The boost brought by [Santa’s Partners] was noticeable.

Originally helpless with taming reindeer, after acquiring this skill, Chen Wen suddenly had some plans on how to tame them.

He opened his eyes and, after hesitating for a moment, said, ”I feel like we need to tame a reindeer, I just realized we have a bit too much stuff with us.”

This remark received Hua Yun’s agreement.

”Indeed, we have a bit too much stuff prepared, I feel that even with a sled and walking on ice, it still takes two people to pull it.”

Hua Yun was already aware of this issue.

The food they had stocked up was quite a lot.

Chen Wen thought for a while and said, ”How about I go check out the reindeer herd this afternoon? Try to find an opportunity?”

Hua Yun was stunned for a moment, then looked at Chen Wen suspiciously.

Could this guy be looking to slack off?

In the afternoon, they were supposed to be vigorously tanning leather, and suggesting taming reindeer at this time wasn’t beyond Hua Yun’s suspicion.

Chen Wen didn’t pick up on Hua Yun’s thoughts and continued, ”I just thought about it, maybe we can approach taming reindeer from these aspects.”

”First is the trap, I plan to take my rope to make a trap to capture a reindeer, only by trapping it do we have a chance of taming it.”

”Second is food, I’ll collect some shrubs, tender branches, and moss when taming a reindeer this afternoon. These foods can entice the reindeer to be more compliant.”

”Lastly is emotional bonding, which I am quite good at, and can handle it by myself.”

Chen Wen’s words dispelled Hua Yun’s suspicious thoughts.

He was sincerely considering taming a reindeer.

Hua Yun wasn’t very knowledgeable in this area; her forte in the wilderness was taking down prey.

”You handle it, I trust you, I’m not skilled in this area.”

With Hua Yun’s permission, Chen Wen said, ”Then it’s settled. I’ll go with the Golden Eagle this afternoon to find reindeer and prepare what we need for taming.”

”It just snowed, the reindeers don’t have the urge to migrate yet, but it might change when the snow gets deeper later.”

Hua Yun agreed with this.

Even in abundant valleys, reindeer can just decide to migrate.

”Be careful, and let me preemptively congratulate you on successfully taming one.”

Chen Wen expressed gratitude for Hua Yun’s well wishes.

However, reminded of the pile of animal skins, he awkwardly said, ”What if we wait until I get back to continue tanning those skins?”

Upon hearing this, Hua Yun waved her hand open-handedly, ”Leave these to me, you focus on your task.”

At that moment, Chen Wen understood the value of certain words.

A wave of the hand wasn’t a refusal, but a statement without need for further words!

In any case, Chen Wen finalized his plans for the afternoon, intending to scout where the reindeer herd was beforehand.

After confirming the location, he would set traps tomorrow or directly attempt to tame them.

...

After lunch.

Chen Wen roughly packed his gear and left the camp with the Golden Eagle.

The Golden Eagle flapped its wings, searching for a deer herd.

Chen Wen trudged forward slowly against the wind and snow.

However, things didn’t go as smoothly as Chen Wen had imagined.

After circling high above for a while, the Golden Eagle helplessly perched on Chen Wen’s shoulder.

It sighed, ”I can’t find them, the snow is too heavy, I can’t see the ground clearly.”

Chen Wen was prepared for this outcome.

”No rush, let’s keep moving to where we hunted the deer herd yesterday, and then follow the direction they left to continue searching.”

Chen Wen spoke leisurely, letting the Golden Eagle rest on him.

The Yukon, which had now entered full winter, had undergone drastic scenic changes.

Wearing dark goggles, Chen Wen walked leisurely on the snow.

The snow beneath his feet made a soft crunching sound when trod on.

It seems hunting would become extremely difficult after entering winter.

Chen Wen sighed.

This despite having [Silent Steps], reducing the likelihood of collapsing snow.

For others, it wouldn’t be just a light crunching sound, but rather heavy footsteps.

Even with the risk of slipping.

One wonders if others have noticed this; if not, they’ll be hungry this winter!

...

In the team of Hank and Ludwig.

After a brief pause, Ludwig had accomplished several excellent hunts with his bow and arrow.

Working together with Hank, they managed a solid food reserve.

As the river was on the verge of freezing over, the two drifted along the river for dozens of kilometers.

Ultimately, they became the team that had traveled the farthest distance.

They were currently about seventy kilometers ahead of the second-place team, Yang Feng and Jenny.

Moreover, they had reached a small town near the Yukon River as marked on the map and conducted a supplies exchange.

Thanks to the reality show team’s behind-the-scenes efforts, they had ample food.

Enough to make their way to the middle section of the Yukon River.

In the team of Yang Feng and Jenny.

After a brief argument, the two settled their differences in light of massive rewards.

Jenny managed to retain her wilderness survival influencer status by completing several hunts.

Moreover, using traps, she accidentally caused the demise of a North American reindeer.

The show team couldn’t help but exclaim in surprise.

After all, the team hadn’t expected that this team could hunt a North American reindeer through a trap.

However, a guide discovered a crucial factor in this hunt.

He believed Jenny’s traps were so crude that the reindeer mistook them for snow-covered food.

Ultimately leading to the reindeer’s demise.

This left the show’s assistants speechless.

This team holds second place in terms of distance traveled.

They maintained a substantial gap of several tens of kilometers from the third-place ”dark horse” team.

In the dark horse team.

Being the last remaining dark horse team, they began to trek.

They initially intended to wait until the river completely froze over like Chen Wen’s team.

But they got too anxious.

Unaware of others’ progress, they gradually lost patience and finally decided to head out early.

This made their progress faster than Chen Wen’s team.

But their food reserves fell alarmingly short.

This team temporarily sits in third place.

Despite Chen Wen and Hua Yun’s team currently lagging behind.

They are considered to have significant potential.

Everyone, including Director Abel, has high hopes for this team.

After all, the total amount of food they have reserved has reached an alarming quantity.

Additionally, their sled, and Chen Wen’s taming of the Golden Eagle and lynx, are major advantages.

Abel is even looking forward to Chen Wen successfully taming reindeer or even moose.

If these two types of deer join, Chen Wen’s team could became the definite champions.

After all, there are more than two months left until the survival game ends.

...

On Chen Wen’s side.

He arrived at the place where they had spotted reindeer yesterday.

The traces of struggle on the ground were covered by snow, but lifting the surface snow, they were still clearly visible.

However, the reindeer had fled this area long before.

They didn’t dare linger in a place where their leader perished.

Chen Wen roughly gauged the direction and had the Golden Eagle take off to scout.

He then began slowly tracking the traces left by the reindeer.

This was Chen Wen’s first time tracking prey alone.

Using hunting knowledge taught by Hua Yun and what he had seen from various sources, he began analyzing.

”Reindeer fur... it can be used as a tracking reference, these guys tend to leave some fur when passing through shrubs.”

”And this is feces, right? With so many reindeer, they can poop anytime anywhere, it’s bound to leave traces and serve as a reference.”

”Next are the grazing marks... wow, these reindeer sure eat a lot!”
