Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 940: Chapter 938: Facet (11) Chapter 940: Chapter 938: Facet (11) It was clear that everyone was contemplating the reasons behind the bizarre changes happening before their eyes.

And Brother Red Dragon, who had been leading the way all along, was obviously not just brave but prudent as well.

Realizing they couldn’t escape the building smoothly, he decisively chose this place, where they had previously made some gains, as a hiding spot.

His idea was not complicated, he simply wanted to compare the items inside the safe.

In theory, compared to locked doors and emerging dogs, changes within a locked safe seemed slightly more credible.

Unlike the Death Row Inmate, Lady Qing undoubtedly saw through his reasoning. As for the others…

The Death Row Inmate instinctively looked around and found that, apart from Lady Star, neither Masked Man nor Guansi even bothered to glance at him, as if they found nothing surprising about the current events.

These two characters…

The Death Row Inmate bit his lip in frustration, only to see Brother Red Dragon already looking at Fu Qian.

“Guansi?”

“No problem.”

Fu Qian showed considerable amicability, without waiting for Red Dragon to say more, he had already pulled out his tools and stepped forward.

Of course, it was a different set of tools—the ones contaminated earlier had been discarded by him.

Even the suddenly deteriorating situation seemed to have no effect on his mindset. Specifically, his lock-picking speed had improved, with the time spent reduced by more than ten percent.

Even after completing the task, Fu Qian very considerately stepped aside again, leaving the unveiling of the mystery to Red Dragon.

…

Although they found Fu Qian’s attitude somewhat incomprehensible, his calm and composed demeanor indeed eased the team’s pressure somewhat.

“Thank you!”

Red Dragon did not demur and directly approached to open the safe, even positioning himself at a safe spot.

This…

The next moment, there was more than one sharp intake of breath in the room.

“How come there are three bottles?”

Lady Star couldn’t help but exclaim.

Despite the dim light, it was still possible to discern that once again, three potions stood quietly within the re-locked safe.

“Even the colors are identical.”

Red Dragon reached in, silently took out the three potions, and placed them carefully before finally speaking.

The current situation obviously wasn’t as simple as a group of people coming and locking the door.

And among the onlookers, the Death Row Inmate was undoubtedly the most uncomfortable.

This scene made the red, green, and blue potions he had solemnly collected earlier quite an awkward predicament.

“Guansi what do you think?”

After a moment’s hesitation, Red Dragon looked at Fu Qian again.

Whether it was their earlier joint actions or his performance all along the way, he respected the opinion of this sixth person and did not dare to take it lightly.

With the situation being urgent, he simply singled him out to hear his view, whether Fu Qian had an answer or not.

“It’s pretty obvious.”

Unexpectedly, the next moment, not only did Fu Qian not decline, he even pointed directly at the Death Row Inmate.

“Bring out those three bottles.”

…

Due to the previous conflict, the Death Row Inmate was clearly very reluctant to follow Fu Qian’s orders.

However, he had no reason to refuse.

Eventually, under the gaze of everyone, the pressure overwhelmed him, and he reluctantly took out the three potions, one by one.

“Here, the colors are identical: I believe even if they were mixed together, we wouldn’t be able to distinguish them.”

Under the gaze that shifted back onto himself, Fu Qian casually arranged the six potions together.

“So, the answer is simple: these three bottles are those three bottles.”

What kind of explanation was that?

Confronted with Fu Qian’s puzzling narration, Red Dragon was taken aback for a moment, but then quickly understood.

“Are you saying we’re no longer in our original time-space? That we’ve come to this place at another point in time in a special way?”

“More precisely, we should be in a different possible development of this place.”

Fu Qian nodded with a look of ‘well done pupil’.

“We had encountered Adele before, who told us this empty place was due to someone foreseeing an impending disaster and successfully persuading others to evacuate. Now here comes the question… what if that person didn’t foresee it, or saw it but failed to convince everyone?”

Fu Qian gestured outside.

By this time, the corridor had already become much more noisy.

Clearly, those unfriendly zombies had an excellent tracking ability.

“Imagine that possibility: wouldn’t the situation outside naturally be exacerbated?”

“Isn’t that a bit too far-fetched?”

Although Fu Qian’s words were difficult to refute at the moment, they were equally hard to accept.

The first to express opposition was Lady Qing.

She was surveying their surroundings while furrowing her brows.

“If your conjecture is true, it means we have unknowingly crossed time and space, isn’t this major change too imperceptible?”

“Who says it’s imperceptible?”

Fu Qian gestured towards the window with his chin.

“Are you talking about the colors…”

Following his gaze, Qing grasped the concept almost instantly.

She hadn’t paid special attention earlier, but now looking closely, the sky and earth were enveloped in a profound red, with the original blue having vanished completely.

“Did the alternation of colors just now represent the intersection of two time-spaces?”

Muttering under her breath, Qing suddenly realized something and looked down at the fluorescent traces on her body.

“Is that why the fluorescence in the lock was so exaggeratedly bursting out? Because in this world, it had already been widespread contamination, it just rapidly switched to its real state.”

“And the fluorescent spreading on us… is the true pace…”

“That’s also why the doors that were clearly opened before got locked again because in this world they were never opened…”

“As for encountering characters we haven’t seen before—”

“The unbelieving ones… the brave ones who chose to stay behind.”

Fu Qian shook his head and displayed a bit of fluorescence on his hand from lock picking.

“If this is indeed the natural rate of spread, fundamentally it’s not good news, because it likely means that, compared to those people outside, we’re not that different.”

“Once infected to a certain degree, we’ll become just like that group of individuals.”

“It sounds like our future is quite bleak.”

This time, however, it was Masked Man’s voice that came through.

This speaker, who had been quiet since the beginning, raised a question in response to Fu Qian’s theory.

“So what might have caused the intersection of these two time-spaces?”

“Our disturbance? Something on the top floor?”

This time, it was Lady Star who instinctively responded and suddenly raised her head as if she realized something.

“Does this mean that there’s something special in there? Like the answer we’re looking for?”
