Fated to My Billionaire Husband

Chapter 1685: Chapter 1685: Choosing Nangong Xu as the Successor

Jian Yufei nodded knowingly, “I understand.”

“What are you going to do?” Qi Ruisen asked.

Jian Yufei’s eyes flashed with determination, “I won’t let Ansel sit in that position. Whoever wants it can take it.”

Sitting in that position would surely result in turbulent times.

She would not let her child become their sacrificial pawn.

Qi Ruisen nodded, respecting her decision, “If that’s what you think, then go ahead and do it your way.”

“Thank you for your understanding.”

“I am Ansel’s godfather, I’ve watched him grow up, and I don’t want him to be in any danger either.”

…

Sure enough, after a short while, someone came to invite Jian Yufei and Qi Ruisen to the meeting.

Jian Yufei changed into something more formal, applied light makeup, then took Qi Ruisen’s arm and headed to the castle’s meeting room.

The meeting room was large, luxuriously decorated.

By the time Jian Yufei and the others arrived, everyone was already there.

There were about twenty or thirty people present—

Before coming, Qi Ruisen had told her that these people were all important descendants of the Nangong Family, but not everyone had the surname Nangong; some were descendants of the female line of the Nangong Family.

The main seat belonged to Nangong Wenxiang.

However, he couldn’t attend the meeting, so the seat was left empty.

Nangong Xu and Nangong Ruyue sat to the right of the main seat, while two empty seats on the left were for Jian Yufei and Qi Ruisen.

Qi Ruisen had married into the Nangong Family, so according to the order, he sat below Jian Yufei.

“Alright, everyone is here. If anyone has questions, please raise your hand and speak.” Nangong Xu, having the highest status, naturally chaired the meeting.

An elder seated below Nangong Ruyue on the right, the same elder who had voiced his opinion in the hospital yesterday, raised his hand slightly, then spoke in a hoarse voice.

“Everyone knows, the old master has fallen ill and is unconscious; even if he wakes, he won’t be able to accomplish anything.

Our Nangong Family can’t go a day without a head, otherwise, many outside are waiting to exploit the situation against us.

So with everyone’s consensus, we’ve decided to elect the next heir at today’s assembly.

The heir was originally Ansel, but Ansel is missing and can’t be found; he’s also too young to shoulder such a great responsibility. Therefore, I choose Nangong Xu to inherit the family; does anyone have any objections?”

Jian Yufei glanced indifferently at that elder.

She only later discovered that he was Nangong Xu’s uncle.

No wonder he strongly supported him.

Someone agreed, “I have no objections. Nangong Xu’s abilities are evident to all, he is the old master’s son-in-law and also a direct bloodline of the Nangong Family. His identity and ability make him more than qualified to inherit the family.”

“I also support Nangong Xu inheriting the family, Ansel is too young. If we want our family to continue to prosper, only Nangong Xu can take over.”

Many voices supported him.

Qi Ruisen and the others said he was very popular, having control over more than half of the Nangong Family, so it was reasonable for these people to elect him.

Even though the ancestors had commanded that only a descendant of Nangong Longyi could inherit the family.

But obviously, these people intended to break this rule while Nangong Wenxiang was incapacitated.

The descendants of Nangong Longer had been subordinate for over a hundred years, but they too were ambitious and definitely unwilling to continue like this.

If Nangong Xu inherited the family, the descendants of Nangong Longer would all rise with the tide, gaining more benefits.
