After I Died, the Scumbag Went Mad

Chapter 71: Chapter 71: Evan Lynch Wants the Lancaster Family’s Shares

”Who are you?” I asked coolly, deliberately feigning ignorance.

Noelle Lynch’s expression faltered; I had clearly gotten to her.

But she quickly laughed out loud. ”Heh, I heard Master Lancaster is sick. Now the Lancaster family is just you and that filthy simpleton. You poor thing, Sis.”

I didn’t even glance at her. Compared to Erin Whittaker, I thought Noelle Lynch was still too green.

Erin Whittaker was the type whose wickedness you couldn’t see, but Noelle Lynch wore her malice on her face.

The dogs that bite don’t bark. Erin Whittaker was on a much higher level than Noelle Lynch.

Now that I wasn’t even afraid of Erin Whittaker, why would I fear a spoiled, bossy girl like Noelle Lynch?

”What’s with your attitude? I call you ’sister’ out of courtesy, and you really think you’re someone special!” Noelle Lynch said angrily, moving to block my path.

I knew that Noelle Lynch was originally the one supposed to marry into the Lancaster family. But because she had been frail and sickly since childhood, treasured by Mr. and Mrs. Lynn, they couldn’t bear to push her into the wolf’s den. So, they had the original Silvia Lynch marry in her place.

They had no idea that those lunatics in the Lancaster family didn’t care one bit whether Silvia Lynch lived or died. Silvia must have resisted on her first day there, which was why she was overdosed with drugs and died on her so-called wedding night.

And why I woke up in her body.

”Silvia Lynch, don’t tell me you think you’re hot stuff now that you’re Mrs. Lancaster, do you? A simpleton for a husband—how does that feel?” Noelle Lynch continued to taunt me with a smile.

”Move!” I ordered in a low voice.

Noelle Lynch laughed. ”Why should I move? This is my house...”

’She’s about to say it’s her house again.’

I could sense from the original owner’s memories that she was filled with jealousy and hatred for Noelle Lynch.

The original owner hated Noelle Lynch for stealing the paternal and maternal love that should have been hers.

But because their lives had been switched at birth, she was only found and brought back to the Lynn family at the age of eighteen.

Eighteen years of poverty had stripped Silvia Lynch of her confidence. Even with her natural, stunning beauty, her radiance was buried under a low sense of self-worth.

The original Silvia had a boyfriend, an outstanding young man from a wealthy family, but Noelle Lynch stole him away too.

She had stolen almost everything from Silvia Lynch.

The thing she said most often was, ”This is my house. What right do you have to live here?”

’The original owner was far too timid.’

I almost wanted to laugh. ’I never thought there was someone in this world who had lived an even more pathetic life than me.’

No wonder I was reborn into her body.

But my personality wasn’t naturally timid. It was only because I lost my parents at eighteen and had to live under someone else’s roof that I gradually learned to endure things in silence.

”Your house?” I looked at Noelle Lynch. ”Doesn’t this family have the surname Lynn?”

Noelle Lynch froze for a moment, looking at me with suspicion. It seemed she hadn’t expected me to be a completely different person now.

’Fortunately, I’ve married into the Lancaster family now. Even if I act high and mighty, I have a legitimate reason.’

”What do you mean?” Noelle Lynch asked with a frown.

SLAP! I raised my hand and slapped Noelle Lynch across the face. ”Since this family’s name is Lynn, you’d better listen up and learn the rules.”

Noelle Lynch stared at me in shock, as if she couldn’t believe I had actually hit her.

”I am the true daughter of the Lynn family, the one who carries on our parents’ bloodline. What are you? A clown who was taken home by mistake. Letting you live in the Lynn family’s house until now is a gift from me. Understand?” I said, pointing a warning finger at Noelle Lynch.

It took Noelle Lynch a long moment of shock to react. Then, she flew into a rage and tried to hit me.

”Go on, hit me if you dare,” I sneered. ”I’m carrying the only heir to the Lancaster family in my belly. If anything happens, it won’t just be the Lancasters who won’t let you off the hook. I’m guessing... Dad won’t let you off either.”

