Cultivation Simulator: Starting From The Empress' Palace

The Palace Maids still did not know that Chen Mo was actually Chen Hong, and that Chen Hong was Chen Mo.

When the news of Chen Hong’s death reached the Chen Mansion, they lost their backbone and panicked immediately.

It was already past midnight, but they were wide awake, mourning deeply for Chen Hong.

Since becoming his women, they had placed their emotions on him, regarded him as their man, with plans to grow old together.

Apart from being emotionally attached, they also saw him as their pillar of support.

He had helped them break free from slavery, allowing them to feel safety and warmth in these turbulent times.

But now...

Wailing.

They were filled with hatred towards the assassin and Zhao Jiang Ning, cursing them to descend into Hell and never to reincarnate.

Especially Chun Lan, who was drowning in endless guilt, planning to follow the master after mourning for him.

Because after the incident between Zhao Jiang Ning and the master, Chun Lan had been the one who strongly encouraged it.

She blamed herself, thinking that if she hadn’t played a role in instigating, perhaps, perhaps the master wouldn’t have ended up like this.

She then saw the lady leaving the mansion, saying she was going to seek justice at the Xiao Mansion.

At the break of dawn.

The body of ”Chen Hong” was brought back, a headless corpse covered with a white cloth.

Chun Lan, Xia Lan, Qiu Lan, and Dong Lan, ignoring the guards’ attempts to stop them, rushed forward desperately to see him one last time before ”Chen Hong” was placed in the coffin.

But without a head, there was no final face to see.

With Yi Yao’s nod, they still didn’t get to see ”Chen Hong’s” body before it was put into the coffin.

By the time it was completely daylight, the mourning hall at the Chen Mansion was set up, and everyone was dressed in mourning attire.

For Chen Hong’s death, Lian Yi wasn’t particularly saddened.

After all, she thought of her body as having been given to Chen Mo, not Chen Hong.

Her support was still there, so beyond being surprised, there was nothing more, at most, she’d comfort Chen Mo when he came to see her.

Su Mu was dumbfounded.

Chen Hong was dead.

What about her mission?

The whereabouts of the Red Sun Bell were now unknown, weren’t they?

What was the point of staying at the Chen Mansion now?

Taking advantage of no one paying attention to her, she sneaked out of the Chen Mansion to see if there were any instructions from above.

The happiest were naturally those royal kin.

In their eyes, Chen Hong was one of the biggest traitors.

After learning of Chen Hong’s death, they closed their doors and windows, celebrating secretly, even eating more deliciously.

...

Jiang Ruoqing was also shocked upon hearing the news of Chen Hong’s death.

However, the information she received was not entirely accurate, as it had been distorted by some interested parties, resulting in this version.

It said Chen Hong died at the hands of a woman.

Claiming he attempted to take advantage of Princess De Ning while drunk, resulting in his accidental death at her hands, which was entirely his own fault.

As for the doubts:

How come Chen Hong, being an eunuch, attempted to violate Princess De Ning?

He was an Innate Martial Artist; how could he be killed by a weak woman while drunk?

The people did not care about that.

They only knew that this version of the story was more interesting to them, so they were more willing to believe it.

Moreover, such scandals about the Imperial Family were easier to spread.

The saying goes, ’where there’s smoke, there’s fire.’

Zhao Jiang Ning was instead portrayed as a victim.

Of course, despite being shocked, Jiang Ruoqing did not change much.

After all, it wasn’t Chen Mo who had died.

At most, she would find some time to comfort Yi Yao.

However, Jiang Ruoqing felt it might be a relief for Yi Yao.

How good could it be to serve an eunuch?

Luo Zhen, Ye Wanqiu, and Xu Miaozhen showed worried expressions.

After all, they knew that Chen Hong was Chen Mo. Now with the news of Chen Hong’s death, what about Chen Mo?

...

Xiao Yunxi was intensely shocked upon hearing the news.

Yet, due to Chen Mo’s previous subtle hints, she had mentally prepared.

At this moment, she understood Chen Mo’s intentions.

With both Chen Hong and Chen Mo appearing openly, it would eventually lead to exposure.

But if one ’died’, the result would be very different.

Moreover, having a true masculine identity would make actions more convenient.

...

In Yong’an Palace.

Hu Mei’Er was stunned for a long time after hearing her subordinates’ report. After careful consideration, she exclaimed, ”A clever way to replace the real with the fake. Tell Die Wu to keep an eye on Chen Mo from now on.”

Although the differences in power between Chen Hong and Chen Mo confused Hu Mei’Er the most.

She was still convinced that Chen Hong and Chen Mo were actually the same person.

From her investigations, she found that in the Chen Mansion, Chen Hong and Chen Mo never appeared simultaneously.

...

At the Chen Mansion.

White joss paper fluttered in the air like butterflies, framing Chen Mo in his mourning clothes with immense sorrow.

The act was mostly over now; this was no longer necessary.

He had just dropped a few drops of chili water into his eyes; at this moment, his eyes were red, and there were tear stains on his face, making the grief appear extremely real.

Everyone who came to pay their respects was surprised by Chen Mo’s display.

Inwardly noting that the bond between the brothers was truly deep.

Because Chen Hong was an eunuch, he had no widows to show publicly; Yi Yao was only one of his maids.

Thus, the ministers who came to offer condolences merely asked Chen Mo to mourn.

”His Majesty arrives.”

Soon, Zhao Chong and Xiao Yunqi arrived, along with Hu Sheng.

Bringing the handling result.

In order to win Chen Mo over.

He was to take over his brother’s position, serving as the Deputy Commander of the Infantry Division.

Three thousand cavalrymen would also be incorporated into the Fire Qilin Army.

Moreover, Zhao Jiang Ning was indeed spared, unlikely to be executed.

Then, under the guise of a Palace Maid, she was rewarded to Chen Mo as a Concubine.

That’s right, a royal princess as a concubine for Chen Mo.

Although not openly stated, it was still unbelievable.

Of course, Xiao Yunxi intentionally pushed for this result, and Zhao Chong also helped.

After all, Zhao Chong also wanted to win Chen Mo over.

As long as Chen Mo agreed.

The Chen Mansion and the Imperial Court would simultaneously announce.

That the matter of Chen Hong’s death had nothing to do with Princess De Ning.

Although this result did differ a bit from what Chen Mo had imagined, it was still in line with his wish.

Thus, after extorting a large sum from the Imperial Family, he unwillingly agreed.

Before Xiao Yunqi left, he told Chen Mo to compensate the Prince’s Mansion monetarily and to have Gao Zheng executed.

For Xiao Yunqi, Gao Zheng was just someone expendable.

But for Chen Mo, Gao Zheng was a confidant and someone trustworthy.

However, he still agreed, but with one condition: it would not be made public.

Xiao Yunqi knew Chen Mo’s plan, did not nod directly, and told him to handle it properly.

After all, it was merely to give the Imperial Family some face.

After Xiao Yunqi left, Chen Mo sent someone to find a death row prisoner from the prison.
