After I Died, the Scumbag Went Mad

Chapter 70: Chapter 70: My First Time Returning to the Lynn Family

”Cece...” Asher seemed to be holding back, lowering his head to kiss my neck.

I wanted to pull away, but there was nowhere to go.

”We’re husband and wife...”

It was as if he was telling me that we were husband and wife, but also as if he was telling himself.

’He seems a little crazy. With this kind of madman, it’s hard to change his mind. You can only influence him slowly over time.’

”Go to sleep. You’re delirious from the fever...” I tried to coax him to sleep, but he wouldn’t budge.

He just kept my hands pinned, staring into my eyes.

”Cece...”

He called my name.

”I like you.”

He said he liked me.

He was confessing his feelings.

My heart skipped a beat. ’From my rebirth until now, my mind has been entirely focused on the murderer. All I’ve wanted is to find the killer and get revenge on Julian Fletcher and Erin Whittaker...’

’As for Asher, what I feel is mostly pity, apprehension, and suspicion.’

’I will never fall in love with anyone again.’

’Besides, Asher is confessing to Silvia Lynch, not to me, Cecilia Caldwell.’

’To be honest, I’m a little envious of Silvia Lynch, to be cherished so deeply by someone so foolishly devoted.’

”Okay, I get it,” I soothed him in a low voice. ”Go to sleep. You’re hurting me.”

Asher kept watching me and shook his head. ”You don’t get it...”

I almost wanted to laugh. ”I really do get it.”

”When did you start liking me?” I suddenly felt a little nosy. ’When did Asher fall for Silvia Lynch?’

’If Asher ever finds out that Silvia Lynch is dead and I’ve taken her place, will he go crazy? Will he want to kill me?’

”When I was eight...” Asher answered very seriously.

’Eight?’

’This genius’s puppy love was certainly one of a kind.’

”I’ve liked Cece for many years.” He lay on top of me, his face buried in my neck. His voice was muffled, as if he were shy about his confession...

’What’s the difference between him right now and a big, warm, obedient dog nudging its way into its owner’s arms? Dangerous, yet somehow... reassuring.’

”Alright, let’s sleep.” My feelings were complicated.

But he wouldn’t sleep, just kept nuzzling against me.

”I’m pregnant...” I warned him, telling him not to go too far.

”Cece... I feel awful,” he said, looking up at me pitifully, his big eyes just like an innocent puppy’s.

’Does this guy really have multiple personalities he can switch between at will? That look... it’s heart-wrenching. But in the alley, when he was fighting, he was like a bloodthirsty wolf.’

”Don’t even think about it. I don’t care if you feel awful. It’s my first trimester,” I said, pointing a warning finger at him. ”Don’t try anything.”

His eyes reddened, and he looked at me with a wronged expression, refusing to get off me.

I had a pretty good idea... of what he wanted to do.

”Sebastian Lancaster!” I bit out his name, my ears turning red from his nuzzling.

He didn’t listen, his grip on my fingers slowly tightening.

My whole body tensed up. I blushed and looked away. ’I can’t look at his face right now, he’s just too dangerously handsome.’

My breathing grew a little ragged, and I could feel my ears burning.

’In my past life, when Julian Fletcher tormented and abused me, it was only to vent his anger. I never felt any pleasure or anticipation when it came to intimacy.’

’Having a child with Asher... was purely a compromise to achieve my goals.’

Blushing, I didn’t dare look at Asher, able only to feel the searing heat on my fingertips.

He seemed very concerned about the baby in my belly. Aside from asking me to help him with my hand, he didn’t make any other outrageous demands.

”You... that’s enough!” I said, flustered and annoyed.

”Cece... I’m hot,” he whispered, hugging me from behind.

”You have a fever. Go to sleep,” I coaxed. ’You have a fever. Who acts like him? He’s like a wild beast in... heat.’

’But at least he’s a beast that understands restraint and self-control.’

Asher held me and drowsily drifted off to sleep.

