I Return From Hell

Chapter 90: Chapter 84: Meeting an Acquaintance Again

”AHH!”

A bloodcurdling scream pierced the air.

”That’s Zhao Huan!”

Xia Yu’s eyes narrowed. She had identified the voice.

”It’s definitely dangerous over there,” Ye Xue quickly interjected. ”We should go around. Let’s just get out of this creepy village first.”

Zhu Fangfang pressed her lips together tightly, saying nothing. She endured the sharp pain in her ankle, her forehead beaded with sweat.

”No.”

Xia Yu said flatly, ”The ghosts here won’t let us leave.”

”Rather than avoid them, we should seize the initiative!”

Ye Xue was taken aback. ”What are you going to do?” she asked.

Xia Yu: ”Kill the ghosts, of course!”

Ye Xue grew frantic. ”Are you insane? You want to kill ghosts? How can a human possibly kill a ghost? And you’re a woman, on top of that!”

’Looking down on the Human Race?’

’And looking down on women even more?’

Xia Yu couldn’t be bothered to waste her breath on her. She strode away on her long legs and quickly departed.

Zhu Fangfang glanced at Ye Xue and thought, ’That stupid woman. I wonder what her expression would be if she knew Xia Yu has already killed a ghost?’

She suddenly found herself looking forward to seeing it.

But right now, she was in too much pain to have the energy to deal with Ye Xue.

”You... you two lunatics! A couple of overconfident Holier-than-thou B*tches!”

Ye Xue glanced around but still saw no other living people. In the endless darkness, it felt as if a pair of eyes were staring at her, chilling her to the bone. She didn’t dare move on her own.

In the end, she had no choice but to follow them.

”CREAK.”

A courtyard gate opened.

Xia Yu halted, her body sinking slightly. She reached her right hand diagonally behind her, the Blood Butterfly in her palm looking all the more sinister under the faint moonlight.

Ye Xue and Zhu Fangfang were both so scared they held their breath.

”THUD.”

A footstep sounded.

A little girl in a floral-padded jacket, her hair in pigtails, wearing red cotton shoes, and holding a paper pinwheel, emerged, hopping with her back to the gate.

”She... why is she walking backward?”

”She’s coming this way! Run, run!”

Ye Xue muttered under her breath as she backed away. At the slightest hint of anything strange, she would immediately turn and run.

Without a moment’s hesitation.

Although Zhu Fangfang had confidence in Xia Yu, the little girl before them was just too bizarre. She didn’t know how this would end, but her only choice was to trust Xia Yu.

She did her best to keep her mouth shut and not say a word.

So as not to distract Xia Yu.

”Big sister.”

Little Flower hopped over to Xia Yu, tilted her head, and asked, ”Have you seen my face? My mean mommy lost it.”

Hearing this, Zhu Fangfang felt a chill shoot right up her spine.

Even Ye Xue didn’t dare make a sound. She clamped her hands over her mouth, her whole body shaking uncontrollably.

”Your face?”

A glint in her eye, Xia Yu said something that no one—not even Little Flower—expected. ”Little girl, if I answer a question for you, shouldn’t you answer one for me?”

’This little girl before me has dense Yin Qi in her body. She seems to be a real ghost!’

’Is she the Soul-eating Ghost’s true form?’

’Or is the Soul-eating Ghost not the only ghost in this village?’

Little Flower looked down, seemingly in thought.

Then, to Zhu Fangfang and Ye Xue’s astonishment, she nodded in agreement. ”Okay, but you have to answer my question first.”

Xia Yu stated decisively, ”I think I have seen your face.”

Little Flower: ”Really? Really? That’s great! Quick, tell me where it is.”

Xia Yu: ”You haven’t answered my question yet.”

Little Flower: ”Then hurry up and ask.”

Xia Yu: ”Tell me where the true form of that hidden Soul-eating Ghost is. Don’t say you don’t know. I know you know.”

The phrasing was a bit convoluted.

But Little Flower understood. ”What do you want it for?”

Xia Yu: ”Answer my question.”

Little Flower shook her head and said calmly, ”Big sister, give me the face. My face is on you. Otherwise, I’ll kill you.”

Xia Yu’s pupils contracted. She said, startlingly, ”You’re a Ghost Slave?”

’Only Zhu Fangfang knew that I have the child’s face. How does Little Flower know?’

’Two possibilities:’

’Either Zhu Fangfang is a Ghost Slave.’

’Or Little Flower is a Ghost Slave.’

’The first possibility is unlikely. After all, Zhu Fangfang has been with me this whole time and hasn’t shown any strange behavior.’

’As for the second possibility...’

’Based on the current information, the general situation must be this: Little Flower was originally human. After her soul was devoured by the Soul-eating Ghost, she became a Ghost Slave.’

’Having spent so much time in a place with dense Yin Qi, she has accumulated a large amount, making her akin to the Ghost Clan.’

