Chapter 552: Chapter 217: Hatching a Peregrine Falcon!

”Thud.”

A large tiger suddenly collapsed, crashing heavily to the ground, lifeless.

”Huff huff huff!”

Xu Binghu sat paralyzed on the ground, taking large gulps of air, his huge pupils slowly shrinking back to normal size.

Having narrowly escaped death, he looked at the prey he had just slain, still in disbelief and a little frightened.

The intimidating aura just now, even from a tiger that had just given birth, even after a fierce battle, was an oppressive feeling he had never experienced before.

It could be said that the sum of intimidation he had felt over twenty years of hunting did not exceed this one time.

Once he calmed down, Xu Binghu propped himself up with his machete, standing up with difficulty, looking at the now dead tiger with a hint of anticipation rising in his heart.

”Who would have thought, Xu Binghu would one day bring down the King of Hundred Beasts.”

Though there was some luck involved, the fact that the tigress died at his hands was undeniable.

He then looked at the still-warm corpse and said, ”My wife hasn’t had new clothes for a long time. This tiger hide should be able to make several new clothes, and they will keep us warm through the harsh winter.”

Tiger hide is a symbol of strength and wealth; only those with great martial prowess can slay a tiger and skin it, and only the affluent can afford to wear clothing made from it.

Now, there are two large tiger hides and two small ones. The large ones can be used by him and Lian Ji, and the small ones can be given to Xu Ran.

Thinking of his son Xu Ran wearing a tiger skin, Xu Binghu couldn’t help but smile.

”My son is truly remarkable; the warm sensation I felt in a critical moment must be his doing, similar to the feeling during his daily massages.”

”This time, Minor Achievement helped me get through this crisis.”

Xu Binghu reflected.

The peculiarities witnessed in his son since birth, even more than in his twenty years of hunting, were originally considered unique to him, but now astonishingly, they could influence others.

”Minor Achievement massages me and his mother every day; her health must have nearly recovered, perhaps even reversing her frail condition from childhood to that of a normal person.”

Thinking of this, Xu Binghu felt more excited than when he slew the fierce tiger.

The couple was already in love, and Lian Ji risked her own life to bear him a child. In his heart, Lian Ji’s health was more important; otherwise, he would have sold the tiger hide to wealthy merchants.

”First, I’ll skin the tiger, hunt some game on the way back, and then we can return.”

With that said, Xu Binghu took the sharp knife from his waist and carefully skinned the tiger.

Soon, four tiger hides were completely in Xu Binghu’s possession; satisfied, he gathered some beast milk and left the area with a bountiful harvest from the beast territory.

After walking for a short while, Xu Binghu stopped suddenly.

”Something’s not right.”

He suddenly realized that everything that had happened just now was off.

A tigress, especially a pregnant one, should have another tiger nearby; otherwise, how would she have gotten pregnant?

If that’s the case, then the tiger lying not far could have paired with the tigress, ruling out territorial disputes.

Therefore, there must have been another more ferocious beast capable of seriously injuring the tiger and killing it.

Moreover, the tigress was gravely injured yet not dead, meaning the other beast perished under the twin tigers’ attack.

”If so, where could this other beast be? Could it have left something extraordinary?” Xu Binghu speculated in his mind.

Immediately, he searched around, and after a full hour, he found something peculiar.

A colossal tree appeared before him, so large it would take ten people to encircle it, with roots thick as a person protruding majestically from the ground.

Looking up, its dense foliage blocked the sky, letting only a faint light trickle through.

”Such a giant tree is rare even in the Great Mountain,” Xu Binghu marveled.

Using the faint light, Xu Binghu carefully examined the tree for any peculiarities.

After watching for a long while, he did find something.

”About twenty meters from the ground, there’s dead foliage. But how can there be dead leaves on such a lush giant tree?”

Something’s wrong, very wrong; he must climb up and investigate.

With a short blade in hand, Xu Binghu moved nimbly and swiftly climbed to the spot with dead leaves.

In front of him was a bird’s nest made of dry leaves, without any birds, only a bird’s egg the size of a goose egg.

The egg was covered in red patterns, resembling the sunset’s glow.

”An egg patterned like a burning cloud, the size of a goose egg, perched on a towering tree...”

Suddenly, Xu Binghu’s eyes widened in shock, exclaiming, ”Peregrine Falcon, this is a Peregrine Falcon’s egg.”

The Peregrine Falcon, a raptor with sharp eyes, incredible speed, and talons as hard as iron, is a predator that can rival the King of Beasts.

Most importantly, Peregrine Falcons can be tamed by humans, becoming excellent aides to hunters.

Xu Binghu knew this was a Peregrine Falcon’s egg because of stories he had heard from the village elders as a child.

Moreover, since records began at Great Wilderness Border Village, no one had ever acquired a Peregrine Falcon’s egg; this was unique.

According to village elders, Peregrine Falcons wouldn’t easily leave their eggs before they hatched.

Xu Binghu took the bird egg and leaped down.

During his descent, he saw several beast claw marks on the tree trunk, large and small, all showing traces of upward climbing.
