Forced Pampering: Haughty Husband, Please Restrain Yourself

Chapter 1281: Chapter 1295: That Uncle Walks So Strangely

Wang Xia spoke, reaching out to take the backpack off his shoulder. A man in his thirties, dressed in formal wear, yet carrying a backpack like this—no matter how you looked at it, it seemed out of place.

”I just got here as well, wasn’t in a rush,” the man said, claiming not to be in a hurry, although he was secretly anxious. God knows how disappointed he felt when he got off the car and didn’t see her, thinking she regretted asking him to visit her.

Not knowing her address, he spent a long time mustering the courage to dial the number on his phone, but never did, fearing she’d be annoyed with him and never see him again.

Hearing her concerned words now, his heart pounded wildly, face turning even redder.

Seeing her wanting to help with his things, he dodged aside with a simple, honest expression on his face, ”This isn’t heavy, I can carry it myself.”

Wang Xia felt a bit uncomfortable under his gaze and stopped fussing over his backpack. Her hand slid down and directly held his large hand, ”Let’s go, you must be hungry after sitting on the train all day. Let’s find a place to eat.”

Suddenly being gripped by her large hand, his body noticeably stiffened, feeling the warmth in his palm, he awkwardly shuffled his feet.

”Mommy, look, that uncle walks funny,” a little boy not far away pointed at him, remarking curiously.

The woman beside quickly pulled the boy behind her, apologetically smiling at the two, ”Sorry, he’s just joking.”

Wang Xia stopped in her tracks, staring blankly at the little boy. Back then, Rong was just as adorable.

The man scratched the back of his head awkwardly, ”Sitting on the train all day, my legs are a bit numb.”

Wang Xia was pulled back to reality, her eyes falling to his legs.

”Feeling better now? Why don’t we find an open space outside and walk a bit?”

”No need, I’m much better now, let’s get going,” he said as he took the initiative to hold her small hand again. Feeling something was amiss in his palm, he took a closer look...

”Xia, what’s wrong with your hand?”

The slender hand was full of dry, cracked lines, with two places covered by band-aids.

Caught by him, Wang Xia felt a bit uneasy, pulling her hand back, ”It’s nothing.”

Saying this, she turned and walked out first.

He quickly took two steps to block her path, ”Xia, are you hiding something from me?”

”Chenggang, really it’s nothing, these are just small accidents from work, I will be more careful in the future.” Not wanting to mention those embarrassing matters, Wang Xia pushed Jia Chenggang to move forward.

Jia Chenggang asked no further, still holding Wang Xia’s hand, they walked out together, side by side.

Having known Wang Xia for so long, he naturally understood her character.

In his eyes, Wang Xia was an independent, confident woman with a strong sense of self-respect.

Long ago, he should have realized how tough life must be for her and Hairong, living in such a big city like the Imperial City, he should have visited her earlier.

Originally thinking Wang Xia would take him home for a meal, since when he was in Nan’an before, he always ate at her place, but she insisted on eating out, so Jia Chenggang complied.

The two found a small restaurant and ordered a few home-style dishes. While waiting for the food, Jia Chenggang, sitting across from Wang Xia, finally had a chance to take a good look at this woman.

Even though it had only been two months since they last met, she seemed haggard. Despite her makeup making her appear in good spirits, Jia Chenggang could still see the tiredness in the dark circles under her eyes.