’And her face was placed in the Ghost Mirror by the Soul-eating Ghost, giving her considerable combat power in conjunction with the mirror.’

’It all made sense.’

”Human Race, die!”

Little Flower lunged forward in a sneak attack.

Her little legs pumped backward at an incredible speed as Yin Qi surged around her. The surrounding temperature plummeted, and Xia Yu could clearly feel her body stiffening at a visible rate.

”So you really are the Soul-eating Ghost’s Ghost Slave!”

A murderous glint flashed in Xia Yu’s eyes as she flicked her wrist.

”SWISH.”

The Blood Butterfly shot through Little Flower’s head and stuck fast in the ground.

The Yin Qi abruptly scattered.

Like a robot that had lost its power, Little Flower’s body went limp. Inertia carried her backward, the back of her head slamming hard against the ground. Her face pointed upward, and the paper pinwheel fell from her grasp.

Ye Xue instinctively aimed her flashlight at Little Flower’s face.

”It’s Zhao Huan!”

Zhu Fangfang’s pupils shrank.

Zhao Huan’s face was relatively large, and now it was all bunched up on Little Flower’s small features, creating numerous folds like a series of ravines.

On top of that, there was a bloody hole in the center of the forehead.

Under the moonlight, it looked exceptionally terrifying.

Xia Yu couldn’t help but glance at Zhu Fangfang.

’This face is indeed Zhao Huan’s, but it looks quite different on Little Flower than it did on Zhao Huan herself.’

’Yet this woman recognized it in a single glance?’

’Impressive.’

Xia Yu retrieved the Blood Butterfly, opened the Jade Box, and pinched the human face inside. Instantly...

An astonishing scene unfolded!

All the Yin Qi that had belonged to Little Flower’s body now gathered into the child’s face.

The wound on its forehead began to repair itself.

Just as it was about to fully heal, Xia Yu pricked her finger and let a drop of blood fall onto the wound, perfectly covering it.

Her timing was perfect.

Her technique was extremely precise.

This was a method she had learned from a Daoist in her past life. It could greatly increase the Ghost Face’s degree of acceptance.

Ghost artifacts have an extremely low acceptance of living beings who possess yang energy. The stronger the yang energy, the harder it is to be accepted, and the more difficult it is to control the artifact.

A Ghost Face is also a ghost artifact.

Controlling one is very difficult!

The degree of acceptance had to be raised.

Xia Yu stared intently at the scene, her eyes filled with anticipation.

The next moment.

The blood was rapidly absorbed by the Ghost Face.

The wound healed with it.

Instantly.

She felt a special connection form between herself and the Ghost Face.

From this moment on.

She had become the master of this Ghost Face.

It had gone a little too smoothly.

Watching the Ghost Face continue to absorb the surrounding Yin Qi on its own, becoming more and more vivid and lively, Xia Yu was surprised, even finding it hard to believe. ”That’s... it?”

’Is the method that Daoist gave me really this effective?’

’It’s probably also because I’m female, so my yang energy isn’t as strong.’

’As for whether there were other reasons, she didn’t know.’

”Time to test it out!”

With a single thought.

The Ghost Face revealed a human-like smile.

”From now on, I’ll call you Little Flower.”

She was very satisfied.

The Yin Qi from Little Flower’s body, plus the Yin Qi from the Ghost Mirror, would be enough for this Ghost Face to last for three months inside the Jade Box. Using it would shorten its lifespan.

But that was enough.

Thinking of its wonderful uses, Xia Yu’s expression filled with anticipation.

It was an unexpected reward from the ’Mengyuan Bar incident,’ and a significant one at that.

”This... You... I...”

Ye Xue’s eyes were wide, completely stunned by the scene. She, who always had a sharp tongue, was now at a loss for words.

Zhu Fangfang was even more astounded, realizing that Xia Yu’s identity was likely something extraordinary.

This further solidified her conviction to follow Xia Yu!

Of course, the prerequisite was to survive!

Xia Yu paid no attention to the two women’s changing thoughts. At this moment, she sensed a strong, lingering obsession transmitted from the Ghost Face: Kill mom!

Hm?

Her eyes narrowed as she thought, ’Does this mean that Little Flower’s face was really peeled off by her mother when she was alive?’

Fulfilling the obsession.

This was the final step to completely subjugating the Ghost Face.

Xia Yu had to do it.

Besides, the Widow was likely also a Ghost Slave. She couldn’t let her go either!

Therefore...

”CLICK.”

After ”Little Flower” had absorbed all the surrounding Yin Qi, she closed the Jade Box and, following her memory, headed straight for the courtyard where the Widow resided.

Ye Xue and Zhu Fangfang hurriedly followed.

Ten-odd minutes later.

The three of them couldn’t find the courtyard no matter how they searched.

This made Xia Yu realize that the courtyard was probably not so simple.

Just then, another bloodcurdling scream shattered the dead silence of the village...