But I couldn’t sleep.

My mind was a mess, a total mess.

’Suddenly reborn in a stranger’s body, everything around me is unfamiliar.’

’This fool has a familiar scent, but I just can’t place it.’

I don’t know how long I lay awake before I finally, drowsily, fell asleep.

When I woke again, it was already the next afternoon.

”Young Madam...” Outside the door, the housekeeper came in and set down my lunch.

”Where’s Asher... Sebastian Lancaster?” I asked.

The housekeeper glanced out the window. ”He went outside... first thing this morning.”

I rubbed the bridge of my nose and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window.

Asher hadn’t wandered off. He was sitting barefoot on the lawn, basking in the sun.

I had to admit, he was perfectly sculpted, like a work of art by Mother Nature, blending with his surroundings in perfect harmony.

He swung his feet, lazily lifting his head, and his eyes met mine.

My chest tightened instinctively, and I took a step back, not knowing why I was hiding.

When I walked back to the window, Asher was no longer in the yard.

I paused for a moment, then stretched languidly.

Before I could even react, someone hugged me from behind.

”You’re awake...” Asher whispered.

I was already used to his habit of appearing and disappearing like a ghost. ”I told you not to run around with that injury on your foot. You should be in a wheelchair.”

Asher lowered his head like a child being scolded, listening to my lecture.

”Young Madam, there was a call from the Lynn family. Your father wants you to come home,” the housekeeper announced.

I froze. ’Father?’

’Silvia Lynch’s father, Jude Lynch?’

’After my parents died in a car crash, the concept of ”parents” had become a blank space in my life. Now, reborn as Silvia Lynch, I’m still not used to it. I’d forgotten that the original owner of this body had parents.’

”I understand.” ’I have to face them eventually. I can’t keep hiding.’

’Jude Lynch used Silvia to marry into the Lancaster family. Now that the Lancasters are in chaos, there’s no way Jude Lynch isn’t eyeing the family’s assets.’

’Especially since I’m now carrying a Lancaster heir.’

’I could guess Jude Lynch’s reason for seeing me without even meeting him.’

”Cece, can I go with you?” he asked quietly.

I shook my head. ”I’ll go back by myself.”

’I need to feel out the Lynches first.’

’Since I’m here, I have to make the best of it. I’ve been reborn as Silvia Lynch, so I have to accept this identity and use it to live a good life.’

’Because of the Lancaster family, I’ve been pushed into the eye of the storm. It’s going to be difficult to live a peaceful life now.’

’Too many people in the Lancaster family don’t want me, Asher, and the baby in my belly to live.’

’I don’t just have to find the murderer and uncover the truth; I also have to find a way for my child and me to survive.’

Asher didn’t try to stop me, only took my hand.

I gave him a lollipop to placate him.

He took it and smiled at me.

I realized that ever since the incident with Master Lancaster and Dylan Lancaster, Asher had started to smile more.

’It’s actually a good thing. This is really good.’

’It would be even better if he weren’t the murderer...’

...

After leaving the Lancaster estate, a driver took me back to the Lynn family home.

I didn’t know what I would face upon returning to the Lynn family home. I hadn’t received many of the original owner’s memories, only knowing that her parents didn’t love her and even treated her as a pawn and a tool.

”Miss, you’re back. The Madam has been talking about you constantly these past few days.”

As soon as I entered the courtyard, the housekeeper came up to greet me with a smile.

’This was a far cry from the housekeeper in Silvia Lynch’s memories.’

”Well, well. After marrying into a wealthy family, I thought my dear sister wouldn’t acknowledge us anymore.” A girl dressed head-to-toe in haute couture and luxury brands stood in the courtyard, her chin held high.

I glanced at her. Silvia Lynch’s younger sister, Noelle Lynch.

Not her biological sister, but the one the Lynn family had mistakenly brought home from the hospital. The sister with no blood relation, yet who was doted on and spoiled by the entire family.
