Wilderness Survival with Druid System

After three hours of rubbing and pounding, Chen Wen felt as if his arms were dead.

On the other hand, Hua Yun seemed like she wasn’t even close to being done.

”Actually, the longer you pound, the softer the tanned leather becomes.”

Hua Yun said, as she set down the animal hides too.

She collected the leather she and Chen Wen had tanned with the Brain Tanning Method and Fat Tanning Method, and put them aside.

”After such pounding, it’s best to let these hides sit for a while, but we’re not wearing them ourselves, so it’s fine to just wash them later.”

”If you want to wear them yourself, you have to prepare in advance. When you get the hide, stretch it out, fix it with wooden frames, and do initial cleaning and drying.”

”Then apply the brain matter, store it in a shady place for a long time, then wash and dry it. This way, the tanned leather will be softer.”

Chen Wen nodded.

Although he felt he might not need this method, who knows?

If he ended up like Ed, needing it for a survival challenge, it’d be handy.

Chen Wen moved his shoulders and asked, ”What about the smoking method? I see it’s about done, the fire is almost out.”

Hua Yun heard this, and her face broke into a devilish grin.

”Cough, cough, the follow-up to the smoking method is also relatively simple.”

Simple...

Chen Wen suddenly had a bad feeling.

Hua Yun continued, ”Actually, there is a variation of the Brain Tanning Method which is the Ash Tanning Method. It uses burned ash to replace brain matter for tanning. Can you guess why I’m bringing this up here?”

Chen Wen shook his head, but the bad feeling grew stronger.

Hua Yun chuckled, ”That’s because after the smoking method, you need to use burned ash for tanning, which is the Ash Tanning Method. It involves continuous rubbing, but this step doesn’t need pounding since it’s already been smoked.”

Chen Wen let out a long sigh.

It was like his mind saw the changing of days, shifting stars, and the transformation of seas and fields.

In the end, Chen Wen remarked, ”Are you a devil?”

”No, I’m Miss Hua. The devil is our ancestor.”

Hua Yun laughed happily.

It was the first time she saw Chen Wen with that expression.

Chen Wen sighed, helplessly saying, ”The wisdom of our ancestors is handy but sometimes too complicated.”

”Just a tanning method, and it’s so convoluted.”

Hua Yun chuckled, ”Our ancestors carefully selected, learning it is gaining, you should secretly be happy!”

....

In the end, Chen Wen skipped class under the excuse commonly used by sports students who don’t attend the last class.

”I’ll cook, you go for it!”

This sentence successfully changed Hua Yun’s mindset.

She now felt Chen Wen was the devil.

Two big leather pieces!

Is he treating her like Astroboy?

However, Chen Wen didn’t really let Hua Yun handle all the leather.

The bighorn sheep hide was set aside by Chen Wen for tanning in the afternoon.

After Hua Yun worked for another ten minutes.

Chen Wen lifted the pot lid, and a rich meat aroma wafted out.

The fragrance even drew the lynx that had been napping in the shelter all morning and the Golden Eagle that had been out for half the morning back to nap with the lynx.

”Dinner time, dinner time!”

Chen Wen tapped on the pot, filling Hua Yun’s enamel bowl with venison and venison soup.

He took a can himself and filled it with venison.

Additionally, each of them had a snowshoe hare.

This snowshoe hare was the true main dish!

The lynx was eating reindeer innards on the side.

It had no qualms or pickiness over these things, which was a big plus.

In contrast.

The Golden Eagle was becoming more and more picky.

It didn’t eat innards or bones.

If Chen Wen hadn’t slapped it, the Golden Eagle would have dared to say it wouldn’t eat anything too lean or too fatty.

Seeing the Golden Eagle eating fresh reindeer meat, Chen Wen couldn’t help but say, ”A child being picky and never learning is mostly spoiled, I wonder if we should let it go hungry for a few days?”

”Forget it, forget it. Little Golden Eagle doesn’t eat much, only a few ounces per meal.”

Hua Yun said with a smile.

After Chen Wen spoke, the Golden Eagle quietly carried its pieces of meat over to Hua Yun’s side.

Both the Golden Eagle and the lynx had their eating amounts noticeably reduced after following a three-meals-a-day standard.

But calculating daily, it was still quite a bit.

After the idle chat, it was time to gain entries.

Chen Wen set his eyes on the roasted, jet-black yet extremely fragrant snowshoe hare.

As a rabbit, the snowshoe hare was considered relatively plump.

Its body fat ratio was a bit higher than that of an average domestic rabbit.

The taste was really good.

Chen Wen now somewhat understood why people eat rabbits, despite their cuteness.

Because the taste of rabbits is genuinely good!

[Please choose one of the following three entries]

[Irritable (Blue): Sometimes you will suddenly feel irritable]

[Note: Annoyed, annoyed, annoyed! — Snowshoe Hare]

[Coprophagy (Purple): You will eat your own feces to obtain remaining energy]

[Note: It’s survival, not shameful! — Snowshoe Hare]

[Sand Bath Pool (Purple): You prefer to bathe with sand, effectively recovering internal injuries and removing parasites from the body surface after bathing]

[Note: Oi, lad, come for a blood-pumping sand bath! — Snowshoe Hare]

[Please make a selection or give up within one minute! The first entry will be automatically selected after time expires!]

This leaves no chance for choice.

Chen Wen scratched his head, somewhat helplessly.

[Coprophagy] would anyone actually choose this?

Feeling resigned, Chen Wen chose [Sand Bath Pool].

At least it’s a recovery entry, it might come in handy sometime.

The remaining rabbit meat was also cleaned to the bone by Chen Wen, not leaving even the bone crevices untouched.

After finishing the rabbit meat, he also had venison soup.

Chen Wen dished out venison with a stick.

Contrary to the expected firm texture, the meat of the reindeer leader was rather tender.

It was a bit like lamb.

A mouthful of reindeer meat filled his mouth and released juice in his mouth.

Chen Wen’s eyes widened, ”Wow, this taste is really good!”

”It seems reindeer meat tastes better than white-tailed deer meat.”

Hua Yun was also surprised by the reindeer meat; she seemed not to expect such a taste either.

”Unfortunately, that reindeer herd is unlikely to stay nearby, they were scared off pretty badly this time.”

Chen Wen said regretfully, swallowing the venison.

But Hua Yun replied, ”But they won’t go far, the valley here is rich in food. As the snow gets heavier, they will prefer to stay in the food-rich valley area.”

While nodding, Chen Wen also selected the reindeer entry.

[Targeting the creation of nature - North American Reindeer, to plunder!]

[Plundering... plundering completed!]

[Please choose one of the following three entries]

[Flocking for Winter (Purple): You prefer to winter with your kind. If fewer of your kind are around, you’ll feel colder more easily]

[Note: Only by staying with companions can you have a warm winter! — North American Reindeer]

[Migration (Purple): Whenever nearby resources are exhausted, you will begin a long migration. You are good at long migrations, with reduced stamina consumption during migration]

[Note: Migration is a required course every reindeer must learn from birth! — North American Reindeer]

[Santa’s Partner (Purple): You are more easily accepted by reindeer herds, reindeer are willing to help you, your ability to tame reindeer improves, remember to prepare enough food for them when you gain their help]

[Note: Jingle, jingle, jingle bells ring! — North American Reindeer]

[Please make a selection or give up within one minute! The first entry will be automatically selected after time expires!]

Chen Wen was quite satisfied with the reindeer entries.

But [Migration] somewhat conflicted with [Running Chicken], and Chen Wen felt choosing this would result in redundant functionality.

Instead, [Santa’s Partner] is quite good!

Decisively choose!
