I Return From Hell

Chapter 62: Chapter 58: Where Is the Ledger?

The Treasure House owner’s smile widened. ”I don’t know if the others can go up, but you certainly can’t.”

”Can you stop me?”

Carrying his son’s corpse on one shoulder and gripping the longsword in his hand, the bald man prepared for battle.

The next instant.

HUMMM.

The bald man and his son’s corpse instantly exploded.

They turned into a rain of flesh and blood, splattering all over the walls and staircase.

Everything was stained crimson.

It was like a living hell.

”AHHH.”

Dingding Girl and the others shrieked, completely terrified.

Xie Shaokun’s back was soaked. He froze on the spot, his mind going completely blank. After all, he had been standing closest to the bald man.

’What kind of killing method is this?’

’He didn’t even see him make a move, and the man just exploded?’

Xia Yu was the calmest one in the group. Frowning, she stared at the Treasure House owner, only to see that he made no further move and simply turned his back on them again.

And then...

STEP.

He walked backward down three steps.

He was even closer to them now.

Xia Yu glanced back. The fog was closer, too. ’Is he forcing us to retreat to the second floor?’

”Everyone, have you seen my account book?”

”My account book is missing.”

The Treasure House owner’s voice rang out again.

It was as mild as ever.

But now, it was like the Grim Reaper whispering in their ears, making their skin crawl.

”Don’t be afraid, everyone! Let’s fight him!”

Xie Shaokun snapped out of it. With a furious roar, he charged forward.

But no one was behind him.

Little Nannan was pressed against the wall, trembling uncontrollably as if in a daze. ”You killed the uncle... you killed the uncle...”

Terrified, Dingding Girl crouched on the ground, buried her head, and screamed nonstop.

Disordered Man and Zhao Xianghe, scared out of their wits, scrambled backward.

If Xia Yu hadn’t been blocking the way, clutching her Blood Butterfly and glaring at them hostilely, they probably would have already fled back to the second floor.

”You...”

Xie Shaokun faltered, the realization hitting him like a bucket of cold water. How could he dare to keep charging?

’What’s the point of charging forward?’

’To sacrifice myself just so this pack of cowards behind me can live?’

’I’m such an idiot.’

WHOOSH.

Just then, a rusty Sharp Arrow shot past his face.

”Enhancement!”

Xie Shaokun subconsciously unleashed his superpower.

Unfortunately.

When the Sharp Arrow touched the back of the Treasure House owner’s head, it was like hitting a Copper Wall and Iron Wall; it simply clattered to the floor.

”It failed?”

Xia Yu’s eyes narrowed. ’Is the power of the rules protecting him?’

”Yu, what do we do now?”

Xie Shaokun finally realized he couldn’t handle such a bizarre situation on his own. He had to rely on Xia Yu. He backed away and asked.

”I don’t know.”

”Aren’t you usually full of ideas?”

Xia Yu shot back, though her mind was already racing to find a solution.

’Compared to the previous encounters, this rule seems a little clearer: The Treasure House owner asks for the account book, turns his back, then kills someone.’

’What if I don’t let him turn his back?’

”Someone tell him the account book is on the third floor. Tell him to go look for it there.”

She had no intention of saying it herself.

After all, the bald man had spoken to the Treasure House owner, and now he was dead.

’Who knew if the owner only killed the one who spoke to him?’

Hearing this, everyone retreated in unison.

Xie Shaokun had no intention of volunteering this time. He grabbed Little Nannan and forced his way in front of Xia Yu.

No one dared to stop him.

Zhao Xianghe also squeezed in behind Dingding Girl, positioning himself in front of Xie Shaokun and Little Nannan.

”I... I won’t say it.”

Dingding Girl immediately crouched down, cowering to the side.

’Everyone’s backing down?’

The Disordered Man wasn’t surprised. Under normal circumstances, he would have done the same.

But right now...

His condition was terrible. He had lost too much blood, and his injuries were too severe. His rate of absorbing Heaven and Earth Spiritual Power was garbage, and his body was healing extremely slowly. He had to get out of this place and to a hospital—fast!

”I’ll do it.”

He couldn’t afford to wait any longer, so he had no choice but to step forward.

Taking a deep breath, the Disordered Man looked at the Treasure House’s owner and said hesitantly, ”Your account book is on the third floor. I saw it when I was browsing in here earlier. You could go check the third floor.”

”No, that’s the wrong answer.”

The Treasure House owner turned around, smiled at the Disordered Man, and said, ”So... you have to be punished, too.”

”Bye-bye.”

He even gave a polite little wave, like a complete psychopath.

”No.”

The Disordered Man’s expression changed drastically. He spun around and bolted.

However, just as he was about to burst onto the second floor, he violently exploded.

Like a firework of flesh and blood.

Dazzling and horrific.

”AHH!”

Screams erupted.

Everyone’s face was deathly pale.

The Treasure House owner turned his back on them again and asked the same question.

”Yu, I get it!”

Xie Shaokun said, ”As long as we don’t answer his question, we’ll be fine.”

”The fog behind us is closing in.”

Xia Yu reminded him, ”If we don’t answer, he might not kill us, but we’ll be consumed by the fog. We’ll die either way.”

Xie Shaokun froze.

He’d forgotten about the fog.

Feeling utterly helpless, he asked, ”What do we do now?”

Everyone looked at Xia Yu again.

She was their only hope.

”Get the account book he’s holding.”

Xia Yu said after a moment of careful thought, ”The account book must be the key.”

’The situation was looking grim.’

’If people keep dying like this, there’ll be no one left. And I still have no idea what dangers await on the third floor.’

’With no one left to test for traps, my own chances of dying would increase dramatically.’

But that raised the question: who would go and get the account book?

Zhao Xianghe glanced at the others. He knew it was down to him and Dingding Girl.

So...

’Strike first to gain the upper hand!’

He gritted his teeth, a vicious look on his face, and kicked Dingding Girl. ”You go!”

Dingding Girl’s face changed in an instant. An overwhelming will to survive gave her a surge of strength. She pulled a knife from her clothes, pressed it to Zhao Xianghe’s throat, and roared, ”Think I’m an easy target? Say that again!”

’A knife?!’

Zhao Xianghe’s face paled, but he tried to act tough. ”You dare kill me?”

SHLICK.

Without another word, Dingding Girl pushed the blade forward an inch.

His skin broke.

Blood welled up.

Zhao Xianghe was so scared his legs gave out. He collapsed to the ground, his face a ghostly white.

”I’ll go! I’ll go! Don’t kill me!”

”Pathetic coward. And you thought you could bully me?”
