I Return From Hell

Chapter 77: Chapter 73: Car Rental Company, The Three Set Off

”It’s hard to guard against a thief in your own house!”

Xia Hongzhong shot to his feet, fuming and about to charge into the kitchen.

”Uncle, I have something to attend to, so I’ll be leaving now.”

Xia Yu pressed down on his shoulder and, without waiting for Xia Hongzhong to reply, turned and left, her face grim the entire time. She left him with one final sentence: ”I hope you’ll abide by the terms of the contract, Uncle. Otherwise, when the boss demands compensation, I won’t be able to plead your case.”

Originally, she was a suspect and didn’t want to reveal what was happening here, mainly to avoid adding to the suspicion on herself and getting targeted by Zhao Guohui. But now, she was no longer a suspect, and Xie Shaokun was no longer a wanted man. Naturally, she cared less about the matter.

So, she couldn’t be bothered to waste her time on these things.

She simply put on a grim face, using the opportunity to give him a warning.

’Hopefully, there’ll be fewer of these headaches in the future.’

Soon, the sound of arguing came from behind her.

Her uncle was finally showing some backbone for once, his shouts louder than anyone’s. He even dared to smash pots and pans.

VROOM.

Xia Yu drove away.

After returning the car to the rental agency, just as she was about to leave, she was called over. ”Miss, there’s a scratch here. You’ll have to pay for the damages.”

”A scratch?”

Xia Yu went over to the passenger side and saw a scratch on the car’s body, more than half a meter long. If the car’s paint hadn’t been so thick, the primer would probably have been exposed.

Her delicate brows furrowed.

’I’m positive I didn’t scrape against anything the entire time.’

’This scratch looks like it was done deliberately.’

Xia Yu observed it closely and racked her memory. ’Are those brick fragments on it? This earthy fragrance... it’s a bit familiar.’

The next moment, a name came to mind.

’Wang Chunxue!’

Xia Yu’s eyes narrowed. ’Isn’t this a bit too childish?’

Although she wasn’t short on money for the compensation, this kind of behavior disgusted her.

She wouldn’t make a move without proof, and there was no way to get any proof for something like this, so she could only suffer the loss in silence.

After paying the money, Xia Yu casually asked, ”Boss Geng, do you know anyone who sells off-road vehicles? Modified ones are fine too. I’m looking to buy one in the next couple of days.”

Geng Qiu Shui, a woman, was the owner of this car rental company.

She was originally from a rich family, a second-generation heir, who loved cars and had her own garage. She was also active on social media and was jokingly called the ’Top Sister of the Car-Buying Section’ on a certain app. Later, after her family’s business failed, she sold some of her cars.

The ones she couldn’t sell, she simply used to start a rental company with a friend. Unexpectedly, the business grew bigger and bigger, and her social media presence also took off. Subsequently, she acquired another batch of cars.

”I have one in my own garage.”

”I modified it myself three years ago.”

”It has a little over ten thousand kilometers on it.”

”As for the price... you can have it for eight hundred thousand.”

Geng Qiu Shui’s interest was piqued. She decisively led Xia Yu to the garage and quoted a price with brisk efficiency.

This off-road vehicle was the least popular one at the rental agency. She had wanted to sell it for a long time but just hadn’t found a suitable buyer.

”Give it a full inspection and maintenance for me, and also get me a temporary license plate.”

Xia Yu only had to take it for a spin to know the vehicle was worth the price. Without any dawdling, she said decisively, ”Don’t transfer the title yet, and there’s no need for a contract. I trust you.”

”I’ll come pick up the car tomorrow.”

”Here’s the deposit.”

She took out 50,000 in cash from her backpack.

Geng Qiu Shui’s eyes lit up. She took the money crisply and nodded. ”No problem. I won’t betray your trust.”

She had encountered situations where the title wasn’t transferred immediately before, so she wasn’t suspicious.

’But no contract...’

’She trusts me that much?’

”If you come across more vehicles like this in the future, keep an eye out for me.”

Xia Yu added, ”I want more. Any number is fine, and the price is negotiable.”

’Xie Shaokun’s operations are clearly ’hard’ on cars, and since I’m not short on cash, I might as well stock up.’