Noelle Lynch’s face darkened with fury. She gritted her teeth and stomped her foot. ”Silvia Lynch, go ahead and be arrogant. Let’s see how long you can keep it up. So what if you married into the Lancaster family? You still married a simpleton!”

SLAP! I hit her with another backhand. ”This slap is to teach you to respect your elders. I am your older sister, which makes Sebastian Lancaster your brother-in-law. All you do is call him a simpleton. Who do you think you are to offend the Lancaster family? Without their support, does the Lynn family want to go bankrupt?”

Noelle Lynch was completely stunned. She stared at me for a long time.

She couldn’t understand why I had suddenly become so brazen. This was nothing like the person I used to be.

I ignored her, pushed her aside, and walked into the living room.

In the living room, the original owner’s so-called father was sitting majestically on the sofa.

Seeing me, he put on a fawning expression. ”Silvia, you’re here! Quick, have a seat. You’re the great hero of the Lancaster family now. You must protect the one in your belly.”

I smiled, looking at this so-called father. ”Dad, you’re right. The baby in my belly is the sole heir to the Lancaster family. Once born, they will be the future head of the family.”

Evan Lynch studied me for a moment before speaking lightly, ”It seems you’ve already figured things out?”

I didn’t say anything, just waited quietly for him to continue.

”Now that something has happened to Master Lancaster, and with Dylan Lancaster completely out of the running to take over, you have that simpleton under your control. If you take care of the baby in your belly, you will be the true master of the Lancaster family,” Evan Lynch said, testing the waters.

’I knew what Evan Lynch was trying to do. He wanted to use me as a puppet to control the Lancaster family.’

’But I don’t know what leverage he has over me. Is it something the original owner cared about?’

”Right now, it’s true that I call the shots in the Lancaster family,” I said, deliberately putting on an arrogant air, as if I’d hit the jackpot and married into a life of luxury.

’I just wanted to see what kind of threats Evan Lynch would use against me.’

”Dad!” From outside, Noelle Lynch—who must have taken a long time to process the fact that I had slapped her twice—burst in, agitated. ”Dad, she hit me!”

”Can’t you see that Father and I are discussing important business? You have no manners, none of the grace a socialite should have. What is this behavior? Get out!” I snapped at Noelle Lynch, displeased.

Noelle Lynch gritted her teeth in anger. ”Dad!”

Evan Lynch frowned at me. He knew I was getting ahead of myself.

”Dad, we’re talking about business... why is she butting in?” I asked, lowering my voice, my tone equally threatening.

’We’re both testing each other’s limits. Fine, let’s have a proper test.’

”Get out,” Evan Lynch told Noelle Lynch.

Noelle Lynch was shocked. Clearly, Evan Lynch had never treated her like this before.

”Dad...” Noelle Lynch was reluctant.

”Be good and get out,” Evan Lynch said with a wave of his hand.

Only then did Noelle Lynch leave reluctantly, not forgetting to shoot me a venomous glare before she went. ”What’s there to be so arrogant about? You just married a simpleton.”

I didn’t say a word, just leaned back on the sofa and looked at Evan Lynch.

”Since you’re the one in charge of the Lancaster family now, you should take control of the company as soon as possible and help our Lynn Group get through this crisis,” Evan Lynch reminded me.

”Dad, I’m powerless to help. Although I’m part of the Lancaster family now, I have no real power. Master Lancaster has passed away, and the Lancaster’s Third Master is in control of the company. He has connections in both legitimate and criminal circles, and I’m not about to cross him,” I said lightly.

Evan Lynch frowned. ”Securing the Lancaster family’s shares and handing them to me is your main mission. What? Thinking of backing out? Don’t forget your grandmother’s illness still requires the Lynn family to keep her alive. Do you think the Lancasters are going to pay to keep some irrelevant old woman alive?”

I froze for a second. ’So, Evan Lynch has finally revealed his leverage.’

But this grandmother...

I raised a hand to rub my temples. ’Grandmother?’

’Is this the grandmother who raised Silvia after she was switched at birth?’

’But shouldn’t that be Noelle Lynch’s biological grandmother? Noelle Lynch really is an ungrateful wretch.’
