter daily brings the two grandsons into the mansion, as after Zhao Feng left for his appointment in Yunzhong, my daughter found life in the mansion quite dull alone.”

Ying Zheng nodded with a smile: ”I have also seen those two little fellows a few times, and quite like them.”

”Today at noon, I happen to be hosting a farewell banquet for Zhao Feng’s sister.”

”Senior General, upon returning, have Wang Yan bring those two little fellows into the palace for a meeting.”

Upon hearing this.

Wang Jian immediately nodded: ”I shall return and promptly have my daughter bring the two grandsons for a meeting.”

Regarding this, Wang Jian naturally had no doubts.

”That’s good.”

”Senior General, you should return quickly.”

”Let those two little fellows hurry into the palace.” Ying Zheng said with a smile, the joy on his face was unmistakable.

Yu Liao beside him, somewhat puzzled, stole a glance, muttering inwardly: ”The Great King usually does not have such fondness for children, why today such interest in Wang Jian’s grandsons?”

It wasn’t that Yu Liao was overthinking.

Indeed, he understood Ying Zheng thoroughly.

However.

He did not dwell too much on it.

”We bid farewell.”

Wang Jian and Yu Liao bowed and slowly exited Zhangtai Palace.

Once they left.

Ying Zheng also slowly walked back to the front hall.

After taking his seat.

Ying Zheng picked up a pen, took out a blank royal edict, and wrote a sentence.

”Regarding the marriage alliance between Yan State and Zhao Feng, approved.”

In just one sentence.

He agreed to Zhao Feng marrying the Princess of Yan State as a concubine.

Having written the edict.

Ying Zheng placed the royal edict aside, knowing someone would soon disseminate it.

”My two grandsons.”

”Efang.”

”Though you worry about implicating Feng’er and them, resisting greatly from coming, our grandsons are indeed in Xianyang.”

”I will take good care of them.”
