Fated to My Billionaire Husband

Chapter 1888: Chapter 1888: The Slap Echoed Loudly

Coming out of the examination room, the two walked down the hospital corridor. Before long, cries of grief echoed from a nearby ward.

Jian Yufei looked towards the ward in confusion.

She saw a woman lying on the bed, her eyes closed, face stiff and pale, seemingly already dead.

And a man, perhaps her husband, was holding her body and crying painfully.

The man cried sorrowfully, saying many things.

Nothing more than lamentations like, ”What will I do alone now that you’ve left?”

Jian Yufei stared at them in a daze, and there were also a few other patients watching at the door.

”What illness did she die from?” someone asked softly.

”I heard it was leukemia, even after half a year of treatment, it was no use, and she still died.”

Upon hearing the word ’leukemia,’ Jian Yufei’s mind buzzed, and her head spun slightly.

Someone else said, ”With her gone, her husband is pitiful. They had a good relationship, he always took care of her. I heard from the nurses at the hospital that half a year ago, he was quite young and handsome, but in just six months, he has aged a lot.”

”Yeah, these incurable diseases are the most harmful, hurting others and oneself...”

”If I were to get such a disease, I’d rather die early. It’s better than dragging my family down since it’s untreatable anyway...”

Jian Yufei’s heart suddenly throbbed sharply—

She quickly turned her gaze away, her breathing slightly rapid, ”Let’s hurry and leave.”

”What’s wrong?” Ruan Tianling hugged her tightly and asked with concern, furrowing his brow.

Jian Yufei shook her head, ”Nothing, just seeing them like that makes me feel a bit uncomfortable.”

”Then let’s hurry up and leave.” Ruan Tianling held her close as they left. Jian Yufei seemed so lost that she didn’t even realize her handbag had fallen to the ground.

They walked a good distance before she noticed her handbag was missing.

When they went out today, Ruan Tianling only brought a driver and no subordinates.

They no longer faced any danger, going out like ordinary people, safely, with no need for subordinates to accompany them.

Ruan Tianling said, ”Wait here for me, I’ll go find it.”

Jian Yufei nodded, looking calm on the outside, but inside her mind was a blur, dizzy.

Her heart was still pounding violently, aching hard, uneasy.

She fixed her gaze on Ruan Tianling’s receding figure, and suddenly her vision blurred.

The sounds from the hospital seemed to vanish; she realized she couldn’t see or hear anything clearly.

Unconsciously, her body tilted to the side—

Quite coincidentally, she fell against a female patient.

The patient was walking in the corridor, and because of the collision with Jian Yufei, her wound tore open, causing her to cry out sharply.

Jian Yufei’s body was immediately pushed away, crashing into the wall.

Jian Yufei instantly became clear-headed, followed by the piercing scream.

”How are you walking, are you blind?!”

Jian Yufei turned her head blankly, meeting a woman’s grim expression.

As she looked at her, not even comprehending what had happened, a slap landed firmly on her cheek.

”Slap—” The sound was particularly loud.

Everyone passing by in the corridor witnessed the scene.

Jian Yufei was dazed from the hit, only feeling a burning pain on her cheek.

The female patient grabbed her arm forcefully, screeching, ”You opened my wound! Pay up, unless you cure my illness, don’t even think about leaving!”

”Let go.” Jian Yufei feebly shook her hand, but couldn’t break free.
