Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 286: Chapter 286: Bottled Prisoner (Ten)_1

Metal clashed with metal, and frostfire spilled in all directions.

In the dim space, the Sin Seeker and the Mad Swordsman collided, instantly tangled in combat.

To everyone’s surprise, Swordsman Yun seemed not to be at a disadvantage at all; he even appeared to be dominating the Sin Seeker.

As a Knight of the Sin Slayers, he was quickly struck repeatedly by a blade burning with Sinflame, leaving his sturdy armor scarred and damaged.

Even so, the Sin Seeker continued to strike and slash with methodical precision.

His attacks were powerful and heavy, fiercely unafraid of death.

...Yun, too, was like a mad demon, nearly never taking a step back as he met each stroke head-on.

Even from a distance, one could still feel the piercing sharpness of the sword energy spilling out.

“Now’s our chance, let’s go!”

Ailina, pale-faced, said to Fu Qian and Cross after witnessing the scene.

“Aren’t we going to take advantage of the situation?”

Fu Qian pointed towards the battleground and snorted coldly.

“When dealing with such evil demons, there’s no need to talk about any honor among fighters, let’s join forces!”

…

As he finished his cliché heroic declaration, not only did Ailina give him a ‘you’ve got to be kidding me’ look, but Cross also had a baffled expression on his face.

“It’s pointless, we have more important things to do, the Sin Seeker won’t last much longer!”

Eventually, Ailina was the first to snap out of it and urgently persuaded Fu Qian before rushing out ahead of the others.

Cross hesitated not a moment before following closely behind.

The last to leave, Fu Qian shook his head, lamenting the decline of demon-slaying warriors, then trailed at the rear.

In the direction from which the Sin Seeker had come, the trio advanced swiftly.

Along the way, they encountered various severed limbs and remains, all cleaved by sharp blades.

And not just humans; many severed parts clearly belonged to Transcendent beings.

This Mad Swordsman truly hacked away at whatever he saw; his red-to-purple aura was indeed justified.

“He’s really insane!”

As Ailina led the way, she couldn’t help but let out a sincere exclamation.

“I’ve never seen anyone increase the Sinflame to that extent in such a short time!”

“But don’t worry, with that style, he will eventually be eliminated by the Sin Seeker.”

“Speaking of which, I wanted to ask!”

Fu Qian suddenly remembered something and looked at Ailina.

“Isn’t that Sin Seeker a bit weak? He seemed clearly at a disadvantage in the fight.”

“That’s because the Sin Seeker’s strength isn’t constant,” Ailina sighed, confirming that Fu Qian really hadn’t seen the previous records.

“The power of the Sin Seeker is directly tied to the amount of Sinflame eliminated by the Goddess of Sin and Punishment; the more Sinflame he clears, the stronger he becomes.”

“Moreover, he’s immortal, so even if he’s killed first, it’s futile.”

“After every death, he quickly resurrects in a brand new form and continues the pursuit.”

“That’s why I said that madman will eventually be killed by the Sin Seeker; he’s facing an indestructible assassin.”

So that’s how it is!

After Ailina’s explanation, Fu Qian nodded slightly.

The feeling towards the Goddess of Sin and Punishment grew ever more enigmatic.

The one who discovered her traits and used them to design this death game possessed quite a formidable imagination.

The variable strength of the Sin Seeker was indeed a brilliant concept.

Knowing that, as a character similar to a Punishment Knight, if the Sin Seeker were too strong, then no one would dare to kill in the early stages of the game, for being targeted would almost surely spell death.

But if it’s too weak, then its presence will quickly become negligible, essentially failing to impose any restrictions.

Now, undoubtedly over time, the number of sins cleansed will gradually increase, so the threat of the Sin Seekers will always be there.

“Even so, the current strength of the Sin Seekers is not enough; we must quickly find the location of the statue, cleanse our own Sinflame, and also increase his threat level—there’s the exit!”

Ailina said this while pointing with her hand, not far off there was an open large door.

This time, she was obviously much more cautious, motioning with her eyes for Cross to scout ahead first.

“No problem.”

The latter volunteered to go out, and soon his voice came from the other side.

Ailina gave a slight nod to Fu Qian before she slipped through the crack of the door.

“Did we come directly outside?”

Upon exiting the door, Ailina’s expression was somewhat surprised for a moment.

With a brief glance into the distance, she could see the white building surrounded by stone pillars, which was the place they had initially entered.

That meant despite digging down a level, they still emerged on the ground level.

It really is the Broken Lands!

But now was not the time to marvel.

Ailina looked at Fu Qian.

“We need to hurry; someone has grown too quickly this time; remember, there’s also a Patrick.”

Fu Qian nodded; her line of thinking was sound.

By now, Ailina’s strategy had become very clear.

Her plan was to find the Goddess Statue as quickly as possible at the start and then use the Sin Seekers’ trait to continuously suppress Patrick and the others.

Considering the ability to actively hunt and then find the Goddess of Sin and Punishment to cleanse, the power level of the Sin Seekers would be completely in her hands, allowing her to eliminate the threatening opponents one by one, and ultimately great success was possible.

It has to be said, this was a very nice strategy.

However, what was unexpected was that this time there were unforeseen circumstances, namely, Yun’s Sinflame was accumulating too quickly.

Being already powerful, the Sin Seekers of the current strength were clearly no match for him.

If this continued long-term, it would create a problematic vicious cycle.

And Patrick was mentioned for a simple reason.

The target of the Sin Seekers was now locked on Yun, meaning Brother Butcher was completely undisturbed and able to accumulate Sinflame at will.

And when you can easily last-hit without pressure, it’s easy to cultivate a monster.

By the time all the kills were taken and there wasn’t enough sin to strengthen the Sin Seekers, Ailina’s idea would be completely busted.

However, the priority was to find the statue, but the question arose, where to look?

Just now, you crashed through two locations in vain and almost fell into a slaughterhouse trap.

Ailina was clearly aware of this fact, frowning for a moment, her eyes scanning the surroundings like searchlights, ceaselessly searching for anomalies.

Ah!

Just then, a piercing shriek came from afar, indicating that the owner of the voice was already in dire straits.

“Let’s go have a look~”

Ailina hadn’t finished speaking when she realized that Fu Qian’s figure had already drifted out, and she had no choice but to follow.

Passing over a rolling slope, the scene before them was somewhat gruesome.

Limbs and flesh were scattered, blood flowed freely, and several bodies were already lying among the rubble.

The bloodstains indicated they had all fled from a nearby leaning building.

Amidst the bloodshed, Patrick, whom they had just seen, was smiling as he pulled his fist out of the chest cavity of a corpse.

The next moment, this figure, covered in dark red Sinflame, looked up at them.
