She Lives without Regret in This Life

”Gu Yunbo?” he called out.

”Huh?” A flustered Gu Yunbo suddenly snapped awake, then jumped back a meter like a startled rabbit, staring at him in shock, unable to react for a long time.

Meng Fan saw she was awake and asked, ”What did you just call me?”

”Nothing, really nothing.” Gu Yunbo waved her hands repeatedly, ”Sorry, I wasn’t fully awake just now, I thought I was dreaming!” Damn! What foolishness did she just do?

Her brain was really rusty. Groggily opening the door to see Meng Fan standing there, she thought it was a dream from her past life! She still hadn’t truly accepted the fact that she was reborn.

She’d rather believe she was dreaming of Meng Fan than accept he was reborn with her.

”You called me...”

Before he could finish, Gu Yunbo hastily interrupted, ”You heard wrong, you really heard wrong.”

”Hmm!” Seeing her reaction, despite all his doubts, he just pushed them down, ”Don’t shout that in the future.” Leaving the warning, he turned and went back to his room.

”Okay!” Gu Yunbo poked her head out from her room and immediately saw Sister Fang standing downstairs in the living room, looking at her as if she’d seen a ghost.

”Hehehe...” She giggled foolishly and greeted Sister Fang, ”Good morning, Sister Fang! Sorry to trouble you.”

”It’s fine, no trouble at all.” Had she just seen things? Could she be going short-sighted before even hitting forty? Gu Yunbo actually embraced Meng Fan without getting thrown out, she must have imagined it.

She heard corn is good for eyesight, better buy some and cook it tonight.

After greeting Sister Fang, Gu Yunbo retreated to her room again. She sat cross-legged on the bed, utterly bored. She hadn’t slept a wink last night, thinking over many problems, and only dozed off around morning.

She couldn’t go back to the Ping Family now, even if she did it would just lead to endless quarrels with Ping Simin, none of which she wanted. Since in this life she didn’t plan to seek revenge, then she couldn’t plot against Ping Simin like in her past life, nor could she kill her.

Not returning to the Ping Family, she really had nowhere else to go for the time being. The college entrance exam was next winter, more than a year away! She was only seventeen, too young to join the rescue team, what should she do?

To completely sever ties with the Ping Family is impossible; she wanted to change her fate, specifically Meng Fan’s fate, not her own.

Completely separating from the Ping Family would result in more things spiraling out of her control.

Sigh!

Gu Yunbo irritably fell back onto the bed, staring at the ceiling, thinking of how she just rushed into Meng Fan’s arms, sighing again over her misstep.

Too reckless.

Little Star, Little Star... she must have gone mad to call out that name in front of him. For so many years, Little Star was a secret buried deep in her heart, whispered only in moments of deep longing.

Now calling it out in front of him, he was probably furious, right?

No, she needed to apologize.

Gu Yunbo jumped up from the bed, hurriedly got herself washed and dressed, and then headed downstairs.

”Yunbo, have some breakfast!” Sister Fang called out.

”Thanks!” Gu Yunbo walked sideways like a crab to the dining table, where Meng Fan, now dressed in casual clothes, was already seated and eating.

”Morning!” She greeted.

”Not morning anymore!” Meng Fan replied without even looking up.

Gu Yunbo smiled awkwardly, and Sister Fang, seeing her state, sighed with relief, thinking that young people do bounce back quickly, much better than last night.
