The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 810: Chapter 321: The Phoenix Man’s Rebirth (Part 5)

He Jingtian had just finished recording his statement and was about to take Mrs. He away when the policeman informed him, ”My spouse is a journalist and, after hearing your story, would like to conduct an interview!”

An interview?

Well, in those days, with no internet and even less social media, it was mostly official media like newspapers and television.

If he could be reported by the official media, and in a positive light, he would gain a good reputation.

When it came time for job assignments after graduating from college next year, it would be an added bonus.

”Thank you, officer!”

He Jingtian noticed the goodwill shining in the policeman’s eyes and bowed deeply, expressing his sincere gratitude.

”No need, no need, I just felt sorry for you and your mother. Besides, you caught two human traffickers and helped us a lot!”

The policeman felt heartened seeing He Jingtian being so grateful.

He didn’t help He Jingtian out of expectation of gratitude, but encountering someone who knew how to appreciate it was better than dealing with an ingrate.

Moreover, seeing He Jingtian so sincere, the policeman’s previous suspicions dissipated.

Such a polite, sentimental young man shouldn’t be someone who abandons his own mother!

After thanking him, while waiting for the journalist, He Jingtian asked the police station for some hot water and used his own aluminum lunchbox to make a pack of instant noodles.

”Mom, you eat!”

He didn’t eat himself but placed the lunchbox in front of Mrs. He.

Mrs. He was already starving, and the distinctive aroma of the three-flavor instant noodles made her salivate profusely.

Taking the chopsticks her son handed her, Mrs. He, regardless of burning her mouth, desperately shoveled noodles into her mouth.

Halfway through eating, when her stomach no longer felt that scorching hunger, Mrs. He seemed to realize something and timidly pushed the lunchbox in front of He Jingtian, saying, ”Xiao Tian, you eat!”

As a mother, Mrs. He naturally wanted to be close to her son.

But she also knew in her heart that her son disliked her, even detested her, and she dared not have much contact with him.

Actually, it wasn’t just her son, but also her husband and mother-in-law.

In earlier years, Mrs. He had moments of clarity when she knew she had a son. Her maternal instinct, coupled with brief moments of awareness, made her want to care for her son.

But her mother-in-law deliberately separated them, even instructing her son in her presence, ”Don’t pay attention to her! She’s mad!”

Mrs. He’s heart was saddened, and she was further traumatized, making her mind even more muddled.

Later, when the mother-in-law died, the son had already grown up.

Every time she saw her son, Mrs. He could see disdain, aversion in his eyes.

Mrs. He’s heart felt like it was being pierced by needles.

Sometimes she didn’t even want to become clear-headed—the madness was better, not knowing anything, so she wouldn’t be so miserable!

Perhaps from self-abandonment or perhaps the madness had lasted too long, in recent years, Mrs. He’s condition worsened.

She hardly recognized anyone, could scarcely take care of herself, and especially because her husband would hit her.

Already rendered confused by fright, living under the shadow of violence daily, Mrs. He’s condition deteriorated further.

Yet no matter how mad she became, she always remembered deep down: I have a son; his name is Xiao Tian! As a mother, I can’t let my son be disgraced or hold him back.

This realization, deeply ingrained, made her instinctively rely on and worry about her son.

Earlier, she was focused on eating because she was too hungry and had just had an episode.

Halfway through eating, she wasn’t as hungry, and as the surrounding environment grew less noisy and chaotic, Mrs. He’s heart calmed down, and she began to think of her son.

”Mom, I’m not hungry, you eat first!”

He Jingtian wasn’t lying. Right after leaving his real mother at the station, he had bought several tea eggs and two buns at the platform on his way out.

Having finally shed his biggest burden, He Jingtian felt relaxed, enjoying a hearty meal.

Even though he later had to get off the train and reboard, capture two human traffickers, and exerted considerable effort, He Jingtian still wasn’t too hungry.

Moreover, seeing such a surviving real mother, his conscience didn’t allow him the face to eat.

Sigh, he nearly handed his real mother over to human traffickers.

A creature less than beastly deserving no place to eat?

Starving to death would be well-deserved.

He Jingtian:...

He felt as if he truly had a split personality, with a voice in his head ruthlessly and brazenly condemning and vilifying himself!
