The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 820: Chapter 324: The Phoenix Man’s Rebirth (Part 8)_2

Teacher Chen’s wife was initially startled when she heard that Mrs. He was crazy, but then she was a bit skeptical, ”When I went upstairs just now, I took a look and found it was quite peaceful, no noise—”

In most people’s ingrained impression, crazy people are hysterical, run around causing a commotion, and in severe cases, even attack others.

If a neighborhood has a crazy person living in it, it’s definitely a nightmare for the surrounding neighbors.

Even if the crazy person is confined, the daily banging and clattering and noise are enough to cause distress.

However, the He Jingtian mother and son downstairs, though they had only been here for one day, really had a quiet room; if He Jingtian hadn’t visited the neighbors, they wouldn’t have known they had moved in at all.

”Maybe it’s because Student He takes good care of his mother. I heard he’s already been to the Provincial Mental Health Center and has been keeping up with the medication!”

Teacher Chen heard more news at school and casually gossiped with his wife.

”As long as they’re not disruptive, Student He is still a student himself, and academics should be the priority.”

Teacher Chen’s wife chimed in with a few remarks, then brought out the small dough twists, picked one up, popped it into her mouth, and her eyes lit up: ”Very good, even better than the ones bought outside!”

Seeing this, Teacher Chen also joined in eating. A plate of ten or so little dough twists was quickly finished by the couple.

”...You really can’t tell, this Student He from your school is also quite the chef.”

After eating the dough twists, Teacher Chen’s wife, still wanting more, sucked on the oil on her fingers and couldn’t help but sigh, ”Good-looking, a good student, and can cook—oh, if only I had a daughter, I’d want him as a son-in-law!”

Of course, Teacher Chen’s wife was just speaking casually.

No matter how good He Jingtian’s personal conditions were, just having a crazy real mother was enough to scare off any mother-in-law who loves her daughter!

That night, the neighbors on the first and second floors were discussing He Jingtian and his mad mother.

Especially in the first-floor east apartment lived an old professor, surnamed Ma, who was a Foreign Language professor.

He married his wife when he was sent to the countryside in his early years.

Professor Ma was admitted to S University and stayed on as a teacher. Unlike Chen Shimei, he brought his wife and children to university and lived harmoniously with his wife for over twenty years.

Professor Ma valued affection and righteousness himself, so he particularly liked those who were sentimental.

The story of He Jingtian taking his mad mother to university really resonated with Professor Ma, so when the school arranged for He Jingtian to rent the apartment across from his, and he heard He Jingtian’s mother had a mental illness,

Professor Ma was slightly worried but still readily agreed.

It was Professor Ma’s wife, a true housewife, who, upon hearing the story of He Jingtian and his mother, was also very moved.

”This is truly a filial child!”

Mrs. Ma, in her fifties, having lived in the Provincial City for over twenty years, was still inherently simple and kind-hearted.

Especially after seeing He Jingtian bring dough twists to their house, Mrs. Ma felt that this child was indeed lovable.

She directly patted her chest and said to He Jingtian, ”They say distant relatives are not as helpful as close neighbors, and Old Ma is your teacher too, he is an elder and should take care of the younger ones!”

”Little He, you just focus on attending your classes, I’ll help you keep an eye on things at home.”

Unlike Teacher Chen’s wife, Mrs. Ma even directly went over to chat at He Jingtian’s house, so she saw Mrs. He busy in the kitchen with her own eyes.

Mrs. Ma knew from the start that the golden, fragrant plate of dough twists was made by Mrs. He, who was said to have a mental illness.

To be honest, upon first seeing Mrs. He working, Mrs. Ma couldn’t believe it: ”She’s mentally ill? How is that possible!”

Back when Mrs. Ma was in the countryside, she had seen a mad person create a scene in the neighboring village.

Yelling, kicking and punching, two or three people couldn’t even control them, and their pair of bloodshot eyes made people’s hearts tremble.

But the present Mrs. He was very quiet, quieter than the average middle-aged woman.

At most, when she saw herself, a stranger, Mrs. He would shrink back desperately, her eyes avoiding, her hands unconsciously picking at things.

Mrs. Ma didn’t understand the difference between depression and neurosis, but she just felt that Mrs. He wasn’t truly crazy.

Faced with such a seemingly scared Mrs. He, Mrs. Ma didn’t feel any fear or disgust, instead, she felt sorry for her.

Now that they were neighbors living opposite each other, Mrs. Ma, who didn’t work, was happy to help out a bit.

”Thank you, Mrs. Ma!”

Feeling Mrs. Ma’s sincerity, He Jingtian was very grateful.
