My Werewolf System

Chapter 796 Standing Before The Judge

Hearing that he was going to go to trial, Gary realized it was a serious matter. It meant right here and then, they would decide his future fate, taking in whether or not he was a criminal or not.

”Wait a second!” Gary called out. ”Donʼt I get to have a lawyer or something? Someone who will help me fight my case. I donʼt even fully know what is happening; you just brought me in, I didnʼt resist, and now youʼre just going to take me to trial.”

It was quite clear with the way things were going that if Gary did reach that trial stand, the verdict had already been set.

”Have you watched too many TV shows?” A large man with what looked like a giant hammer on his back started to walk forward. He was built like a giant brick house with his huge muscles on display.

It was hard to visually see his face because he had a black beard, which was graying in areas, covering nearly all of it. Seeing this man in person, Gary immediately felt intimidated; it was the first time in a while that he felt such raw power in front of him. The last time it was Midwak.

”The matter concerning Altered is extremely different due to how much threat they can have for the general public,” the large man explained. On his clothing, Gary could see a badge, and he could see that it stated Chief Jones.

It was a position that was higher than that of the squad leader Kanu. Which was closer to the top of the whole White Rose operation.

ʼChiefs, a couple of captains, and it looks like they have at least 10 regular Altered field agents that are surrounding me. Even if I wanted to fight my way out of this situation, it would be impossible,ʼ Gary thought to himself.

”I wouldnʼt attempt to escape if I were you,” John said as he looked at Garyʼs shifting eyes. He could see that the captive was trying to figure out a way to break out, seeing who to attack first, who would be the biggest threat. When a lot of criminals are brought in, John could see that they lost hope, they lost the will to fight, or they were filled with anger.

Although Garyʼs eyes seemed to be filled with anger, it was more so focus; he wasnʼt afraid of the situation itself; he still was trying to find a way back.

”All of us will be present for the trial,” John stated. ”Based on the result, we will see what happens to you next.”

The group started to walk together, with several Altered gridlocked around Gary. They were heading to the large oval building. Which was bigger than three Olympic stadiums; it was so large.

Gary had read about the White Rose base. It was built in Centerfield, a city where the top politicians and central government worked from. It was a way to try and deter gangs and other such things from attacking the important international figures.

Not only that, but the base itself also acted like a prison. There werenʼt many that could contain strong Altered that had been captured.

The White Rose was the only group that contained that power that was still under the influence of the central government.

”Why do you look so down, Kanu?” John asked. ”This is your case. Once itʼs dealt with and he is charged, it means that you will have earned a great achievement, you can finally get that promotion to the Chief position.”

Despite the words from the chief, Kanu still didnʼt seem too pleased with everything. The conversation, though, was being overheard by two that were close by.

Frank then gave Sadie a little nudge as he leaned in to whisper. ”See, things are looking up after all. If Kanu gets promoted to Chief, then that means that the Squad Captain position is open for you.”

Sadie didnʼt look too pleased either because she was in deep thought, thinking along the same lines as her Captain.

Something was strange; although what the Chief said was true, in a lot of cases Altered were brought straight into trial. Those were extremely high case profiles.

Where Altered were going on mass murders, or they were already Crazed Altered so a real trial couldnʼt really be conducted. It was pretty much already a done deal when an Altered became crazed.

Yet Garyʼs crimes werenʼt confirmed; they were based on hearsay so far, along with some circumstantial evidence. Some courts, if it wasnʼt in the White Rose base, would have thrown the trial out before it even reached to this point.

So why had they been able to push so much for Gary.

They had finally reached the area; off the side of the large oval building, there was a standard Victorian styled building on the side. It had large glass plain windows that would let in a large amount of light.

This room was where all cases with the Altered to do with the White Rose went through.

They entered through the double doors, and it seemed like there were already others present in the room. Sitting in a seat at the stand was a man in a black robe and had a small mallet by his side.

Then, off to the side, there were some non-field Agent White Rose members. They had computers in front of them, as they continued to type away.

The group continued to walk until they had reached a barriered door. John and Kanu stood side by side next to Gary. While half of the Altered that came with them stood behind Gary and the other half went to stand in front between the judge and himself.

”The trial for the person Gary Dem, an Altered in our society, will now commence,” the judge stated.
