Chapter 1535: Chapter 1536: Guardian General

Are these Yulin Guards really so obedient as not to report? Ye Luo didn’t know, but at least, in recent days, indeed, there has been no order from the Emperor of Great Tang.

But now, it seems, Ye Luo no longer needs to hide anything, because with the emergence of Spirit Sword Island, it can be said that the Yingchen Family is completely finished!

Ye Luo nodded slightly, then said, ”Send the ** over, let Father know about the existence of Spirit Sword Island. If possible, I hope for support!”

Whether the support will come, Ye Luo is unsure, but the necessary words still need to be said.

At this moment, within the Imperial Palace of Great Tang, the Emperor of Great Tang was discussing with several ministers, and even the image of Li Long was present!

Li Long, as the commander of the independent regiment of the Border Guard and also the Emperor’s younger brother, wherever he appears, there are bound to be significant events!

Initially, the ministers were still discussing the inappropriate measures taken by the Ninth Prince to attack the Yingchen Family, fearing it would provoke a backlash from the Great Clans.

But when a message was delivered, the entire hall fell silent!

This message was naturally the ** sent over by Ye Luo!

”Your Majesty, this, this is impossible. Though Yingchen Family is a major clan, after all, its fief comprises only a mere hundred-plus cities. How could it have the strength to build Spirit Sword Island? No! No, this must be a frame-up by the Ninth Prince!”

The speaker was the Minister of Rites of the Great Tang Empire, also a Clan Leader of a Great Clan. Although Yingchen Family is quite isolated, it doesn’t mean it has no friends at all, and this person happens to be an ally of the Yingchen Family.

In fact, ever since Ye Luo escaped from Nandao City, the City Lord of Nandao City, Yingchen Dao, knew this matter was of great importance, thus reported to the Family Head of the Yingchen Family.

The Yingchen Family naturally also took some actions, including seeking those in the court who could speak for them, trying to say some good words for them.

No matter how unwelcome the Yingchen Family is, it is still one of the Great Clans. Other Great Clans may look on coldly, but saying a few lukewarm good words for the Yingchen Family is also inevitable.

But at this moment, with the appearance of Spirit Sword Island, many people were already panicking, even the Emperor of Great Tang was extremely shocked.

Spirit Sword Island, that is the most powerful weapon of the Great Tang Empire, the trump card, that the Imperial Family prides itself on, overpowering all the Great Clans. If a Great Clan also possesses a grand weapon like Spirit Sword Island, what deterrence does the Imperial Family have?

This time, the Emperor of Great Tang was truly panicked. If previously he tacitly approved Ye Luo to deal with the Yingchen Family, to teach them a lesson and at the same time warn other Great Clans, now in his heart, he only wants to annihilate the Yingchen Family!

Even towards other Great Clans, he is suspicious and uncertain!

”Your Majesty, how should we refuse the Ninth Prince’s request for reinforcements at this time?”

The Yulin Guard commander, who delivered the message, whether lacking insight or intentionally provoking the Emperor, asked this at such a moment!

It must be understood, the Emperor of Great Tang tacitly approved is one thing, but he never explicitly issued any command for Ye Luo to target the Yingchen Family. Simply put, if the matter succeeds, the Emperor of Great Tang benefits greatly; if not, then at worst, Ye Luo is just a scapegoat.

Therefore, the commander asked how to refuse, instead of how to respond!

But now, will the Emperor of Great Tang refuse? Of course not, at this moment, upon seeing Spirit Sword Island, he is already determined to destroy the Yingchen Family!

”Refuse? Why refuse? Just based on that kid and a mere tens of thousands, most of whom are new recruits recruited in the Western Palace, yet to finish training, to deal with Spirit Sword Island? A suicide mission!”

”Convey my decree, appoint the Ninth Prince Ye Luo as General of the Town Army of Great Tang, commanding all local defense legions. Tell that boy, I entrust all the defense legions of the empire to him, no matter what means he uses, he must destroy Spirit Sword Island for me!”

...

Astonishment and discoloration, not only the entire hall of ministers but even Li Long!

At this moment, a feeling of fear arose in Li Long’s heart!

He even felt confused, was supporting Ye Luo truly the right choice? Training this fierce tiger to deal with the Demon Clan, won’t it bite back?

However, thinking of the unique poison of the Border Guard which Ye Luo was afflicted with, knowing his life is in his control, Li Long’s heart felt somewhat relieved.

Why did these people react so strongly?

Because of the so-called title of General of the Town Army of Great Tang!

What does General of the Town Army of Great Tang mean?

Privately, this title is often referred to as Grand Marshal!

Moreover, this official position was merely displayed and given to be seen; throughout the history of Great Tang, only the founding Emperor ever awarded this position to his strongest general; yet only three months later, he found a reason to revoke it!

Because the power of this position is simply too great!

The so-called General of the Town Army of Great Tang, actually commands all defense legions across the entire Great Tang!

In the Great Tang Empire, there are only three types of soldiers. The first type, the Border Guard, including Yulin Guards, belong to this category.

This is the most elite troops of the Great Tang Empire, with countless strong warriors, incredibly powerful, safeguarding the peace of the Great Tang Empire for thousands of years!

The second type is the private soldiers of major nobility and Great Clans!

Or known as house soldiers, mansion guards, etc. But without exception, they are supplied by each family, numbers undetermined, strength varied greatly!

As for the third type, they are the defense legions!

The so-called defense legions are military legions stationed in strategic locations throughout the Great Tang Empire, around various Great Clans and families. These legions vary in size!

Large ones can reach the scale of one million people, small ones have at least tens of thousands!

How many people are there in the defense legions throughout the entire Great Tang Empire?

No one has an accurate figure; even the Imperial Family probably only knows approximately, after all, the defense legions’ military expenses are half covered by the national treasury, half by local tax retention! In truth, even the city guard in every city counts as members of the defense legions!

It is seen, what the title of General of the Town Army of Great Tang represents!

This order was quickly issued.

The Emperor’s words are an imperial decree, once issued, it cannot be changed.

It can be said that when Ye Luo received this order, this order had already spread through all the defense legions of the Great Tang Empire!

...

”General of the Town Army of Great Tang? Could it be the Emperor took the wrong medicine today?”

Seeing this imperial decree, even Ye Luo couldn’t believe it.

But soon, message after message arrived, making Ye Luo unable to disbelieve.

These were loyalty messages from the commanders of defense legions from various places; no matter how these commanders consider, upon seeing this decree, they must report to Ye Luo; otherwise, Ye Luo can dismiss them with just a word now!
