She Lives without Regret in This Life

Even when the Victoria Theater reopened, she didn’t have time to manage it. All the operations inside were handed over to Demira, and the only thing she did was allocate funds and provide Lady Linglong.

Originally, she wanted to perform as Lady Linglong herself, but now that dream was shattered.

Housekeeper Xing noticed the Family Head was in a bad mood and guessed it was because she was upset about not being able to dance. But it wasn’t his place to say anything, as dancing was considered a trivial matter for the Feng Family Head.

”How is the preparation for the hundred billion in foreign exchange going?” She pulled her drifting thoughts back and continued to focus on the present tasks.

”There’s still a gap.”

”How much?”

”Nearly twenty billion.”

Sheng Ning twirled the pen in her hand, bit her lip, and made a difficult decision.

”I noticed in the asset details that Uncle has private accounts and gold reserves in the Swiss Bank and the British Bank.”

”Yes.”

”Draw the twenty billion in foreign exchange from there and directly convert it into pounds.”

Housekeeper Xing was shocked, ”Family Head, that’s your private reserve.”

Each Feng Family Head traditionally had their own private reserve, which was never to be used unless absolutely necessary.

”I don’t need them, and this money will help the Feng Family reach a higher level.” A hundred billion in foreign exchange was her commitment; not a penny less.

If US Dollars aren’t enough, then use pounds to make up the difference; the key is to meet the target.

”Alright, I’ll go right away!”

”Hmm!”

After Housekeeper Xing left, Sheng Ning stood by the window in a daze. Outside the floor-to-ceiling window, snow fell heavily, not typical for Northern climates, and knowing she couldn’t return home made her anxious.

”Ah! I’ll go back to see the little ones tonight!” she muttered to herself, her gaze inadvertently sweeping across the road outside. Just then, she saw a car slowly approaching. When it stopped, the sight of the person stepping out made her eyes light up.

”Uncle!” Sheng Ning hurried out, and by the time she reached them, Su Hai was already inside with two little ones dressed like pandas.

Gu Yunbo slammed the door shut behind them and followed with long strides.

”Uncle, why are you here?”

”You haven’t been back for a month; even if I don’t miss you, your son and daughter certainly do.” Su Hai said, handing the boy to Sheng Ning, then casually added, ”The matter you asked me to handle is done. The folks back home are thrilled; I have to thank you properly since your help got me transferred.”

Su Hai’s political and diplomatic objectives for this trip had long been met. With the second-in-command personally helping with coordination with the Ministry of Commerce back home, they were just waiting for Sheng Ning’s return.

”Little brother, did you miss Mom?” Sheng Ning held the little guy, kissed his cheek, and rubbed the top of his hat, making him shy away, burrowing into her embrace to hide.

”Haha... When did little brother learn to be shy?” Sheng Ning was amused by this discovery.

”Exactly! He hasn’t learned much, but he’s mastered being shy.” Gu Yunbo spread his hands and joked, ”Your son is quite clever for his age and knows how to make people happy.”

”That’s because everyone favors girls over boys, so he has to care for himself.”

Gu Yunbo rolled his eyes, thinking she was thick-skinned.

”Little one, even if others don’t, Mom cares for you! You’ll be Mom’s good son, and remember to find Mom a dutiful wife when you grow up!”
