My Youth Began With Him

Su Yu wrote, ”Stupid girl, I know that you’re pretty loyal and that you’re probably feeling guilty upon hearing that something happened to me, so I am warning you now, do not come to testify for me at the police bureau. I’m the son of an esteemed family, I have people in my family who can get me out safely. I’m just chilling at the station for a few days, so don’t be stupid… Otherwise, when I get out, I’ll skin you alive.”

What Su Yu said was too much like his style...

He was overbearingly arrogant and threatening… and extremely domineering.

However, Huo Mian knew more than anyone that he was just worried about getting her involved, and that’s why he warned her not to come.

That made Huo Mian feel even more uneasy...

She wasn’t a mary sue; she wouldn’t over sympathize and attempt to save everyone.

After all these years, she had seen all the warmth and mercilessness of life and knew how to be grateful to repay a drop of kindness with a river.

Because in this world, nobody has the obligation to be good to you without something in return.

She remembered a popular post in her Wechat friend circle a while ago.

’A lot of people may ask you out to dinner, but only a few will buy you breakfast.’

’A lot of people may want to drink with you, but few will take care of you when you’re drunk.’

’A lot of people may worry about you when you’re ill, but few will take you to the doctor and buy your medicine.’

’A lot of people may add to your glory, but few will help you in your time of need.’

’A lot of people may court you, but few will want to be responsible for you.’

’A lot of people would say that they will be there for you, but few will help you when you’re in trouble.’

’So, we have to cherish friends who are worth cherishing…’

If Huo Mian said that she never treated Su Yu like a friend, she was lying.

Because friends like Su Yu were rare.

Strangers wouldn’t protect you as nothing else mattered.

Huo Mian knew she couldn’t just not do anything, pretend to be mute, and watch Su Yu walk in and out of the police station.

She would feel guilty and lose sleep at night...

She was silent for a long time, and at last, she replied to Su Yu.

”From this moment on, you, Su Yu, are my friend.”

When Su Yu saw her reply, he was overwhelmed with joy, like a child who received a high score on a test.

He was sitting on the chair inside the interrogation room in the middle of the night, bored out of his mind. He had drunk coffee and tea, pot after pot.

Apparently, the police were going to start organizing evidence against him tomorrow and bring him to court.

Although it was only a procedure, he believed that he would be released as an innocent man.

One, he didn’t murder that woman. Two, Uncle Li never lost a case.

It was only a bit of suffering...

A lot of female stars from Imperial Star wanted to visit him, including Jian Tong. Of course, Wei Liao and Tang Chuan wanted to come too.

However, Su Yu refused to see them for one simple reason. He was sick of saying, ”stop asking me, I won’t say where I went for those ten minutes” to every person that comes to ask.

The truth was, everybody wanted to know who or what Su Yu was protecting.

When Huo Mian went back into their bedroom, Qin Chu was still in the study.

She knew that he was angry...

So, Huo Mian took a hot shower and climbed into bed.

She set an alarm and went to sleep...

She didn’t think she did anything wrong, Qin Chu’s distrust of her came from thinking too much. It was better for him to calm down.

Qin Chu came in when the sky was almost bright.

Seeing Huo Mian in a deep sleep made his gaze turn from cold to warm.

Although he was still mad at her, he still found her sleeping expression cute.

He couldn’t have enough of it.

He smoked an entire box of cigarettes in the study last night, finishing off Russian cigars.

He was in a bad mood, but when he thought about it, Huo Mian was probably just asking for his opinion.

If he didn’t agree, she probably wouldn’t go ahead with her own plan, since this incident would involve too many people.

When Huo Mian woke up in the morning, Qin Chu had already left.

There was warm milk and a sandwich on the dining table.

Even if they were giving each other the silent treatment, he didn’t forget to make her breakfast.

Huo Mian’s heart felt warm; she drank the milk and drove to the police station.

”Huo Mian, why are you here?” Gao Ran was pretty surprised seeing Huo Mian here so early in the morning.

”Gao Ran, I want to testify for Su Yu,” Huo Mian said, word for word.

”What did you say?” Gao Ran was immediately stunned.
