From the Metropolis to the Strongest in the Cosmos

Are you kidding? A peerless genius cultivated with so many resources by the Human Race’s Eternal Saint Hall having ties to an Alien Race? The very idea was impossible.

”Impossible to have ties?”

Hearing Han Yun’s words, Luoyu said calmly, ”Han Yun, our mission is to arrest everyone within the Beast Origin Sect. Since Li Yang is here, he is naturally one of our targets.”

”Lord Deity.”

Hearing Luoyu’s words, Li Yang spoke up. ”I came to the Beast Origin Sect to save my sworn brother. A simple investigation will confirm this.”

He could clearly sense Luoyu’s animosity toward him, but Li Yang wasn’t the type to be pushed around. He wasn’t about to stay silent.

After Li Yang spoke, Luoyu’s brow furrowed slightly. ”Li Yang, I will of course conduct a thorough investigation into why you came to the Beast Origin Sect.”

He stood in the void, looking down on Li Yang. ”However, during the investigation, you are also a suspect. Anyone inside the Beast Origin Sect is a suspect. Men, seize Li Yang and imprison him with the others from the Beast Origin Sect.”

With a wave of his hand, he gave the direct order.

Hearing this, the expressions of the Deities present changed.

”Luoyu, you can’t do this!”

”Even if Li Yang is a suspect, he must not be imprisoned with the people from the Beast Origin Sect.”

The protests came from the Deities, particularly the group from the Human Race’s Eternal Saint Hall, led by Han Yun.

Li Yang was one of the most prodigious geniuses of his generation from the Human Race’s Eternal Saint Hall. When he broke through to the Star Lord Realm, the Saint Hall had even assigned a Tri-System Deity to be his personal guard. In just ten short years, they had also arranged for powerful opportunities like the Star Moon Race’s inheritance and the Thunder Spirit Race’s Body Refining, which showed just how much they valued him.

If Li Yang were imprisoned, wouldn’t that be a slap in the face to the Saint Hall?

Of course, the Eternal Saint Hall wouldn’t make a major issue out of imprisoning a single, relatively weak Star Lord Realm genius. But for the Deities from the Saint Hall present, it was deeply embarrassing.

After all, they were all part of the same faction.

They couldn’t just let Luoyu lock up their faction’s prodigious genius, Li Yang, like a common suspect.

Hearing Luoyu’s words, Li Yang’s expression shifted slightly. ’Imprison me with the members of the Beast Origin Sect? Are they really treating me like a spy for the Alien Race?’

His heart sank. Li Yang sent a voice transmission to Hei Xu, asking, ”Hei Xu, who is this Luoyu? He seems to have it out for me. I’ve never met him before, so why is he so hostile?”

He and Luoyu had never crossed paths before; this was their first meeting.

Hei Xu’s expression had darkened as well. He sent back a transmission, ”Li Yang, Luoyu is hostile toward you, probably because he was the number one genius before you and Mixed Void came along.”

”The number one genius?” Li Yang was a little surprised.

Currently, with a Talent ranked in the top one hundred of the Human Race’s entire history, Mixed Void was the undisputed number one genius of the present era.

Li Yang, on the other hand, was known as the number two genius.

Before them, the Human Race must have had other recognized top geniuses. He just never expected that one of them would be this Luoyu right in front of him.

Hearing the discussions around him, Luoyu’s expression remained calm. ”It seems there are differing opinions about imprisoning Li Yang,” he said. ”Han Yun, you disapprove?”

Han Yun nodded. ”Luoyu, Li Yang’s situation is unique. He has had absolutely no opportunity to contact any Alien Races. We can confirm the facts with a simple investigation. There’s no need to imprison him.”

At these words, Luoyu’s expression remained unchanged. He turned to another man beside him, a member of the Tiger Race clad in black armor, and asked, ”Zhu Lie, what is your opinion?”

Zhu Lie smiled. ”This Alien Race gathering is a matter of great importance. Even if Li Yang’s status is special, we must consider the bigger picture and act with caution. We must prevent any member of the Alien Race from using Li Yang as cover to escape our detection. Therefore, to ensure there are no mishaps, we can only ask Li Yang to endure a temporary inconvenience. I’m sure he will understand.”

Zhu Lie was a Deity from the Hun Yuan Martial Dao Saint Realm.

As he finished speaking, the other members of the Hun Yuan Martial Dao Saint Realm all nodded in agreement.

”Zhu Lie is right. Everything must be for the greater good.”

”What’s a little inconvenience for Li Yang when the greater good is at stake? It’s not like he’s being harmed.”

”Hmph! And look at Li Yang’s defiant expression. Luoyu’s order is perfectly correct. Even if Li Yang has a special status, the Beast Origin Sect is a gathering place for the Alien Race. Since he was found here, he’s a suspect. Our Human Race’s history is full of geniuses who have been controlled by the Alien Race.”

”For the sake of our Human Race, what’s wrong with being detained for a while?”

The Hun Yuan Martial Dao Saint Realm and the Eternal Saint Hall were the two colossal powers of the Human Race, and a great deal of rivalry existed between them.

Competition breeds progress, and the upper echelons of both powers encouraged it.

Recently, the Eternal Saint Hall had produced two peerless geniuses in a row, both of whom had easily passed the twelfth step of the Path of Deities.

Meanwhile, the Hun Yuan Martial Dao Saint Realm had not produced a single one, which was naturally a source of some discontent for them.

’Imprisoning Li Yang from the Eternal Saint Hall would be a good way to take those arrogant people from their faction down a peg.’

’The people from the Hall never let us forget that our Saint Realm has no new geniuses. I’m sick and tired of it.’

’That’s right. This time, we’re just following procedure. No one can find any fault with that.’

The Deities from the Hun Yuan Martial Dao Saint Realm were actually looking forward to Li Yang being imprisoned, if only to stop the Deities from the Eternal Saint Hall from constantly boasting.

The two powers competed on all fronts, frequently comparing the geniuses from their respective factions.

Lacking such talents, the Hun Yuan Martial Dao Saint Realm naturally fell short in these comparisons, which left them feeling frustrated.

Therefore, on the issue of whether to imprison Li Yang, they unhesitatingly sided with Luoyu.

Li Yang’s expression was icy as he listened silently to the discussions among these powerful Deities.

”I have heard everyone’s opinions.”

After letting everyone voice their opinions, Luoyu turned back to Li Yang and said indifferently, ”Li Yang, do you have anything to say for yourself now?”

Li Yang looked up at the young man who was looking down on him from the void and said coldly, ”Two Tri-System Deities from the Alien Race died because of me not long ago. If you, Lord Deity, still believe I have ties to the Alien Race, then I have nothing more to say.”

Tri-System Deities were already the strongest force the Alien Race could dispatch to assassinate human geniuses.

If Li Yang truly had ties to the Alien Race, why would he have them sacrifice two Tri-System Deities? That would be foolish.

That point alone should have been enough to prove his innocence.

Hearing Li Yang’s defense, Luoyu said flatly, ”Li Yang, the deaths of those from the Alien Race happened several months ago. It proves nothing now.”

”This business with the Beast Origin Sect is too important. And as I said, anyone found inside is a suspect and could have ties to the Alien Race. Li Yang, you will come with us.”

”However, since so many people have pleaded on your behalf, I will not imprison you with the others from the Beast Origin Sect. I will have you detained separately. You will naturally be released once the investigation is complete.”

He looked down on Li Yang as if he were a supreme judge, easily pronouncing his verdict on Li Yang’s fate.
