I Return From Hell

Chapter 95: Chapter 88: Kill It? A Contingency

”Quick, save us.”

Seeing this, Zhu Fangfang’s expression brightened. ”Don’t panic,” she said reassuringly.

”We’ve already killed...”

Suddenly.

PFFT.

With a flick of her wrist, Xia Yu sent the Blood Butterfly flying. It pierced through the man’s head and embedded itself in the ground far away.

Uh.

Zhu Fangfang shuddered, the words catching in her throat.

”Stop pretending.”

Xia Yu clutched three Crystal Cores and said coldly, ”Your little tricks won’t fool me.”

”You’re a real handful!” Ye Xue stood up and said. ”But this woman’s soul was incredibly nourishing. The effect was wonderful.”

”It helped me recover to my Peak state.”

”You still can’t kill me!”

Xia Yu silently took out another three Crystal Cores, secretly making a hand gesture toward Zhu Fangfang.

Because of the poor lighting, Zhu Fangfang didn’t notice at all.

”You... You dare detonate them?”

Ye Xue was utterly unconvinced. ”When that happens, you’ll die, but I won’t.”

Not everyone had the courage to do something like this.

Xia Yu’s expression was calm as she said flatly, ”You can take that gamble and see if I dare.”

”Er, ahem.”

”Human Race, how about this: we each take a step back. I’ll let you leave, and you leave the woman behind you. How about it?”

Ye Xue spoke again, decisively backing down. ”Instead of fighting to the death, why don’t we both just walk away?” she coaxed.

Xia Yu saw that Zhu Fangfang still hadn’t gotten the hint and decided to stop worrying about her.

”Sorry, I’d rather just kill you.”

She charged forward and detonated three of the Crystal Cores!

This wasn’t a reckless move.

It was because...

First, it had just taken control of two more Ghost Slaves, which would inevitably cause its recovered state to decline again.

Second, by consuming that woman’s soul, the Soul-eating Ghost couldn’t possibly have recovered to its Peak state. It must have paid a heavy price.

Third, the fact that the Soul-eating Ghost backed down was telling enough.

”You...”

Seeing that Xia Yu was completely unpredictable, attacking without a moment’s hesitation like a lunatic with a death wish, Ye Xue’s face changed drastically. She screamed, ”Stop!”

”BANG!”

The explosion rang out again.

”No!”

”Let’s die together! Die!”

The Soul-eating Ghost shrieked hysterically.

It actually left Ye Xue’s body of its own accord, lunging toward Xia Yu at an incredible speed!

A final, desperate strike held immense power.

The instant she detonated the Crystal Cores, Xia Yu had already turned and leaped away. She protected the back of her head with her hands, curling her body to minimize the area exposed to the blast and shield her remaining Crystal Cores and the Jade Box.

She never expected that before her body was harmed, her soul would be the first to suffer excruciating pain.

It felt as if a mouth was gnawing on her soul.

”BOOM.”

Immediately after, the violent Heaven and Earth Spiritual Power blasted her body away, attempting to destroy her soul.

Her body scraped along the muddy road, tumbling a dozen times before finally stopping.

Her soul was damaged once again.

Fortunately, Xia Yu was prepared. She had been on high alert, constantly reciting the mantra. Otherwise, if she had been hit squarely by the Soul-eating Ghost’s final blow, her soul would have been scattered to the winds.

”PFFT.”

A mouthful of blood sprayed out.

Both her body and soul were severely injured.

Her face was frighteningly pale, and she was in terrible shape.

Upon closer inspection, Xia Yu’s jacket was blown to shreds. The back was completely gone, revealing a back covered in wounds.

It was a bloody mess.

Her once delicate and slender, jade-like hands now showed ghastly white bone. The nail on one finger was completely gone.

Clearly, her body had taken immense damage from the explosion.

A tearing pain emanated from her soul, as if she were a porcelain doll that had been struck a heavy blow, covered in cracks and on the verge of shattering.

And this was only because she had escaped the very center of the blast and had grown much stronger through several Mist Events. Otherwise...

She would have died on the spot.

Body and soul annihilated!

”BANG!”

As for Zhu Fangfang, who was quite a distance away, she only had time to shield her head before she was sent flying, slamming hard against a nearby wall and sliding to the ground.

There was no movement.

There was no breath.

’Is it dead?’

She could feel the Yin Qi Fluctuation, even denser than the Wedding Dress Ghost’s, begin to dissipate.

Still, she didn’t let her guard down. She released Little Flower and ordered it to stick to Ye Xue’s face!

’Hmm?’

Feeling Little Flower encounter no resistance, Xia Yu finally let out a sigh of relief.

’I won!’

’But wasn’t that a little too easy?’

’It wasn’t easy at all.’

She looked at her own exposed, white finger bones and felt the pain from her back. ’I guess I overestimated the Soul-eating Ghost.’

”Cough, cough.”

Xia Yu struggled to her feet, enduring the pain in her body and soul as she trudged forward. She walked around Ye Xue’s corpse, which was mangled beyond recognition, and retrieved her Blood Butterfly, which was largely unharmed.

With her Weapon in hand, she felt a greater sense of security.

Then, she let Little Flower absorb the Yin Qi to its heart’s content while she sat cross-legged and began to focus on absorbing Heaven and Earth Spiritual Power to heal her injuries.

If she delayed any longer...

Even she would die!

An unknown amount of time passed.

Little Flower finished absorbing all the surrounding Yin Qi. Unfortunately, the amount of Yin Qi needed for its next transformation was ten times that of the last. So, even though this Yin Qi was denser, it was only enough to complete one-third of its second transformation.

Xia Yu also opened her eyes.

Her body had mostly recovered.

She needed to hurry up and find resources, because this Mist Event was about to end!

But where could she possibly find any in such a large Ghost Village?

Besides, Xia Yu had been keeping an eye out ever since entering the village and hadn’t found any resources at all.

’What should I do?’

’Forget it.’

’I should just leave this godforsaken place first.’

She shook her head, decisively giving up.

As for Zhu Fangfang, she was already breathless, completely and utterly dead. Xia Yu merely glanced at her before looking away and turning to leave.

With much of the Yin Qi gone from the Ghost Village, more moonlight shone down, and visibility improved.

And without the Soul-eating Ghost’s hallucinogenic effects, it was easy to find the village exit.

Xia Yu quickened her pace.

Soon, she had left the village.

Just then, near the village entrance, a figure hidden in the shadows watched Xia Yu leave before finally letting out a sigh of relief...
