Facing an Ancient God for a Year

It seems Old Master Knight’s absence still caused some impact.

Observing Grace’s furrowed brow, Fu Qian confirmed one of his hypotheses.

After his own reminder, she clearly sensed something abnormal.

All of this was due to Knight’s unique condition, which led to his absence from yesterday’s banquet.

With such an unstable factor, if it persisted for a long time, it would be hard to say that serious problems wouldn’t arise.

But at the moment, Grace clearly wasn’t dwelling on these details.

...After pondering with a frown for a while, she decided to let it go and began introducing Fu Qian to the various dishes on the dining table.

Fu Qian didn’t say anything more, as today’s lunch had been very worthwhile—he had obtained quite a bit of important information.

As for his next move, he had basically outlined a plan.

…

“Sorry, aunt seemed quite excited today; I appreciate your patience,” Veil said quietly, apologizing to Fu Qian with a clear sigh of relief after lunch ended and she left Grace’s house.

“It’s fine. I was the one who insisted on coming, and I enjoyed the meal very much,” responded Fu Qian, looking at the cautious Veil.

It was obvious in her eyes that he was akin to the Great Demon King.

“Where are you planning to go next?” he asked.

“Me?” Veil was taken aback, not expecting Fu Qian to take an interest in her plans.

“I’m planning to visit the hospital to check on Riet’s recovery,” she replied.

Checking on the recovery.

Fu Qian nodded.

To avoid upsetting her sister, she might not even consider meeting Riet in person.

“Speaking of which, I have to thank you,” Veil took a breath and smiled.

“Now I don’t have to worry too much about bumping into Riet.”

“You’re welcome. I hope everything goes smoothly for you,” said Fu Qian without prying into the sisters’ love-hate relationship, and then he turned and walked away.

It was about time to visit Old Knight.

…

The situation had now become quite clear.

In this place called Byeluk, though Transcendents were forbidden entry, there existed a group known as the “See Me Sect.”

They were all ordinary people, but in order to be “seen” by an unknown great entity, these people did not hesitate to cut open the skulls on their heads to experience their true selves.

The head of the small town hospital, Collins, was the core figure among them, quietly guiding like-minded individuals.

And unexpectedly, this seemingly absurd method actually worked.

They were truly watched by a special existence through their open minds.

This granted them a special state, making them immune to various supernatural powers.

At the same time, while in this state, their cognition would be replaced by an illusory consensus naturally coupled together, acting entirely according to a “script.”

It was like a group of actors performing a drama.

They were not only able to retain “memories”, but from Grace’s reaction, it seemed like a special mental indulgence as well.

What a magical place!

With a familiarity that came with practice, Fu Qian slipped into Knight Manor and once again saw the old patriarch sitting in his chair.

The bottle of wine beside him was empty, still looking out the window as if he hadn’t moved since Fu Qian left.

Fu Qian shook his head and quietly stepped forward, scrutinizing the demigod assassin in detail.

Compared to when he had left, there wasn’t much change in the assassin’s appearance except that the skin exposed to the air was now a bloodless, ashen pallor, seemingly with ice crystals faintly adhering to it.

And around him, the biting white frost had thickened more than twofold.

He must have briefly emerged from that state in the interim, leading to the loss of suppression over Herrom’s remnants and thus intensifying the abnormal changes in his body.

Now that he was back in that state, a temporary balance had been achieved.

Otherwise, it’s impossible to explain why it worsened so rapidly in such a short time.

Fu Qian pondered in silence.

Undoubtedly, as time passed, the changes in his body would become increasingly evident.

According to the current information, these “Witness Me Sect” members shifted between two states every day.

Although the duration varied, even if there were only brief periods of normalcy each day, Nate, being an ordinary human, absolutely couldn’t endure the encroachment of a demigod’s exuviae.

His time was running short.

Fu Qian took a step forward and silently removed the man’s hat, revealing Herrom’s lifeless face.

Without hesitation, Fu Qian extended a finger and pressed it into the center of that face.

Nate’s body trembled but he made no sound.

His condition seemed quite poor.

At the same time, a chill spread along Fu Qian’s finger, instantly frosting his entire right hand with a layer of white frost.

The face on the scalp twitched, but it remained firmly perched on top of Nate’s head, showing no intention of moving.

Did it know it couldn’t move away?

Fu Qian nodded.

It made sense.

Now that only a face remained of the entire corpse, Fu Qian could almost picture the scene at that time.

After Herrom was blown apart by a shot, the corpse underwent a transformation and began to invade Nate’s body automatically.

However, due to the latter’s special state, it was quickly cleansed and melted away.

The last remaining fragment crawled onto Nate’s head, blocking the brain cavity and disturbing the special “Witness Me” state, thereby achieving a delicate balance.

So even if it was stimulated, it wasn’t willing to migrate elsewhere easily.

The two were now in a state of deep fusion, and if he forcibly removed it, Nate would very likely not survive, not to mention that the torn part would be extremely difficult to cleanse—

—unless it was thrown directly onto another “Witness Me Sect” member.

Since the special state had a cleansing effect on supernatural entities, he would only need to assist at the side, ensuring that the “brain cavity” remained unobstructed, and the entity would be doomed to destruction.

However, before that, there was another approach worth trying.

Fu Qian withdrew his hand slightly and in the next moment, a scarlet light flashed as the Tyrant’s Fist was activated, and with a snap, it struck Nate’s head.

The effect of the Tyrant’s Fist was always significant for fragile fusions.

And as Fu Qian lashed down with his whip, the result was almost instantaneous.

Not only did Nate tremble all over, but the human face on top of his head quickly shriveled into a ball.

Seeing this, Fu Qian did not hesitate to lash out again.

Clang!

Finally, Nate could no longer bear it and collapsed onto the table, knocking over the bottles nearby.

The human face, scrunched into a ball, seemed to come alive, bumping around wildly before swiftly moving down along the neck.

Almost the moment it left the top of the head, Fu Qian felt Nate undergo rapid changes before his eyes, and the sense of emptiness intensified sharply.

The next moment, a dense fog of ice erupted from Nate’s body.

The wandering human face, as if exposed to scorching sunlight, melted away in silent agony.

Uh!

With a long inhale, Old Master Knight propped himself up by the arms, turned around, and looked over.
