Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 942: Chapter 940: Prism (13) Chapter 942: Chapter 940: Prism (13) Huh?

At that moment, the impact of Fu Qian’s words even surpassed the scene where Adele was shot in the head.

Mainly because his previous performance had nothing to do with the phrase “volunteering,” let alone an action with such high risk.

For a time, everyone had the same reaction: did this guy have some special idea in mind?

“…Guansi, who do you hope will go with you?”

Looking at Fu Qian with uncertainty, Qing, as the proposer of the plan, finally spoke up.

This question was both an inquiry and a test; if Guansi really made a choice, it could to some extent reveal his view of the team, like whom he trusted the most.

Unfortunately, the response she got was…

“No need, I can do it myself.”

Fu Qian showed not a trace of hesitation.

“After all, theoretically speaking, the more batches we split into, the higher the success rate, isn’t it?”

That was indeed true, but this…

Regardless, Qing still couldn’t believe that the person before her suddenly became so self-sacrificing, and in fact, most people felt the same.

This sixth person might not be as simple as imagined, but he was definitely not proactively enthusiastic. To say that he had spotted some danger and was preparing to decisively flee alone seemed even more likely.

“Then you’ve got a tough job ahead, Guansi. When are you planning to set out?”

Yet at this moment, someone expressed appreciation for Fu Qian’s act.

Masked Man nodded as he asked.

“The situation could deteriorate at any moment, so why not now?”

Fu Qian replied just as naturally.

Now? You must be joking!

For a moment, the smile on Masked Man’s face stiffened, and Red Dragon couldn’t help stepping forward.

“It’s too dangerous now! Even if you deliberately contaminate yourself with the glow, it might take time for the pollution to deeply infiltrate your body.”

“How could that be.”

Fu Qian just waved his hand, his composure unshakable.

“Based on our conclusion just now, the more accumulated madness, the less likely to be attacked, right?”

“…Yes.”

“Then isn’t that settled?”

Fu Qian had already reached the door, listening to the noises outside while pointing to himself.

“Isn’t this behavior of mine mad enough?”

Undoubtedly, Fu Qian’s transcendental way of thinking gave the five teammates a small shock.

Red Dragon was left speechless, and the others seemed to hesitate with the idea of persuading him.

Could such an abnormal character in the team be a hidden threat?

“It seems they haven’t gathered at the door yet. Seal it well after I go out.”

Fu Qian didn’t care about their thoughts. After speaking, he opened the door and left, his actions as casual as a lab technician finishing work and preparing to go for a meal.

“It seems we haven’t decided how we’re going to regroup?”

Not until that moment did Lady Star let out an exclamation of alarm, realizing something.

“You don’t think he’s going to come back, do you…”

Qing gave her a look, sighed deeply, and quickly went forward to close the door again.

And in a fleeting glance, they could see Guansi silently passing by two figures in uniform.

Yet without making any noise, those two oddly postured individuals, as if possessed, suddenly turned their heads to look at him and began to follow step by step.

“We’re still going to be attacked.”

Qing took half a step back and conveyed Guansi’s last ripple to everyone, but at that moment, no one responded.

Looking up, they saw that even the death row inmate, who had never got along with Guansi, now had a stupefied expression.

…

Such an overwhelming sense of a biochemical crisis.

While reflecting on this, Fu Qian adjusted his breathing and movements, seeking to consume the least amount of energy to shake off the pursuit from behind.

This was no joke: there weren’t many people in the corridor, but their various postures and expressions could be said to be rich and varied.

To describe them in Adele’s words: they were indeed like zombies.

At the same time, their aggressiveness was quite exaggerated; hardly any seemed benign.

Fortunately, before this group of people became like this, they had clearly gone through an extreme mutual destruction, and now barely a few had intact parts left, so their movements were not so convenient.

Additionally, by this time, the glow on his own body had also slightly spread, to some extent lowering their sensitivity; otherwise he definitely would not have had enough bullets.

As for now…

He rushed to the end of the corridor and glanced at the figures blocking the door not far away; Fu Qian did not hesitate for a moment, changing his direction.

Although it seemed closely related to the mission objective, heading to the top floor was out of the question at this time.

On one hand, the chance of success was slim, and on the other, Fu Qian had something else he wanted to verify.

What was comforting was that at the entrance to the next floor, there seemed to be no sentries for the time being, and Fu Qian sped up a bit, managing to distance himself from the pursuers at his back, took out his tools.

And this time, he only needed half the time from before to successfully open the door.

Being well-practiced was one thing, but more importantly, it was necessary to hold back in front of a group of teammates each with their own thoughts.

And even so, after opening the door, he wasn’t given any time to survey, for the pursuers were almost upon him.

He opened the door a crack, darted inside without another word, and fired two shots.

The two incoming infected had three of their legs severed, significantly slowing them down.

Learning from the previous experience with Adele, a headshot was not very effective on the infected, so Fu Qian decisively targeted their mobility.

And the reason he broke three legs with two shots was simple—the long legs of one lady, clad in black stockings, had already been rendered useless, looking even as if they had been gnawed by teeth.

Without a doubt, the wounds of both revealed streaks of glowing fluorescence.

Thud!

Almost simultaneously, a violent impact came from behind, but luckily the door opened the opposite way and was braced by Fu Qian’s back, posing no major issue.

Fu Qian didn’t waste any time, quickly relocking the door, pulling out his Tranquilizer to move forward.

Click!

Although it had lost its Transcendent effect, thanks to its ingenious design, the Tranquilizer still served as an excellent blunt weapon, and Fu Qian had directly smashed the only functional knee joint of the two.

Although not evacuated, it was clear that some safety precautions had been taken.

Ignoring their futile clawing due to the distance, Fu Qian silently assessed the two infected.

Like the one training dogs above, they were dressed in unmistakably identical dark uniforms, which didn’t seem like something lab technicians would wear.

Of course, stockings also seemed unsuitable for security personnel to wear; it appeared that this place was usually quite peaceful and harmonious.
