Villain's Evolution: Investing in My Minions Yields Crazy Returns!

Starlight Royal Academy, Noble Dormitory District.

The following morning, Victor had just stepped out of the bathroom when he saw Evelyn standing at the entrance to the study, holding a document that had just been delivered.

He was slightly startled to see her, as he hadn’t heard the door to his room open or even sensed her presence.

He placed a hand on his temple and massaged it gently. ”Evelyn, could you please knock next time? You nearly startled me.”

”Young Master,” Evelyn said, ignoring his concerns. ”The medical center has already arranged your follow-up examination.”

”What time?”

”Ten o’clock.”

Victor glanced at the clock on the wall.

”There’s still plenty of time.”

As he spoke, he casually picked up the training sword lying on the table and gave it a few light swings.

The blade sliced through the air, producing a low, whistling sound.

Although his movements weren’t particularly large, he could still feel a faint soreness deep within his right arm.

However, compared to when he had first been brought to the medical center, his condition had improved tremendously.

”Young Master,” Evelyn’s voice suddenly sounded. ”Don’t tell me you’re planning to practice your swordsmanship before your follow-up examination?”

Victor paused. ”I’m just testing how it feels.”

”The healer specifically said that high-intensity training isn’t recommended until you’ve been confirmed to have fully recovered.”

”I know.” Victor returned the sword to its rack and couldn’t help laughing. ”Have you memorized every precaution the medical center gave me?”

”Yes,” Evelyn answered quite naturally.

Victor was immediately left speechless.

Ever since his previous injury, Evelyn had clearly become much stricter about his daily arrangements. However, he wasn’t particularly bothered by it. After all, having someone handle these trivial matters for him was much easier than taking care of everything personally.

”By the way, has that Edmund made any moves since yesterday?” Victor suddenly asked.

Evelyn raised her head. ”You mean Edmund from the Roland family?”

”Mm.”

”He’s already submitted a challenge application to the academy arena.”

Victor raised an eyebrow. ”He’s certainly quick.”

”Furthermore, he’s had people spread the news among the senior students, claiming that you’ve already agreed to accept his challenge.”

Evelyn paused briefly. ”Quite a few students are now waiting to watch the match.”

Victor couldn’t help laughing. ”When did I agree?”

”Yesterday, you said you would consider it once your injuries healed and you had some free time.”

”And?”

”He seems to have interpreted that as you accepting his challenge.”

Victor shook his head.

This guy really couldn’t wait.

But since the other party had taken the initiative to make such a big deal out of the matter, it saved Victor the trouble of finding an opportunity himself.

After all, what he needed most right now was a battle that would allow him to test his current strength.

And a Level 29 senior student seemed like a suitable opponent.

”Forget about him for now,” Victor said. ”We’ll decide after the examination results come out.”

...

10:00 AM.

Academy Medical Center.

The middle-aged healer responsible for Victor’s examination stared at the detection crystal before him, his expression gradually turning to one of astonishment.

”Unbelievable...”

Victor sat on the examination bed and casually asked, ”What’s wrong?”

”Your recovery speed is even faster than I expected.”

The healer examined the data once again.

”The damage to the bones in your chest has almost completely healed. The abyssal contamination in your left arm has been entirely eliminated, and the damaged muscle tissue in your right arm has recovered remarkably well.”

He raised his head and looked at Victor.

”Under normal circumstances, injuries of this severity would require considerably more time to heal completely.”

Victor smiled and tried to downplay it. ”Maybe your treatment method was just that good, or I’m just built differently.”

The healer glanced at him. He clearly didn’t find that explanation particularly convincing.

However, professionals naturally possessed physical attributes far superior to ordinary people, and certain special talents could indeed enhance their recovery abilities.

Therefore, he didn’t pursue the matter.

”In any case, the examination results show no obvious problems.”

The healer handed him the examination report.

”You can gradually resume your normal training now, but it’s best not to immediately engage in consecutive high-intensity battles that exceed your body’s limits.”

Victor accepted the report.

”Understood.”

”Especially that previous incident where you challenged a Second Tier magical beast far above your level,” the healer couldn’t help adding another warning. ”I wouldn’t recommend attempting anything like that again anytime soon.”

”Sure, I’ll try.”

The healer: ”...”

...

After leaving the medical center, Victor brought Evelyn to the academy arena.

Since his body had more or less recovered, he naturally didn’t mind taking care of a troublesome opponent who had practically delivered himself to his doorstep.

Furthermore, he was curious to discover just how much his combat techniques had improved after his previous life-and-death battle.

Starlight Royal Academy’s arena was located on the western side of the academy.

It was a massive building capable of accommodating several thousand spectators simultaneously. Inside were multiple independent combat areas equipped with comprehensive protective barriers.

Most formal challenges between academy students took place here.

When Victor entered the arena lobby, the originally noisy atmosphere immediately quieted somewhat, and numerous students turned their heads to look at him.

”Victor’s here!”

”Is he really going to accept Edmund’s challenge?”

”Didn’t they say he was seriously injured before?”

”I heard he’s already recovered.”

”You’ve got to be kidding! Edmund is Level 29!”

Discussions rapidly spread throughout the lobby as all the students started talking at once.

Victor acted as though he hadn’t heard anything and walked straight toward the challenge registration counter.

”Hello.”

He placed his academy identification card on the counter.

”I’d like to confirm whether Edmund Roland has issued a challenge against me.”

The staff member responsible for registration hurriedly checked the records.

”Yes, Young Master Victor.”

”What type of challenge?”

”A standard competitive challenge. Both participants must use training weapons provided by the academy. Lethal attacks are prohibited, and a referee will determine the winner.”

Victor nodded, finding the rules very reasonable.

After all, the academy arena primarily existed to help students accumulate practical combat experience, not to encourage them to slaughter one another.

”I’ll accept.”

The staff member was slightly stunned.

”Are you certain?”

”Of course.” Victor replied. ”He’s already gone through the trouble of submitting a challenge application. I can’t exactly keep him waiting forever.”

The staff member quickly completed the registration.

(Challenge Successfully Confirmed!)

(Challenger: Edmund Roland)

(Opponent: Victor Alves)

(Level: 23)

As the confirmation appeared, several nearby students immediately revealed excited expressions.

At the same time, the news quickly spread throughout the entire academy.
