The Frail Guide Who Devoured an Entire Pollution Zone

Chapter 184: Chapter 184: Let Me Help You

The Mutant crashed into the wall, smashing a huge hole straight through it. Shen Yan immediately spotted several team members hiding nearby who had failed to escape, and he lunged straight at them.

At this moment, Shen Yan had entered a frenzied state. Unable to distinguish friend from foe, everyone was a target to him. If no one intervened, those team members were dead meat.

Xu Qingsui didn’t hesitate; she immediately dashed forward.

Lu Jingyu’s expression shifted slightly. He was somewhat curious whether Xu Qingsui was trying to save those team members or Shen Yan. Unfortunately, the situation was too critical for him to ponder it further. He charged forward, following right behind her.

Shen Yan moved with blistering speed, reaching the team members in the blink of an eye. Seeing no way out, faces pale with despair, they simply closed their eyes and braced for death.

Xu Qingsui saw she wouldn’t make it in time, but a figure suddenly shot past her from the side. Seeing it was Lu Jingyu, she breathed a slight sigh of relief.

Shen Yan raised his weapon, preparing to slice the team members in half. But just as he swung, a loud CLANG of colliding metal echoed through the air.

Lu Jingyu had appeared right in front of the trapped team members. Wielding Tan Lang—his blade colored red on one side and black on the other—he blocked Shen Yan’s strike.

The team members felt a sudden shadow fall over them. When they peeked and saw someone had intercepted the fatal blow on their behalf, their faces lit up with overwhelming relief. Scrambling on hands and knees, they clumsily fled the scene.

A trace of confusion flickered across Shen Yan’s face when his attack was successfully blocked. Having lost his ability to reason, he acted purely on instinct, pressing his longsword down heavily in an attempt to crush the man standing in his way.

Lu Jingyu held tightly onto Tan Lang, standing firm as a mountain. The aura of Frenzy Power swirled around the blade. Since Shen Yan was completely frenzied, Lu Jingyu didn’t dare lower his guard; he had already tapped into his own Frenzy Power when he made his move.

At the same time, a surge of excitement swelled within him. As the captain of the Survival Team, he knew exactly what it meant when a Sentinel entered a frenzied state—especially an SSS level sentinel. Because of this, he wouldn’t selfishly hope for Shen Yan to frenzy just to have a sparring match with him. Yet, completely unbidden, the opportunity had presented itself anyway. Now, he could finally test Shen Yan’s true capabilities.

At this moment, he was only using half of his Frenzy Power, which had made blocking Shen Yan’s initial attack quite effortless. But as Shen Yan began to apply more force, Lu Jingyu started to feel the strain.

He immediately released another twenty percent of his Frenzy Power, visibly slowing down Shen Yan’s offensive momentum. The corners of Lu Jingyu’s lips curled up slightly. It seemed that between the two of them, he was still the superior one.

As the two men remained locked in a stalemate, Xu Qingsui finally caught up to them. Seeing that Lu Jingyu had completely drawn Shen Yan’s attention, she glanced at him and said, ”I’ll thank you on behalf of those people earlier, but I need to trouble you to hold on a little longer. I’m going to guide him.”

Hearing her thank him for saving the team members, Lu Jingyu felt a bit more at ease. It seemed Shen Yan’s place in her heart wasn’t as important as those subordinates.

But when she finished her sentence, a knot of displeasure tightened in his chest again. He was a bit selfish; he didn’t want Xu Qingsui guiding anyone else. Because he had been guided by her before, he knew the warmth she brought, and he wanted to keep it all to himself.

However, he also knew that unless he outright killed Shen Yan right now, Xu Qingsui was the only one who could save him. Although he disliked Shen Yan, the man was ultimately the person in charge of the 27th District and was backed by considerable family influence. If he really killed him, even though he didn’t fear those backing factions, it would inevitably trigger a chain of troublesome events. He could handle it, but it would be annoying, and some of those complications might end up interfering with his own plans.

So, he could only swallow his reluctance and let Xu Qingsui proceed with the guiding.

Taking advantage of the fact that Shen Yan’s attention was entirely focused on Lu Jingyu, Xu Qingsui placed her hand on his chest. A wave of scorching heat washed over her face, seemingly intent on burning her to ashes. But a cool, refreshing aura flowed from Xu Qingsui’s hand, instantly quelling the intense heat. A soothing coolness spread from beneath her palm, enveloping him completely.

Shen Yan had been continuing to exert force, desperately trying to break through the power blocking him. Now, influenced by this refreshing coolness, his tightly wound body slowly began to relax. With a loud CLATTER, his weapon dropped to the ground.

Seizing the opportunity, Xu Qingsui released her Spiritual Power, smoothly entering Shen Yan’s Spiritual World. The volcanoes she had seen erupting last time were now in a state of total, catastrophic eruption. Magma shot meters into the air from every single crater, turning the entire Spiritual World into a sweltering inferno.

”Shen Yan, I’m here for you! Come out!” she called out.

She received no response. The craters continued to spew molten rock. Since all the volcanoes had erupted this time, Xu Qingsui soon noticed that the magma from every single peak was converging into one central location. Acting on intuition, she immediately waded toward the converging magma.

To insulate herself from the searing heat, she condensed a layer of frost over her legs. As she trudged through the molten rock, the frost continuously melted away, forcing her to constantly conjure a fresh layer. Through this endless cycle of melting and freezing, she finally reached the blazing sea where all the magma converged. The magma churned violently, sending up large, bubbling blisters.

Xu Qingsui stared into the molten depths and suddenly shouted, ”Shen Yan, you’re hiding in there, aren’t you?

”I know you’re in a lot of pain right now, and I’m here to help you end it. Come out!”

The magma continued to bubble, occasionally letting out popping sounds of bursting blisters, but there was no other response.

Xu Qingsui took a deep breath. ”Since you refuse to come out and see me, I’ll just have to go in and find you.”

Instantly, a layer of frost encased her entire body. With a look of absolute determination in her eyes, she stepped resolutely into the pool. This was a sea of fire formed by the convergence of all the magma; its temperature was on an entirely different level compared to isolated streams of lava. Almost the moment Xu Qingsui stepped in, the frost on her body began to rapidly melt away.

She continually released her elemental attributes to conjure more frost, but the speed at which it condensed was clearly no match for the speed at which it melted. Already feeling the searing heat, Xu Qingsui furrowed her brow. Yet, she didn’t flinch, continuing her march deeper into the inferno.

When her freezing speed fell hopelessly behind the melting rate, Xu Qingsui simply decided to stop wasting her time. Abandoning all resistance, she waded directly into the molten rock. The extreme temperatures quickly left swaths of scorch marks across her skin.

The agonizing pain made Xu Qingsui wince, but she still refused to retreat.

[Host, you’re being far too reckless. Please leave the magma immediately. Otherwise, your spirit body will also be damaged, and at that point, whether you can get out or not will be the least of your worries.]