”?”

Geng Qiu Shui paused for a moment, subconsciously sizing up Xia Yu. She never expected this cool and aloof young woman to be a secret millionaire.

’But what does she want so many off-road vehicles for?’

’To go off-roading in a group?’

”No problem.”

She didn’t ask any more questions, simply nodding and saying, ”You’ve definitely come to the right person.” ℯℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

”Should we exchange contact information?”

”Okay.”

More than ten minutes later, Xia Yu took her leave.

「The third day.」

「The car rental company.」

Xia Yu drove away.

’A cash transaction, of all things.’

’She’s got a story.’

Geng Qiu Shui’s brows knitted.

This young woman gave her a very strange feeling: she didn’t seem like a second-generation heir, yet she spent money lavishly. Her behavior was odd, and her looks and aura were far beyond ordinary. Setting aside her looks, just her aura alone...

...was something even she couldn’t compare to.

’Should I look into her?’

The thought flashed through her mind, but she shook her head. ’Forget it. Better to not get involved. Knowing too much isn’t necessarily a good thing.’

After making sure no one was tailing her...

ROAR.

Xia Yu stomped on the gas, heading straight for the unfinished building where Xie Shaokun and Little Nannan were.

”Yu, is... is this the car I’ll be driving?”

Xie Shaokun reached out a hand in delight, stroking it all over as if caressing his goddess. He couldn’t suppress the smile on his face at all—he was absolutely smitten.

Xia Yu tossed him the car keys and strode into the building.

”Big Sister, there are only two sprouts left,” Little Nannan said in amazement.

It was mainly because the speed was simply astonishing.

”This fast?”

Xia Yu was also quite surprised.

As far as she could see, the two surviving sprouts were indeed the ones that had grown from the two sunflower seeds: the most domineering one and the most unique one.

’I wonder which one will survive until the end?’

She had a premonition that before the next Mist Event, these two sprouts would determine a winner.

She was looking forward to it.

”I brought some things.”

Xia Yu waved her hand to send Little Nannan away, then began to water the sprouts with her blood.

「The fourth day.」

Unexpectedly, the two sprouts were actually coexisting peacefully.

The most domineering sprout seemed to be wary of the unusual one, while the unusual sprout truly didn’t seem to be competing at all, and they were sharing a single Crystal Core.

Both of them were growing splendidly.

「The fifth day.」

The two sprouts were still coexisting peacefully.

The most domineering sprout was still growing the fastest, while the unusual sprout grew slightly slower.

Of course, even ”slower” was much faster than normal.

’How many days has it been?’

They had almost passed the seedling stage and were about to bud.

「The sixth day.」

Xia Yu arrived rather late; it was already past one in the afternoon when she got there.

As expected, both sprouts had begun to bud.

They were growing splendidly.

”This morning, they started to bud.”

”Da Miao budded three hours earlier than Er Miao.”

Little Nannan took out her small notebook, pointed to the records inside, and spoke earnestly.

’Da Miao?’

’Er Miao?’

Xia Yu knew that these must be the names Little Nannan had given the two sprouts to make them easier to refer to.

”Mm.”

She nodded. After watering them with her blood, she called the other two over and asked, ”How are the preparations coming along?”

”Yu, my driving skills are really smooth now.”

Xie Shaokun was the first to speak. ”Yesterday, I even drove Little Nannan along the back roads to scout the location. I’ve drawn up a detailed plan and a backup plan.”

”Yu, do you want to see it?”

’You went for a drive?’

’You really aren’t afraid of getting caught without a license.’

Xia Yu shook her head and said, ”You two can make the final decision.”

”I won’t offer any more opinions.”

”Now, let’s head out together. I’ll drive, and I’ll leave after we get there.”

She didn’t want the mission to be delayed over a driver’s license issue.

Hearing this, Xie Shaokun looked disappointed.

Little Nannan, on the other hand, breathed a sigh of relief.

「Over an hour later.」

Xia Yu made sure to fill up the gas tank before parting ways with Xie Shaokun and Little Nannan. After confirming there were no trackers behind her, she stealthily headed toward Mengyuan Bar...
