Peerless Divine Doctor

Chapter 1540: Chapter 1541: The Might of Spirit Sword Island

However, the rain of swords spared none, all were slain!

Severed limbs littered the field, arms lay scattered! Perhaps, these Yulin Guards did not suffer in death, for the moment they realized the attack, they were already fallen!

Ye Luo’s eyes widened!

Is this the ultimate strategic weapon of the Great Tang Empire?

Such terrifying power, no wonder it is called the ultimate!

Under such a formidable attack, few can escape unharmed.

Even Ye Luo, if caught in the attack, would likely be unable to withstand it.

”Damn it, have everyone fall back, don’t send them to their deaths!”

Ye Luo commanded loudly, seeing the city within reach, yet he could only order a retreat. It was a very unpleasant feeling, but sending men to die meaninglessly was truly unnecessary.

Therefore, Ye Luo chose to order a retreat.

The Yulin Guards attacked rapidly and retreated just as swiftly, losing nearly ten thousand in this battle, which was a painful loss for Ye Luo.

But the results they achieved were not insignificant.

Ye Luo did not order another attack, for as long as Spirit Sword Island existed, breaking through the gates was meaningless.

This damned Yingchen Family, possessing such a powerful weapon, completely caught Ye Luo off guard!

Before reinforcements arrived, before finding the best solution to deal with Spirit Sword Island, Ye Luo chose to wait.

...

But what Ye Luo had not expected was that the attack from Spirit Sword Island actually helped him a great deal!

The attack from Spirit Sword Island was indiscriminate; as long as you were within the range, you would be mercilessly killed!

The previous wave of attacks that cost Ye Luo five thousand Yulin Guards also resulted in tens of thousands of civilians tragically dying!

Among those civilians, some had even been serving in the Yingchen Family’s army.

But to their dismay, while they fought bloodily, their families were innocently slain!

Adding to the Spirit Power Cannon bombardment on the city walls, and the words of the Yingchen Family’s eldest son spreading through the army, it could be said that while Ye Luo waited for reinforcements, many voices began to rise within the Yingchen Family’s army!

”This time, it is His Majesty who wants to wipe out the Yingchen Family, do we really want to oppose the entire Great Tang?”

”The Yingchen Family treats us like pigs and dogs, why should we serve them?”

”Loyalty to the Emperor, not to the Yingchen Family. If the Emperor is now crusading against the Yingchen Family, continuing to follow them is rebellion!”

”The Yingchen Family cannot possibly win. Leading the campaign against us is a Ninth Prince feared by even the Demon Clan, surrender, or we will all die...”

Various voices began to spread, and of course, there was evident contribution from the Yulin Guard spies Ye Luo had sent in, but thanks was also due to Spirit Sword Island and the Yingchen Family’s eldest son’s assistance.

Otherwise, the effect couldn’t have been this good!

This stalemate lasted for a full three days!

In these three days, Ye Luo did not order an assault on the city because he was waiting for reinforcements.

Fortunately, upon receiving Ye Luo’s orders, the surrounding garrisoned legions did not dare to disobey, given their newly appointed Grand Marshal was the Ninth Prince!

They were only asked to dispatch a third of their forces; this wasn’t even demanding their full support. If they refused, who knew if the Ninth Prince would target them?

Therefore, regardless of what those garrisoned legions ultimately considered, reinforcements were indeed dispatched!

A staggering force of over seven hundred thousand; such a massive legion was beyond Ye Luo’s expectations.

He had initially thought a few tens of thousands as support would be good, but who would have thought, seventy thousand!

The sprawling camps stretched beyond sight!

Indeed, even Ye Luo was shocked, not to mention the people within Yingfeng City!

At first, the Yingchen Family was still celebrating their successful defense, even plotting how to use Spirit Sword Island and the prestige from this battle to coerce the Emperor of Great Tang to compromise.

But who would expect that just as they were planning, the enemy’s reinforcements arrived!

Seeing those sprawling camps, even some core members of the Yingchen Family were shaken, so what more of the ordinary soldiers?

On the night of the third day, Ye Luo received good news – more than three hundred soldiers of the Yingchen Family snuck out of the city, choosing to surrender.

Actively surrendering was undoubtedly very good news, though these men didn’t provide meaningful intel to Ye Luo, it was at least a good start!

Ye Luo believed it wouldn’t be long before more enemies would surrender on their own!

It also told Ye Luo that the morale within the Yingchen Family’s army was already crumbling!

Ye Luo was just a bit puzzled; given they had Spirit Sword Island as such a powerful weapon, why wasn’t the Yingchen Family launching an offensive?

Understand, while Ye Luo seemed to have an army of over seven hundred thousand now, the regular forces were simply unusable.

It could be said, if Spirit Sword Island were to move, Ye Luo would surely lose this battle!

Is it because they wish to hide in the city and enjoy the formation’s support?

Impossible!

Spirit Sword Island is a strategic weapon, the ultimate weapon of the Great Tang Empire, then how could it be confined to a city, and indeed, border guard actions always involve attacking with Spirit Sword Island, never using it for defense!

Using Spirit Sword Island for defense? Not only is it extravagant, it’s an idiotic decision!

Unless, of course, there’s something special about this Spirit Sword Island!

Persistence paid off, and finally, the spies in the city brought Ye Luo a huge secret!

That was, the Spirit Sword Island of the Yingchen Family was not yet fully operational. Although it can hover, it cannot attack!

This was undoubtedly tremendous news, and meanwhile, Ye Luo devised a specific plan against it.

In different circumstances, Ye Luo could lay siege without attacking, and the enemy would eventually fall apart.

Unfortunately, Ye Luo didn’t have the luxury of time now!

The battle had already lasted ten whole days!

Understand that in a month’s time, Ye Luo was to undertake his ultimate task as a pawn, to replace the Third Prince of the Demon Clan.

Ye Luo’s goal was first to explore a bit of the Dragon Clan’s small world, so, time was precious for Ye Luo.

Now, the only obstacle before Ye Luo was Spirit Sword Island.

Destroying Spirit Sword Island was the key; the enemies would naturally collapse without a fight.

For now, the Yingchen Family pinned all hopes on Spirit Sword Island, so imagining the consequence if Ye Luo destroyed it wasn’t hard.

Thus, Ye Luo decided to infiltrate Yingfeng City personally!

Risky? It certainly was, but it was worth it!

Moreover, Ye Luo was somewhat confident, and even if unsuccessful, Ye Luo had a chance of escaping!

Quickly, Ye Luo found a few soldiers who had surrendered, and had them lead him to where Spirit Sword Island was located!
