She Lives without Regret in This Life

”Still thinking about Su Hai? Let me tell you, that kid Su Hai is unlikely to betray anyone, so you can relax! It’s probably someone outside...” The administrative director suddenly stopped mid-sentence, his eyes fixated on the watch on the table.

”What’s wrong? Is this watch expensive?” The administrative director comes from a wealthy background, so his taste is quite extraordinary.

”More than just expensive.” The administrative director clicked his tongue in wonder, ”Even if we both worked until we died without retiring, we might not earn this much money.”

This made the second leader even more astonished.

”Would you tell me, who gifted you this watch? To present such an extravagant watch, their intentions must be significant, so you better be careful.”

”Am I the type to accept bribes?”

”No, but...”

”It was given by Sheng An, a classmate, brought back from M country saying everyone in the compound has one.”

”That’s quite fortunate?”

”I reckon it is...” Before the sentence was finished, the phone on the table rang and it appeared to be transferred from the General Political Department.

”Hello, this is Fan Hengyan.”

”Hello, Leader.” The other side greeted proficiently, ”This is the temporary command center for external affairs at the General Political Department, a call from Chairman Su Hai wants to be transferred to you.”

”Send it over!”

”Yes!”

Fan Hengyan thought, speak of the devil! The speed is quite quick; Su Huili must have calculated Sheng An’s arrival perfectly to make this call, right?

When the call was transferred, Su Hai’s deep voice came through. ”Hello, Leader.”

”Ah! Su Huili, do you need my help with something?”

”Oh! There’s nothing leadership can’t see through.” Su Hai spoke directly, ”I haven’t returned all the while; I bet there are many bad rumors about me at home.”

”At least you have some self-awareness.” It’s not just bad rumors; unless an explanation is given, your position is temporarily suspended.

”Hahaha... I want to ask you to give a shout-out to the minister of the Ministry of Commerce, having heard you are old friends.”

After hearing An’an’s words, Fan Hengyan roughly got the idea in his mind and without hesitation agreed when Su Hai asked.

This Su Huili has calculated that he wouldn’t refuse.

Fan Hengyan traveled by car all the way to the Ministry of Commerce. Before he came, he had people notified, saying there were important matters to discuss. When he arrived, several leaders were present.

”Old Fan, why are you here?”

”Yes! What wind blew today to bring you, a distinguished deputy commander, personally to our place?”

”Why not stay for a while today? It’s rare for us to meet after so many years.”

The leaders and Fan Hengyan were old acquaintances, having worked together in rescue operations before, but went separate ways due to different developmental paths. Now the country is busy with reforms and opening up, so the Ministry of Commerce has more pressure.

Due to previous policies and over a hundred years of chaos, many foreign businesses were hesitant to come. They tried various incentives, but the results were still not significant.

At the recent National People’s Congress, the Ministry of Commerce was the most embarrassed.

”Just so happens I’m not busy today; I thought I’d drop by to check things out.” Fan Hengyan removed the big hat from his head, looked around, and praised, ”Not bad! Your conditions are better than our command center.”

”It’s incomparable to your command center.”

”Indeed.”

”You’re in charge of the economic lifeline.”
